Chapter 8

Ron, Delilah, and Harry all made their way towards Hagrid’s hut. It was wooden and on the edge of the forbidden forest. Harry knocked on the door and they all three stood back and waited. Ruckus filled the small house as Hagrid moved throughout. After a few attempts of Hagrid trying to hold back an animal called Fang, he let them inside his home.
“Make yerselves at home.” said Hagrid.
“Hagrid,” Harry said, “This is Ron.” Harry said motioning in the direction of said person.
“Another Weasley, eh?” Hagrid said, “I spent half my life trying to keep your twin brothers away from the forest.” Ron seemed to clench up at his statement but after Hagrid continued his nerves seemed to ease, “How’s your brother Charlie? I liked him a lot- great with animals.”
“He’s good. Haven’t spoken to him in a while though.” Ron replied.
“You know my godsister Delilah.” Harry continued.
“She’s your godsister!” Ron blurted out.
“I thought I told you.” Harry said.
“Yeah Ron, catch up.” said Delilah.
“I remember. Harry and Delilah’s parents going to school together.” Hagrid said, “Both of Harry’s parents went to Hogwarts. James Potter and Lily Evans. Harry looks exactly like his father except for his eyes, those are his mother’s. Now you Delilah Black. I know your mother went to Ilvermorney but I don’t know exactly who but your father. You look like your father in some way that I just can’t quite figure out. Your parents were all close friends before you know who.”
Delilah started to tune out the rest of what he was saying, memories being too terrible as her curious side decided to take over at that moment as she followed her eyes to a newspaper. It had some headline about a break in at Gringotts just a little before they got to Hogwarts. Unbeknownst to Delilah at the time, Harry must have also thought the memories were too terrible to remember and caught a glimpse of the newspaper. Harry put his hand on Delilah’s shoulder as she turned her head to him. They were almost exactly the same height with Delilah being a bit over half an inch taller than Harry.
“Does this article mean anything to you?” asked Delilah, her face scrunched up in confusion.
“Yeah it does.” Harry replied. “Hagrid, that Gringotts break in happened on my birthday! It must have happened while we were there.” Delilah could tell Hagrid was trying to avoid looking in any of their eyes but instead of just ignoring Harry, he offered them another rock cake. Delilah accepted and grabbed another one while Harry read over the article one more time and then they were on their way back to the castle.
