Chapter 6

“Guys, i have an idea, you don't have to do it, but i will regardless of what you do,” Peter announced.

Milo knew exactly what he was going to say.

“How about we become Vigilantes?” He asked.

“I'm down,” Catra replied.

“Why not?” Kipo asked. They turned to look at Milo expectantly.

“I was wondering when you would ask,” she signed. The others may think she knows everything but in all honesty Peter wasn't very discreet about it. They're just a bit oblivious. “I call dibs on designing and making costumes.”

“Thank goodness! I can't sew to save my life,” Peter sighed in relief.

“We'll have to wait and see how selling the blueprints goes,” Catra added, “Can't be a vigilante without money,”

“I'll go check on how Karen's doing with that,” Peter responded.

“I'll start working on the designs,” she pulled out a sketch she found lying around.

“Oh, me first!” Kipo declared.

“Then I'm second,” Catra huffed. She sketched out the basics.

“So I was thinking maybe…” Kipo began to describe what she wanted it to look like.

After she designed the suits and everyone was happy, she began rummaging through the clothes they had found to see if anything was usable. There wasn't much but she used what she could.

The designs were pretty simple but also had key traits so they were easily recognizable.

Wayne Enterprises had bought Peter's tech stuff, so now they had money. Yay! And what did they do with that money? Buy food and other essentials? No. They spent it on fabric!

Milo began her work, starting with Kipo’s. It was long and tedious, hand stitching everything because they couldn't afford a sewing machine. She had to make sure there were no mistakes or else it could lead to a fatal injury.

Whilst she was doing that, the others were working on their own stuff for the suits. Peter was making all the tech, like comms so they could communicate as well as web shooters for himself. Catra was doing research into the rogues and more about the weapons of this world because, you know, she's from another planet. Kipo was trying to see if she could transform her arm without ripping everything.

“Hey guys, i think it's time for my favourite thing,” Peter declared.

“And what would that be?” Catra asked.

“Dumpster diving!” Milo had to admit, that did sound pretty fun.

They made their way through the streets of Gotham, peeking in the dumpsters and stealing whatever little treasures they came across. They found quite a good haul between the four of them and only got mugged like 6 times, which was pretty good in her opinion.

She was now working on Peter’s mask, she didn't have the tech to make it expressive, but she found another way. How? Nuh uh, a magician never reveals their secrets. She found Kipo’s suit the most challenging, she had to make sure it wouldn't rip.

After she finished the others' suits, she began work on her own. Now you may be wondering why she didn't just use Luuna’s powers to make it. First of all, where's the fun in that? Second, she couldn't even if she wanted to. You see, because Luuna became tethered to her instead of the necklace, she essentially became the Miraculous. Which was weird to think about. Like, she was a magical artifact. Hmm, maybe if she wrapped herself around someone she would work the same as regular miraculous. She would have to test that another time.

She was finished with all the suits now and the others tried them on. She only had to do a touch up here and there. Peter added all the tech to them, comms, voice changers, Karen, etc. She didn't know why she needed a voice changer, but oh well.

Next stage was to do some training. Out of all of them Milo and Catra were the only ones with actual training and she was the one with most field experience. You know, having grown up an assassin then becoming the city’s one and only hope at age 13. So fun! Fuck you Master Fu! Peter and Kipo had both learned through just going with it. They needed proper training. Peter may have really great healing and the others slightly better than humans, but they still needed to be careful. Another thing they had to learn was how to use a grappling hook, because that was a thing here. She already knew from using her yoyo and Peter was going to use webs.

The last thing they needed was weapons. They decided to break into a weapon dealing place. In and out, no one would see them. Peter led the group as they entered, using his ‘Spider-sense’. That must be what was surrounding him. Catra opened the first crate, inside it was guns. Peter took the liberty of breaking the guns and rendering them unusable but still looking fine. The next box they opened had katannas and Milo swiped a few and dropped them into her shadow storage.

“Take whatever you want, I can take it,” she signed to them. They nodded.

“It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it,”Catra added.

They all began raiding through the boxes. Milo grinned as she opened a box. Inside were a bunch of kusarigama, her favourite. When she was with the LoA she had the most amazing kusarigama, but she lost it when she died. She grabbed the whole box and dumped it in a shadow. She wasn't taking any risks like she did the last time. Catra was holding a whip and attached it to her waist. Kipo had found axes and was staring at them with a bit of a sad look.

In the end they had taken the previously mentioned stuff, along with multiples. As well as a variety of daggers and knives, ninja stars, staffs, eskrima sticks, some bolos and a bunch of other stuff. It was quite a score. Why didn't more people do this?

Milo turned to look at Peter who was stealing a stash of chemicals they had in storage. She was able to see when his spider-sense went off. She wished she had something like that, it seemed pretty cool. But  for now she would have to settle with seeing Pete’s. Alarms started going off and people began approaching the room in the warehouse.

“Crap,” Peter muttered.

They needed to get out of there, and quickly. They didn't have their suits on. Milo sighed to herself and grabbed the other three, shadow hopping to the apartment.

“Well, that was…” Peter started.

“Awesome!” Kipo interrupted. “I didn't know you could do that, shadow travelling and all.”

“Well I knew,” Catra said slightly smugly. Milo pulled out their haul.

“So what do you want?” Milo asked “We should have a main weapon each and ones we keep as backup,”

“I dibs the whips,” Catra declared. “I already have experience with them.”

“I’m taking axes!” Kipo said.

“I'll stick with webs,” Peter added, “Get it? Stick?”

“We do, it's just not funny,” Catra replied. Peter pouted and crossed his arms.

“Well I'm taking the kusarigama, and if you touch them, I will slit your throats,” she signed with a smile.

“Got it,” “Sure,” “Okay,” they all responded at once. They all took their weapons of choice and began work on them.

Milo inspected the kusarigama and chose her favourite. She decided to add a design on them, make it more interesting. She added a vine pattern in navy blue with black dahlias, violets, pink anemones, rhododendron, forget-me-nots, lotus and a few others. Around the flowers she put golden bees. After she added that, she found a staff that could split in two. She decorated it with dusty purple and cobalt blue. That was her main weapons done.

Kipo had two axes, one magenta, the other red. She had turned them into guitars. On the handle of the magenta one was the head of a grumpy looking cat, under it Yumyan Hammerpaw was etched into the wood. The red one was similar, but with a different cat and the words Molly Yarnchopper. She had added straps to both of them to put on her back.

Catra had taken a whip. It was long and black. The handle was maroon and had a cat head at the bottom. She had scratched her head and another girl’s on it using her claws. She had also taken a glove with claws to reinforce her own claws. Several daggers had found their way into her position and were laying around her.

Peter was making his web fluid. He had made different types and had added them to his web shooters. He had decided not to use any proper weapons and only use his webs.

It was dark as they made their way out, suited up. Milo, Kipo and Catra watched as Peter fell head first from Wayne Enterprises before shooting out a web at the last second and swinging over to the roof they were perched on. She looked at each of their outfits and was proud of her work.

Peter’s suit was a similar style to his old one but it was black with white webbing covering it. It had a white spider symbol on the front. Over top of it he wore a blue zip hoodie with red sleeves and a black spider emblem. The hood was red and decorated with black spider webbing. The hoodie could be flipped inside out for a more discreet look, being black but having the hood the same.

Catra’s was dark red and black. Her sleeves were black with the gloves at the end, whilst the main part of her suit was burgundy and blood red. The legs were dark dark grey and she had black combat boots. She had a black cowl (not like Batman’s) that was crimson on the inside and had points for her ears. She had a rusty red headpiece in a kind of cat shape with two black triangles, looking a bit like eyes. The bottom of her face was covered with a black mask and a pointed domino mask with red outlining. Her whip was attached to her waist.

Kipo’s one was black with magenta accents to match the colour of her fur. The main body part was black and the sleeves were magenta with black gloves stopping in the middle of her lower arm. The legs were dark purple and she had a magenta hood with the same markings as her fur. Across her front were black straps with red lining from her axes on her back. She had a black domino mask with pink on the edges and around the eyes that covered her face bar from her mouth, chin and part of her forehead.

Milo’s suit was black with blue and purple. The part around her stomach was a dark dusty blue and the top part was iris with one of the sleeves being black. The legs were black and she had navy blue combat boots. On her wrists were silver snake bracelets with purple eyes that her shadows could possess and move. Over the top of her suit, she had a black cloak going down to her ankles. A big hood covered her head with two holes for her wolf ears. She had a black mask on the bottom of her face but used shadow magic to make only her eyes visible in the hood. Her eyes were wolf-like and shone dark grey and toxic green. Her staff was on her back and the kusarigama were on her sides.

“They actually worked, I was like 50% sure I would go splat!” Peter exclaimed.

“Then why did you do it dumbass?” Catra asked, putting her head in her hand and sighing.

“Because there was a 50% chance they would work, and they do so,” Peter answered.

“Lets just go,” Kipo butted in.

“Fine,” Peter said. With that they took off into the night.

Bruce scowled as he looked at the bat-computer. There had been sightings of new vigilantes but he could find practically no information about them. All he found out was there were three of them and they were all metas. The only name he could find was Web-slinger, apparently the hyphen was important. Web-slinger was the most seen by people and they all said he was young. The other two were less seen and Bruce couldn't figure out their names. He was getting frustrated. Tim and Babs were having about as much luck as him. He needed to go out and find them himself.

He and Damian went on patrol and Dick joined them. It was about an hour in when he first caught sight of one of them. A blur of red and blue whipping past them. The three of them pursued who he assumed was Web-slinger. He was fast. Flying through the streets like it was second nature, using some kind of string. Even Dick, the fastest of them, was having trouble keeping up.

Eventually, he stopped on a roof and the three bats ducked in the shadows behind him. Two more figures landed on the roof standing by Web-slinger. One was wearing red and black whilst the other was pink and black. All three of them had pretty obvious themes. Web-slinger being a spider, the red one being a cat and the pink one being a leopard.

“We know you're there, you can come out now,” Web-slinger called out, staring directly at Bruce. He hesitated for a moment before stepping out of the shadows along with Dick, Damian staying hidden.

“What do you want?” the cat one asked, her tail flicking side to side.

“We want to know what you want,” Bruce answered. “And who you are,”

“I mean it's not everyday we get three new vigilantes,” Dick added from beside him.

“Three? What do you mean three?” leopard girl questioned, looking confused. Web-slinger looked around and sighed.

“Nyx you can come out,” Web-slinger said. Out of the shadows another person stepped out. None of them had noticed them. Their face was covered by a shadow but he could see a dark grey and a green wolf-like eye staring at him.

“Well, my name is Hammerpaw,” leopard girl introduced, “And I'm a jaguar not a leopard,” how did she know he was thinking that?

“I'm Krytis,” cat girl said.

“I'm Web-slinger and the shadowy one over there,” he pointed to the wolf one, “is Nyx. she doesn't talk much.”

“If you don't mind me asking,” Dick said, “But how old are you guys, you can't be older than 12,”

“Secret identity ring any bells?” Krytis asked. Which was fair, but kids shouldn't be vigilantes- hypocrite- who said that? As well as the fact that their suits weren’t something kids could just come across. They looked professional and well made, someone must have given it to them.

Web-slinger straightened up and the others looked at him.

“Well, that's our queue, we should probably go,” he announced and the 4 Vigilantes swung off into the night. Bruce, Dick and Damian followed them.

They Ended up at a warehouse where a drug dealing was happening. The animal Vigilantes jumped in and the bats followed. It was a fairly easy fight, especially with the extra help. But since Bruce was focused on making sure the kids were alright, he didn't notice the bullet flying for his face. By the time he realized it was too late to dodge.

Then Web-slinger jumped in front of him, the bullet hitting his shoulder. He barely flinched and continued fighting.

Once the fight was over and they were about to leave, Bruce stopped them.

“Web-slinger, you're injured. You shouldn't be swinging,” Bruce said.

“Webs! We told you not to be so reckless!” Hammerpaw exclaimed.

“I'm fine,” he groaned. But when he tried to swing away, he collapsed.

“We're taking you to the cave to get treatment,” he declared. The others agreed.

Bruce led them to the Batmobile and they got in. It was a bit cramped and Nyx was nowhere to be found.

After a bit they arrived at the cave and took Web-slinger to the med bay. Alfred started tending to the wound, which was already healing around the bullet making it hard to get out.

Dick walked into the med bay where they were all gathered. Web-slinger had had the bullet removed but was still asleep. They had kept his mask on, no matter how much Bricw wanted to know who they were.

Then something unexpected happened. Web-slinger stirred and sat up. Whilst sitting up he pulled his mask off, probably out of habit. What Bruce saw was the last thing he was expecting. The kid was younger than he thought, maybe 9, and looked like a mini-Dick. But he also had a white streak in his hair. Lazarus pits. These must be the people from the pit machines they found.

He heard a glass smash behind him and saw Nyx standing there. How she had gotten there? He didn't know.

Milo had shadow hopped into the batcave only to see Peter wake up and pull his mask off. The idiot! But it was that moment it hit her. The thing in all their auras that she couldn't recognize. She knew what it was now as she looked between Peter and Dick. She dropped a glass she was holding.

The 4 of them were siblings and Dick was their father! Okay so maybe they were clones, but that was another problem she was putting away for later.

Dick gasped as Web-slinger pulled his mask off. Under it was Peter, the kid that might be his. Did that mean the others were Milo, Kipo and Catra. Wow, vigilantism really runs in the family.

He watched as Krytis and Hammerpaw sighed and looked disappointed at Peter. Peter just looked confused and guilty.

“Oops?” He said.
