The battle had begun. Students fighting against the death eaters all through hogwarts. The dark slowly progressed more and more into the castle till they had cornered all of the students and teachers in the great hall.
Except they hadn't, the great hall actually surprisingly had very few students within it. Only one seemed to realise who was missing though.
“Where are the muggle raised students? I wish to inform them of the change in authority around here.” It was no surprise that it was Voldemort who broke the sorrowful silence in the great hall, though it did cause quite a few of the teachers to panic, only now realising that they were missing a large proportion of their students, who they had sworn to protect.
The teachers and students of course all jumped to the conclusion that the dark lord had ordered his death esters to kill them as they were going through the school, and to just leave their bodies behind. As well as his statement being a way of gloating that they were now all dead.
That was until a rather timid student spoke up “they said that they do not wish to participate in the war, so they did not join us” that of course shocked a lot of people, why did they not want to fight for their livelihood, for their continuous happiness and chances of success.
They had of course not realised that all of the muggle raised were also pursuing a muggle education, that they were perfectly capable and content to leave the wizarding world and magic behind.
“Then where are they?” Came after a few seconds of contemplation. It was at this point that people realised that he was actually curious about the whereabouts of people who he deemed to be less important due to their blood status.
This time the thing that they had failed to realise was that voldemort was a halfblood and was muggle raised. It was thought impossible for him to be anything but pureblood, the purebloods believing this due to his power, and the half bloods and muggleborns due to his desire to alienate and eradicate them from society.
“I think they said that they were going to go find a way into the slytherin common room or the kitchens.” It was a different person who replied this time, though the two were unusually close and clingy with one another, probably friends, or maybe just traumatised and in need of comfort to the point that they will accept it willingly from a stranger.
A few moments passed before the next words this time directed at his followers “well go find them then.” That immediately brought the silence to an end as the death eaters scrambled to the dungeons, not knowing where the kitchens were, all heading towards the common room that many of them had spent 7 years living in.
Many of those running at the front, disgusted by the fact that there may be non-purebloods in ‘their’ common room.
They were of course quite relieved when they got there and it was empty, before the panic set in. This meant that they were in the kitchens, none of them knew where the kitchens were, why would they, everything they needed for food wise was provided for in the great hall, and if they were hungry outside of that then they would just call a family house elf for it.
Slowly they walked back to the great hall to ask about the whereabouts of the kitchens, of course forgetting that the Hogwarts house elves were easy to call upon and would give the information freely.
The enquiry was quite painful, the one who had the courage to ask was promptly crucioed, they were all then berated before being told to “just go stand with the students here, make sure they don't do anything stupid” they were quite confused by the demand, who was going to find a way to get to the students in the kitchen.
They were even more confused when their lord took out a black thin rectangle from his pocket. Though no one dared to ask, especially when he started tapping on it. The students were more confused though, at least those whose friends had explained technology to them, ‘why did the dark lord have a phone?, how does he know how to use it?, what was he doing?’
There was of course the simple answer to the first and second questions: he never fully left the muggle world that he was born into, he embraced it, kept up with their advancements and technologies. His internal argument being that ‘they can not kill them or isolate themselves from them if he does not know what they are capable of, know thy enemy and all of that.’
Though the answer to the third was not something to be explained to them, how does one explain hacking to people who have never stepped foot into the muggle world, or not even know what a car or phone is. The answer was simple though not to them.
He was going to get their attention by hacking into the AO3 servers, he was going to cause the website to crash, to be disabled, to go down, and he was going to leave a message that it was him who caused the problem, though he did somehow limit that to only going out to people in a 10 mile radius, so basically you would only see it if you were on hogwarts property. Though he would never admit to knowing what AO3 is, just that ‘he knows that a lot of youths use it these days.’
It didn’t take long for the people in the great hall to hear the cursing and shouting from the hallway outside, slowly getting louder. Apparently what the dark lord did on the small rectangle box really pissed them off.
What Voldemort had failed to realise was that they were in the kitchen when he did this, they were where there was a plentiful supply of extremely sharp knives and that they would quite easily go to war over AO3 being down for less than a minute.
It was the second that the first one come charging into the great hall, knives in both hands, glaring at him like she wants him dead and would do anything to ensure it, did he realise that the had just ‘royally fucked up.’
It did not take long for all of the death eaters and voldemort to be dead, knives sticking out of only a few of them, why would they leave the knives there when they can rip them back out, causing them to bleed to death, or drown in their own blood, if they did not hit and vital organs, killing them immediately, when they could insead go and kill another.
It was a bloodbath, and the muggleborns laughed in it, they celebrated each gruesome death, and screamed profanities, threats, and a series of words which sounded along the lines of ‘how could you, how dare you’. Though it was difficult to hear over the screams and concentrate with the pungent smell of blood.
The students somehow did not get in trouble for that though, maybe the act fell under some kind of self defence, but all those who were there and survived believed that it was mostly that the government feared what they would do to them if they put them in azkaban as there is no access to AO3 there.
