Chapter 2

A/N: The first few chapters aren’t as good in my opinion as the later chapters at Hogwarts where they are not little kids but they will be coming soon.

Over the next few years Delilah was raised by Sirius with some help from Remus as the war continued. She had quite long hair and was pretty advanced for a two year old. She could already speak in full sentences by the time she was one and a half. Lilly was her godmother, while Remus and James were both her godfathers. For a war everything was peaceful until the night of October 31st 1982.
On November 2nd 1982 Remus rushed to his and Sirius’s flat after hearing the news of the Potters.
He missed the lock several times before finally getting the key in the hole. When he finally got the key in he rushed into the house.
“Delilah!” He looked into the kitchen and her bedroom, “Delilah!” He looked in the living room and the bathroom, His heart was practically in his throat now, “Delilah Arcturus Black!” He then heard sniffling from Sirius’s bedroom. “Delilah.” She was sitting on his bed with a blanket wrapped around her. “Delilah, Are you ok?” She nodded her head in response.
“Remus, where’s dad?” Her small voice asked.
“Dad- isn’t going to be around here anymore.”
“He’s dead.” She said more than asked.
“No he’s not. He’s just not going to be around anymore.”
“Why?” She asked, looking up at him with eyes that looked as if the world just ended right then. She looked terrified and lost like her lantern had just gone out with no way to light it. . “I- I’m never going to s- ee him again?”
“Your father didn’t make great choices Deliah.” His voice wavering slightly more with each word. “You’re going to stay with me until they can find your mother. Is that o-okay?” Her head gently moved up and down, her face covered in rain drop like tears.
“Come here.” He motioned up to the bed she knew her father would never sleep in again. She grabbed onto him as though he was a lifeline as he grabbed a book and started reading to her until her eyes ran out of tears and shut.
