“That’s not the same thing. The boyfriend didn’t physically abuse her for years. If she left it would be because she didn’t love him anymore. Regulus could just be taking the easy way out. He could still be like them.”
“You don’t believe that.”
“I don’t know, Lils. Maybe I do.”

“Okay, well say I don’t. Where does that leave me? Regulus realised how awful they were and left not only to escape, but to be a better person and decided I wasn’t good enough to be part of his new life? Great, that’s so much better.”
“Yeah, that’s definitely worse.”
“Thanks. You’re helping so much.”
“But, that’s not what happened. Regulus doesn’t have any way to contact you. He physically couldn’t, even if he wanted to.”
“Cissy managed it.”
“Marlene can slam dunk a basketball but Mary can’t. That means nothing.”

“Call Narcissa back and ask for Regulus’ number. That way you can ask him yourself.”
“What? Are you crazy? There is no way-”
“Okay, okay, I get it. Just hear me out, okay? Here is what we know: Regulus has left your family. Narcissa is in contact with him, Andy is not. This could be a recent thing, if Narcissa still has his number. Maybe he hasn’t had time to call you, or –like I said before– he just doesn’t have a way to contact you. It’s no use making up scenarios in our heads. Just ask him.”
“You just disproved yourself. If Narcissa is in contact with Regulus and has my number, then there is a very easy, direct way for him to get in contact with me.”
“Okay, fine. But maybe he didn’t know Narcissa had your number. Maybe she kept it for emergencies. Didn’t you say your parents would go through your phones? So maybe he didn’t want to risk having the number in there, and never got a chance to ask Narcissa for it when he left.”
“What about after he left?”
“This could go on forever. There is only one way to know and that is to. Call. Him.”
