Alice was always mesmerized by the girl that came in like clock work twice a day. In the morning, ordering black coffee with two sugars, and in the afternoon, getting an ice tea. She would sit at the same table with her laptop, hair in a messy bun, looking prettier every time Alice would see her.

She even knew her name: Narcissa.

One night Alice even had a dream about her. A romantic one. Full of soft hands and even softer kisses. A picnic date with flowy dresses and messy buns.

Alice never told a soul about that dream. Not even Frank. It was just too weird. Such a romantic dream about a girl she didn’t even know. Yet she still thinks about it from time to time. Imagining what it would be like for it to come true.

As creepy as it was, Alice would often stare at Narcissa when she wasn’t watching. One day Narcissa caught her. She looked up, locking eyes with Alice, and gave a small smile quickly going back to whatever she was doing. Alice felt blood rush to her cheeks.

She hasn’t stared at Narcissa since that day.

“At least say hi to the girl,” Frank, the ever loving and patient Frank had even been starting to lose it.

“I can’t do that. That’d be so awkward. What do I say after that?” Alice freaked out.

“I don’t know. Just say anything at this point cause I’m losing it here Al,” Frank sighed.

“Nope no not gonna happen never ever,” Alice crossed her arms.

“Let’s make a bet then,” Frank smirked.

“And why should I?” Alice furrowed her brows.

“Afraid you’ll lose Fortescue?” Frank raised an eyebrow. Alice sighed.

“In your dreams Longbottom,” Alice held out her hand.

Alice lost.

So now she somehow has to work up the courage to talk to her. Ugh. Alice paced back and forth behind the counter, her eyes going wide. She took a deep breath and braced herself.

‘Okay Alice you’ve got this’ she thought. One last breath then she walked out in front of the counter. ‘Is it too late to back out now?’ She shook her head and started walking.

“Umm hi,” Alice gave a small smile.

“Hi,” Narcissa’s smile was bigger.
