First party of the year

History of Magic was nearly over, but the girls had long decided they were done with it. Professors Binns' monotone voice was simply a background noise now. Nobody could focus. How could they? Tonight was the first party of the year. Only 5th years and up allowed. The best Friday of the entire year. Everybody got absolutely shitfaced drunk, their very own way of celebrating their return to school.

The moment Binns finally dismissed them, the girls practically sprinted out of the room, with one aim and one aim only. To look bloody brilliant. They had taken off at a full sprint now, somehow simultaneously talking, or rather shouting, about what to wear. That was until Mary went crashing down to the floor, pulling somebody else down with her.

Mary, rather boisterously, began laughing at the unexpected tumble. That was until she saw the ginger girl beneath her. "Fucks sake Evans watch where you're going." She murmured, her entire demeanor changing.

Only Lily didn't respond, as she was painfully aware of the position they'd landed in. Mary now straddling her waist, Lilys hands on her thighs.

Coming to her senses, Lily pulled away as fast as she could, Mary leaping off of her very chaotically. Lily giggled at this, but not at Mary directly? She wasn't making fun of her? She actually didn't have it in her to be angry. The whole situation stirred some odd feeling inside of Lily, one she wasn't quite familiar with. One she couldn't quite shake.

The girls bustled around now in Mary's dorm, finishing getting ready.

"Jesus, we look good." Mary said, adjusting the little black, cowl neck dress she was wearing. It was made completely of silk, reasonably loose yet hugged all the right places. She wore white go-go boots and her curls were out in full force. She looked impossible.

Emmeline wore a distressed pair of bellbottom jeans, with a blue halter neck top. Marlene wore a dark blue pair of jeans and a Led Zeppelin t shirt.

Dorcas went all out, a bright purple bell sleeved top and black bell bottoms, covered in a starry pattern. She was the true artist of the group, her fashion efforts could be questionable sometimes, but she always made it work. That's how she was, she could style a bin bag and it would still look brilliant.

"Of course we do, it's us." Marlene laughed, winking at the rest of the girls.

"On a scale of 1-10, how wasted are we getting tonight?"

"Emmeline dear, we drink till we drop, haven't we always?" Dorcas said.

This group had always been party girls. Everyone knew it. If there was a party they were there, no matter the circumstances. In 5th year they were at a party nearly every single weekend. Of course all the drinking wasn't healthy but they were only young, nobody cared, and nobody questioned it. It was nothing unusual. It's just how they were programmed.

"HELLOOOO LADIES." A decidedly tipsy James yelled, barging into the room. Naturally, followed by an equally as tipsy Sirius, and a clearly more sober Remus and Peter.

"You girls look nice." Remus said, offering a friendly smile to them.

"YOU READY TO GET PISSED WITH US GIRLIES?"

"FUCK YEAH STARBOY!" Yelled Marlene, high-fiving Sirius, followed by the both of them legging it out of the room and towards the party.

The rest of them set off following behind them, not having far to go. The party was always held in the Gryffindor common room. It was tradition.

And as always, the room looked completely different. Already packed with people, more to come. Strobe lights were set up around the ceiling, creating a purple hue on the area. 'Rebel Rebel' was blasting from the record player in the corner of the room. Mary adored David Bowie, and of course so did James, obviously leading him to begin dragging her towards the dance floor...but not before getting more drinks.

So now, drinks in hand, Mary and James were very messily jumping around to Bowie, singing along at the top of their lungs.

Yet they were very unaware of Lily Evans staring at them from the sofas across the room. She felt weirdly upset.

"What are you looking at Lils?" Alice Fortescue began prying.

"What. Oh nothing." Lily mumbled back absentmindedly, still staring the pair down.

"Lils... do you like Potter?!" Alice gasped.

"What no of course not!" Lily on alert now. She absolutely did not have a crush on James Potter. The annoying James potter who liked her since 1st year.

"You so do!!"

"I dont!!"

"Yes you do you liar"

Lily was getting defensive now. Not because she actually had feelings for the boy, but because the mere idea of it was absolutely insane.

"Alice I don't like him, leave me the fuck alone!" Lily snapped, rising out of her chair and storming over to the drinks table, downing a shot of very strong fire whiskey.

Mary noticed this, of course she does, she tends to notice everything Lily does. James didn't though, Mary found that odd. He seemed distracted with something else, but she was already far too tipsy to ask about it. So instead she made her way over to Lily.

"...You okay Evans?"

"Why do you care?"

Why was Mary bloody Macdonald being nice.

"Well it looked like Fortescue was pissing you of, she pisses me off too!!" Mary laughed drunkenly, a very enthusiastic expression on her face.

Lily wasn't upset Mary had just badmouthed her friend for some reason. In truth, she was awfully taken with how good she looked at the moment. She had seen that dress in a shop in hogsmeade. She didn't think anything of it originally. But Mary made it look beautiful.

"She thinks I have a crush on Potter!"

"Oh right, well... do you?"

"No!"

"Right, sorry."

Why was Mary not feeling bad for her best friend right now?

She looked pretty in that white dress she was wearing. It was slightly lacey with bell sleeves. It made her eyes look more green than usual. Mary well and truly could not wrap her head around why she was noticing this.

"But are you okay? Arguing with your best mate isn't exactly the most fun way to spend a party."

"Yes i suppose so, I don't know why I came anyway. I might just go to bed."

"You can't do that!! You're crazy. This is quite literally the best party of the entire year!"

"I'm not exactly having much fun right now."

"You just need to learn how. Look! Everyone's sat together. Let's go over. You can stick with me!"

Neither of the girls understood the changes in both their attitude, but they welcomed it. If only just for tonight. They both just ruled it down to the alcohol.

Mary began walking over to the group of people sat around the fire place, Lilys wrist gripped lightly in her hand.

"What are you two doing with each other?" Alice questioned, a particularly bitchy tone to her voice.

"None of your business bitch." Mary giggled.

Lily smiled at that. It felt nice having Mary on her side. Having Mary around her.

The group were obviously confused, but decided to ignore it. Tonight wasn't for talking about things like that. It was for making bad decisions and getting drunk. That was the top priority.

A very dramatic gasp came from sirius, as he proceeded to imitate a lightbulb turning on above his head. A very bad imitation at that.

"Huh?" Peter said, voicing everybody's very visible confusion.

"IVE GOT AN IDEA!"

"Right, let's hear it then." Remus responded, very amused.

"LETS PLAY SPIN THE BOTTLE!"

Then came very mixed response of people agreeing and people being absolutely against the idea.

"I DONT CARE WHAT YOU SAY, WE'RE DOING IT!" Sirius shouted, downing his beer in order to use the empty bottle "HEY EVERYBODY, WE'RE PLAYING SPIN THE BOTTLE!"

And at that came many new, very drunk, additions to the group.

"RIGHT EVERYBODY GET INTO A CIRCLE"
