Chapter 1
Marinette hadn't always been called Marinette. Before she became Marinette Dupain-cheng, daughter of two parisian bakers, she had been Milo, the Mute Mutt in the League of Assassins.
She was taken in there at a young age. No one ever saw her face because the bottom was covered with a black mask. Her hair was short and everyone assumed she was a boy.
They called her Mute Mutt because she couldn't talk and was weak like the runt of a litter. Being mute had benefits, like how everyone would run their mouths around her as she couldn't tell anyone. Among these people was Damian Al-Ghul.
She likes to think of him as her friend. He would always come and talk to her and complain. He opened up to her. Damian may have been 6 years older than her but they were close, he even gave her a name. Milo. So when during training, he had come to watch and saw the teacher beating her up, he stepped in. Just as he was about to get hit, she decided enough was enough and proceeded to take the teacher out with a swift punch to the face. Everyone stared at her but she just shrugged, wiped the blood from her fist onto her leg and walked off.
But because of her little stunt, she got sent on a mission, one she was not supposed to return from. She had gotten shot in the stomach and a knife had cut her face, going from above her left eye, to the right corner of her mouth. Then she was left to bleed out and die in the snow. And that's what happened. Dead at the age of 6.
But instead of staying dead, she woke up in an alley. A small floating wolf-like creature was inches from her face.
“Oh thank goodness, you're awake!” the tiny creature exclaimed in a rough growly voice. “Before you interrupt I'm going to explain a few things. First of all my name is Luuna, i am the wolf kwami of shadows, kinda like a god. Second, you my friend are a True Wolf which basically means you are my chosen, so i couldn't just let you die and to save you i had to attach my spirit to you to save your life. I used to be tethered to that fang necklace on your neck but now I'm stuck to you. Downside, you're not human anymore, upside, you get powers! These include being able to turn into a wolf, shadow manipulation, shadow travel, aura sensing, etc. You will also probably gain some wolf characteristics. Any questions?” the creature- Luuna -finished.
Milo sat there shocked. Mind trying to comprehend all this new information. She shook her head.
“Okay little cub, what's your name?” Luuna asked.
“Milo,” she answered, voice hoarse from disuse, “I'll probably have to change it now though, huh?”
At that moment she heard voices approaching and saw Luuna duck into her hood. Two faces appeared in her vision before she blacked out.
She ended up getting adopted by two parisian bakers and gaining the name Marinette Dupain-Cheng. The couple enrolled her in a school once she was comfortable with french. Luuna helped her master her powers and shift into a wolf. It was 7 years later when her life took a drastic turn again.
She was walking to school when she helped an old man not get hit by a car. Said old man had heavy traces of miraculous magic in his aura. She ignored it and continued to school. When she arrived she grabbed Chloé in a hug and planted a kiss on her cheek making the girl blush. She got seated next to a new girl named Alya, who claimed to be her best friend. Then came the Stoneheart attack. And the rest is history.
She was given the Ladybug Miraculous and became Ladybug with her new partner Chat Noir. He was incompetent and clearly had no experience. He also kept flirting with her and getting in the way in the middle of fights. When Adrien joined her class, she knew he was Chat instantly. Their auras were the same, but she would've been able to figure it out regardless. The most annoying part was the fact that Alya seemed to think she had a crush on him, even though she was dating Chloé, and kept coming up with, as Chloé would say: ‘ridiculous, utterly ridiculous’ plots to get her to confess.
Akumas were a whole ‘nother story. Each one as bad as the last, or even worse. No one but the miraculous wielders remembered what truly happened during those fights. Mr. Pigeon, thought of as a weak Akuma, barely accomplishing anything, was able to kill half of Paris every fight. Pigeons pecking their eyeballs out. Every Akuma was a gruesome event.
Then she became Guardian of the Miraculous, and things became even worse. She remembered every death, every injury, every erased timeline. She lived through it all and still had to act like a clumsy, bubbly girl, without any worries. Only Chloé knew of the price the guardian paid.
And when Lila came and everyone, bar Chloé, turned on her, including the two who adopted her. Her only escape was when she shifted into a wolf and ran through the wood, away from everyone and everything.
Now at the final battle, she wished she had just died on that mission all those years ago. Maybe then she would have been at peace.
Chat Noir stood above her, Ladybug Earrings clenched in one hand, the other hovering above her. She was bleeding out from her neck as he brought his hand down onto her chest.
“Cataclysm!”
Peter knew this was a really bad idea, but he didn't have another choice, did he?
“What if everyone forgot who I was?” he asked the wizard.
“What?!” Dr. Strange exclaimed
“They’re coming here because of me, right? Because I’m Peter Parker? So cast a new spell, but this time make everyone forget who Peter Parker is. Make everyone forget... me.”
“No.”
“But it would work, right?”
“Yeah, it would work. But you gotta understand that would mean that everyone who knows and loves you, we... We’d have no memory of you. It would be as though you never existed.”
“...I know. Do it.”
Dr. Strange reluctantly nodded.
“Thank you sir.”
“Call me Stephen”
“Thank you Stephen.”
Dr. Strange smiled “Yeah… still feels weird.”
“I'll see you around.” Peter says as Dr. Str- Stephen began the spell.
“So long, kid.”
It felt wrong. Like his body was being torn apart, like he was back on Titan. He thought about his friends. MJ and Ned. His Boyfriend. Johnny Storm. How he didnt get to say goodbye. Because this is probably his end. No more waking up to Aunt May’s pancakes. No more talking with Ned nonstop about Star Wars. No more looking at MJ’s crisis drawings of him. No more meeting up with Johnny at their spot in the middle of the night to eat pizza. No more Anything.
An orange flash filled his vision before it all went black
Kipo had been excited for Prahm, but never I'm a million years did she expect what had happened.
Their song was playing, and Wolf wasn't there. But she held out hope. Then she saw it, Wolf descending in Scarlemagne’s flamingo car. She looked stunning.
“Ooh, but will you dance?” Kipo asked.
Wolf sighed “You know I'm gonna.” They both grinned and started dancing. They ended up dancing off to the side in a quiet spot. Kipo tripped over, tumbling to the ground and landed on top of Wolf. Erupting into giggles they both sat up. A comfortable silence hanging over them.
“Wolf,” Kipo began quietly, “I love you.” It was so quiet, barely even audible. But Wolf heard it, staring at her eyes wide. Before a soft smile landed on her face.
“I love you too, you idiot.” And then she pulled her in for a kiss.
They broke apart, staring at each other, both blushing. Then it happened. The fireworks were set off.
Everything was a blur. All the mutes running wild as the sparks hit them. Seeking shelter. Whilst most of the humans just watched, some of them smiled widely as they saw the onslaught before them. Kipo was rushing into the midst of it, trying to help her friends. Then everything settled.
Animals were scattered about the site, no longer mutes. Her friends, helpless and no longer their former selves. Anger bubbled in her as Dr. Emelia stepped out and began some stupid speech about how it was time for a new era. But Kipo couldn't hear a thing. Mind fueled with rage, she stormed at Dr. Emelia, transforming her fist as she swung at her face. Dr. Emelia smiled smugly and dodged. Kipo felt a prick in her neck and her vision became blurry. She collapsed to the ground and the last thing she saw was her parents’ faces hovering above her.
“Sorry Kipo, it's for the best.”
When she heard, she was devastated. She had been captured for almost a year, whilst they extracted her DNA to cure the mutes. Now she had nothing left. Her parents had betrayed her, most of her friends had been ‘cured’ and now Wolf was dead. She needed to get out of there.
After an explosion, she was able to escape, making it look like she died. But what she found was not the world she knew and loved. It was different. The buildings all looked intact, people walked the streets and there were no mutes.
She learned to stay unnoticed, fend for herself and fight without transforming. After a year of surviving on her own, she found a familiar face. Tad Mulholland. He had been able to escape and now the duo stuck together, in a world so different from the one they knew. Without any one but each other.
But it was all ruined when they found her. Fire danced towards her face as she struggled to free her leg from the debris. They had set on fire the building she was staying in. Her ears pricked at a sound and her head snapped up. The floor above her came crashing down, and pain engulfed her body. She lost. They had finally won.
“Don't you get it? I love you. I always have. So please, just this once. Stay!” Catra cried, clinging onto Adora’s hand. “Stay.”
The heart began to flash bright with green.
“You… love me?” Adora choked out.
“You're such an idiot.” she shook her head. Adora looked up at her, a fond smile on her face.
“I love you too,” Catra scooped up her head and kissed her. Tears still streaming down her face. The failsafe became more green as Adora screamed before falling limp.
“No no no no. NO! Adora!” she held her body and cried into her chest. It wasn't fair. Adora always sacrificed everything for others and now she was gone. She didn't deserve this.
“Well, well, well, little sister,” a voice said behind her. She flinched and snapped her head back. Horde Prime stood there, grinning widely as he stared at her. “How does it feel to know you've lost?” His gaze shifted to Adora. “Such a pity, she had so much potential, but in the end it was all pointless.”
Catra lunged at him, swiping her claws. He dodged, side stepping her easily.
“You know little sister, I had such high hopes for you, it's never too late to join me again.”
“Never!” she spat out through gritted teeth. “I would rather die than join you!”
“If that is your wish,” he said, stabbing his arm through her stomach. She clutched at the open wound and stumbled back, falling to the ground. Blood seeped from the wound and began dribbling out of her mouth.
“So long little sister”
