He loves a certain someone

Another knock and another. In a repeating pattern. It bothered Regulus that the knocking wasn't the same volume each time, the sound constantly going up and down each time. Sirius had the same issue too. He could tell that his older brother was just as irritated. "I'll get it." Regulus offered, swiftly standing up and walking up towards the door. James was about to knock again when the door slowly creaked open. The boy stood there awkwardly with his hands in his pockets, his hand still in the air, mid knock. Regulus seemed unimpressed as he looked James up down. Scruffy uniform, messy hair, and lazy stance. There was something about him that was intriguing though, something that was hidden in the scruffy appearance of the boy in front of him.

"Well hello Potter. What are you doing here? You haven't been invited and I don't recall me asking you to meet me. Wait let me guess. You wanted to see where I was hiding so that you can annoy me and flirt so horribly it hurts just so that you can get my attention. " he told the boy coldly. Not even a drop of emotion leaked out of his words. James knew he had messed up again. He always did it. But that voice. The death of him and his dignity. He had to get himself in check before anybody notices but every little detail of Reg was perfect.

"I came to make sure that Sirius was alright?" James said his voice making it a guess instead of a statement.

"Ah I see. Well in that case, he is inside I'm sure he is expecting you now. Sirius?" Regulus called behind him.

"Yeah, yeah I know."

A wave of relief washed over James ' face now knowing that Reg had cooled down slightly. "Thank you, Reg" he said with a lopsided grin that made Regulus melt inside. It was just too cute to not kiss the little edges but he had to control himself. James surely didn't like him back. Sure his brother and friends liked him but James? That was impossible.

"What did I say about you calling me that?"

"Um.. ' Never call me that. I'm not your friend.' Or something?"

" You are such an idiot James I swear to Merlin! "

"Oh I know that."

" I will never let you forget that then. " That smooth God damn voice. James felt heat rushing towards to his cheeks. No matter how much he tried to hide it. He was head over heels in love with the younger Black. The one person he couldn't love. The person that could ruin him. The person that could easily kill him in an instant. The person that could break his heart. But also the only person that could teach him the impossible stories. That could tell him the stories behind every constellation the sky. The person who he would die for. But Sirius would surely not approve. Regulus was his brother after all. But he just couldn't resist that voice sweet like honey and thick with hidden emotion. Regulus surely didn't like him back? He barely had any tolerance for his presence let alone his love. He hides every emotion from everyone including himself. He had to focus on Sirius but that voice wouldn't leave his mind no matter how much he tried to make it leave. It was hypnotising drawing him further into his love for that boy. Every ounce of love that James had left in him went towards Regulus. He snapped himself back into reality.

"How are you Sirius? Didn't start a fight I hope. " James asked sort of concerned for his friend who looked like he had been crying. To fair Regulus looked the same as well.

"Are your expectations really that low James?" Sirius asked reading James' expression like a book with a raised eyebrow. "You really need to raise them if they are."

" Well it is your brother after all. "

"What about his brother?" Regulus said behind James, staring into his soul. " Don't forget I'm in the room James. I know you have the tendency to forget things" James had to hide his face since it was now the colour of the Gryffindor flags.

"Did I make the almighty James Potter blush? This is a new achievement" Reg teased laughing slightly. That laugh was a almost musical like the keys of an old piano. Light, magical and the ability to make many people swoon. Including James Potter. The one that fell the hardest. The one who would love with his whole heart if he could. Sirius looked at James with an unimpressed look painted onto his face. Of course Sirius didn't approve, he always looked down at anyone who fell for his brother, James guessed it was finally his turn at being scolded.

"Really James?" Sirius laughed snapping his fingers in front of James' face to wake him up. It was fun to see James be completely in love. He was horrible at concealing it. It was so obvious it hurt. James leaned against the wall whilst the Black brothers shared an uninterested look at him. They both had their arms crossed with their wands in their left hand. If it weren't for their ties, they would have been identical and difficult to tell apart. Their gaze was unsettling as they weren't soft but they were not intended to scare which made it even scarier for him. Why did they have to be so similar?

"What did I do know?" James asked

"Well you have just disrupted a meeting that not even Minnie would disrupt. And you literally have no sense of self preservation." Regulus listed

"You so oblivious it hurts both of us and you always expect the worst of me when I am around my brother." Sirius continued as he hardened his glare to stone making James uneasy. He decided to look at Reg. His worst mistake so far. Even when annoyed he was absolutely beautiful. Every detail shone in the fire's light. The way the light danced on every feature of his face. How it highlighted his eyes and ice cold gaze. Saying that he loved regulus was an understatement, he adored him, he was obsessed. There were so many words to describe what he felt for that boy.
