Chapter 11

The drive back to the Washington's place was rather quiet.

Sam stared out of the window of Jordan’s car, her mind in deep thought.

She turned her head when she felt Beth stir as she leaned against Hailey.

Hannah was looking out of the window herself. Probably in her own world thinking about the night.

Jordan was probably in his own world as well. She noticed the two of them sharing quick glances at each other.

They were a really sweet pair for each other. She was happy for Hannah. After that fiasco in February, things were awkward beyond belief between most of the group so seeing Hannah happy with Jordan eased her nerves a little bit.

Jordan pulled back into the Washington’s driveway and turned off the engine. “Well, here we are.”

Beth grumbled as she lifted her head from Hailey’s shoulder.

Hannah exited the car and pulled the seat forward for the three passengers in the back.

Sam exited and stretched.

“Well well well.” A voice called from not too far away.

They all turned to see Josh on the porch.

Hannah stormed over to Josh. “Did you pay Joey to rig the results?”

Josh’s face turned confused. “Woah woah woah, what’re you talking about?”

Hannah raised an eyebrow in skepticism. “I won Prom Queen because Joey rigged it.”

“He did what?!”  Josh’s eyes widened. “That’s stupidly noble.”

Beth walked up the steps of the porch and past her brother with Hailey. “I said the same exact thing.”

"But to answer your question: No. Why would I even do that?"

"Because you're Josh." Jordan laughed.

"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?" Josh raised an eyebrow.

"That means you're always up to something." Hannah giggled.

“I’m gonna get going. Getting tired.” Sam said, hugging Hannah and Jordan before beginning to walk away. “It was great seeing you all.”

Jordan and Hannah gave Josh a go after her look. He understood their looks and called out to Sam. “Hey! Wait up!”

He hurriedly walked after her. “Yes, Josh?”

“Let me at least walk you home.” He said with a smile. “It’s dark out. Wouldn’t want anything to happen to you.”

Sam simply smiled and they walked down the street in the direction of her house.

It was a rather quiet walk, neither of them saying much if anything.

“Did you have fun?” Josh broke the silence.

“I did. It was a nice time. It was awkward at first but everything went rather well.”

Josh raised an eyebrow. “Nothing bad happened?”

“Not really. It was more good than anything. Although Beth did embarrass Myron.”

Josh raised an eyebrow. “What’d that asshole do?”

“Well, he had forced himself onto Hannah. Or at least tried to.”

“Excuse me?!” Josh’s eyes widened.

“Luckily, Jessica and Matthew had gotten there just in time to take care of him. Then he tried to slither away but Beth got a hold of him. You should’ve seen his face. She really scared the hell out of him.”

This relieved him instantly. “Well. Serves him right. That asshat had it coming.”

Josh looked Sam up and down. “You look gorgeous, Sam.”

Sam’s cheeks heated up. “Thank you, Josh.”

Sam’s house came into view. “Well. Here’s my stop.”

Josh stopped in front of her porch. “Well. I’ll see you later, Sam.”

Sam smiled at him as she walked up the stairs of her porch.

“Josh!”

He turned around to see Sam gently place a kiss on his cheek.

“Goodnight.”

He stood in shock as he watched her walk into her house.

As he walked back to his house, he pumped a fist with a “Yes.”
