Chapter 2
“Lip gloss or lipstick?” Sam asked, digging through a makeup box.
“Gloss. It suits her more.” Beth said, inspecting Hannah’s face.
“Lose these, they’re really big on your face.” Sam pulled Hannah’s glasses off. “Now don’t move.”
Sam leaned forward as she applied lip gloss to Hannah’s lips.
“Don’t you think this is a little too much?” Hannah asked.
“You want to look good, don’t you?” Beth raised an eyebrow.
“I do but are you sure that I need this much makeup?”
“Don’t worry, Hannah. Have faith. We’re not going to overdo it.”
Hannah huffed but didn’t stop them from continuing. "Do you think he'll like how I look?"
"Jordan may be many things but complicated is definitely not one of his traits." Beth said dismissively. "He is simpler than making a sandwich."
"C'mon, don't you think that's a bit of an underestimation?" Sam gave Beth a look. "There's definitely more under that stoic bravado than that meets the eye, Beth."
"Oh be serious, Sam."
