Chapter 6
1943
"Horcrux?" Tom seemed to have never heard that word and it didn't surprise him, it was a fact that had been buried by Herpo himself for the shame of not having discovered immortality.
He gave Tom a mocking look, it was funny to have knowledge that this teenager didn't have "Yes, my dear ignorant. A horcrux, in theory, is a magical artifact in which a person's feelings should be implemented, the most intense feeling, and this would cause a part of you to merge with the object, giving you eternal life" Tom was thoughtful "This was written by Herpo, but obviously it failed. What we want is to be able to completely revise the theory he wrote and then be able to correct it."
"And if we correct it, we could create a horcrux" commented with eyes full of malice Tom "We could obtain eternal life and give it to the whole wizarding world" and maybe, just maybe... I could make more friends. To be honest he didn't like being with Tom, he was a very despicable and self-centered person, so if he could get away from Tom he would be very happy.
Then Tom had to fight to get the book he had asked for, supposedly there was a teacher who was making it difficult for him to get it, he understood that teacher was constantly watching Tom because he did not trust him. So it was funny to see how upset Tom was about not getting the book for a week.
"Damn Dumbledore!" growled Tom walking desperately through the disused classroom "He's been preventing me from meeting the principal or some other teacher alone, surely he must suspect that we're doing something..." He was silent, looking at him doubtfully.
"You said that all the teachers loved you, that you were the star student and that nobody denied you anything" he scoffed. He was given the opportunity to annoy that idiot and he took it, it was what he deserved for putting up with it for a long time.
"Shut up! It's just that fucking Dumbledore, he's got something against me." he growled stomping all over the place "But, this week if or yes I will meet with Principal Dippet or Professor Slughorn, they will give me the pass for the restricted section of the library and you will have your fucking book at last"
Said and done, a few days later Tom arrived with the book and a smug smile.
I hated it so much.
They started reading the book on The Secrets of the Darkest Arts where there was a whole chapter on Herpo's failed experimentation.
"So, he linked these horcrux to people's feelings. The most intense feeling one had was enclosing him in an object" Tom gave a simple summary of what Herpo did many years ago "But it ended up failing, why?"
"Maybe because feelings are volatile?" had the young man's full attention "Feelings change according to circumstances. What you love in the present, you may not love in the future. Feelings vary too much, we need something stable and continuous over time."
"What is continuous in a wizard? The magic?"
"Magic becomes more powerful and wise with the passing of the years, and would you like to enclose a part of your magic? You would be restricting your power" it couldn't be magic, nor feelings.
"You only refute my ideas, you still don't give any idea" complained Tom from a chair, he was looking at the ceiling, surely thinking of some solution.
He obviously had an idea, but it would poison the wizard.
What was constant in a wizard or mugle? His soul, all living beings were born with it and it remained the same with the passage of time. The soul is a religious composition, it is an abstract entity traditionally considered the immaterial part that, together with the body or material part, constitutes the human being; It is credited as storing the ability to feel and think. In addition, there are several theories that affirm that the soul remains intact and without wounds, since it doesn't suffer damage before physical means, not even before the death of the body of the being to which it belongs.
Therefore, the soul would be the solution.
What was eternal? The body or the soul?
Obviously the soul, that's why ghosts exist. The body is only a vessel, leaving the earthly plane one day, but the soul is eternal.
So, if one wanted to be immortal, one had to take his soul as the tool to his end, but... But this would corrupt the soul, wouldn't it? Because they should tear a piece of a magician's soul to be able to introduce it into an object and it is protected for all eternity. Who would be capable of tearing out a piece of his soul? What wizard would be crazy enough to do so much damage just to achieve immortality?
I didn't know what to do. Should he tell Tom about his theory? Tom wasn't the most sane person I had ever met, he had angry outbursts, he was very vain and self-centered. If I told him that they could attain immortality by introducing a part of their soul, would he stop? Or would it continue? Would he know about the serious consequences of shattering his soul? Or wouldn't you care what you have to do to achieve your goal?
He was determined not to tell him anything, however, if he wasn't able to provide help, maybe Tom would return him to infinity heaven and just for disturbing him, he was sure that he would hide the mirror so that no one would ever find him. He would be completely alone for eternity.
I didn't want that.
He didn't want to be alone with the stars again.
I wouldn't resist more loneliness.
I'd rather die.
"We can use the soul" he took his choice, and Tom gave him his full attention.
Why do you feel that you just condemned the world?
1994
He was excited, Sirius and Remus were with him in the Shrieking Shack, they had gone during the outings they had during Hogsmeade. There was only him, Draco, Sirius and Remus. They understood that Hermione had gone with Ron, to make that idiot understand that he hadn't put his name on the chalice. Seriously, I didn't understand why Ron believed that nonsense. For Godric's sake! He didn't like being the center of attention, let alone risking his life in a fucking championship against other schools.
Although to be honest, he didn't feel too bad now. If someone hadn't put his name on the fucking chalice, chances are he would never have met Draco and now he couldn't imagine a life without him. Draco was like a respite from his busy and perilous life. He felt that he could be the same and not be judged, he felt at peace. Ah! How I loved him.
Ugh! No, no, no. He couldn't fall in love with an object, their relationship would be impossible, but he couldn't help but feel this rapid beating of his heart every time he heard his laughter or threw out a witty mockery. Why couldn't Draco be a child like him? You know, with a physical body.
"Hey Harry! Drakon!" said an excited Sirius as he saw them arrive. Drakon? "We haven't seen you for years... well I was locked up in Azkaban, but we haven't seen you for years" He continued after ruffling his hair and reaching for the mirror to hold Draco in his hands.
"Really? Haven't we seen each other for years and the first thing you tell me is a nickname I've never liked?" heard Draco's offended voice "Ah! Hello Rem" his voice changed to a much kinder one, he could even risk saying that he felt the affection. His old teacher only nodded his head slightly, and his look was nostalgic.
"Let's put aside the presentations, better tell us what you were doing. Who all these years did you stay with?" Sirius looked curious.
"Actually, I was out of service all these years. I was only able to come back when Harry summoned me."
Remus walked over worriedly, "Were you locked up all these years?"
"We are already two" complained Sirius whimpering "We were both locked up, me in Azkaban and you in the infinite sky. Poor us"
"What about you, Rem? What did you do all these years?" At that time his former teacher began to tell them about his isolation for the pain of having lost all his friends in the same night. He also commented that he never found Draco's mirror or if he hadn't taken it, he always believed that it had been destroyed because it wasn't in his father's objects.
He also told the adults, who did look like adults, about the Triwizard Tournament and what advice they would give him. Obviously, his godfather just winked at him and told him that the best actions come out improvising (Nothing useful, thank you) and Remus, told him that he should learn all protection spells, he had even come with a book about those spells.
"So... are you still a fugitive from justice?" he asked, looking at Sirius who nodded, "When will you be able to declare yourself? You've been putting off your statement for years, and you're not getting any younger." Remus laughed and Sirius gasped clutching his chest, as if he had been mortally wounded.
"Maybe it won't make me younger, but they don't say that the older the wine, the more delicious it will taste" he felt sorry for his godfather, especially when he was smiling as if he were a model. Were all the seniors that weird and embarrassing?
Taking away all the embarrassment, I had a doubt "Declare? Before Draco would have mentioned a certain Snirius. Is that the name of the person you love?" that made Draco laugh and Sirius blush.
"Snirius, it's not a person's name, Harry" Remus corrected.
"You can't blame me for believing it, in the wizarding world I've heard the strangest names... a close example is that of Sirius and Draco" the two mentioned were offended "That's right, both of you don't get like that. In the muggle world you would never hear those names."
"Our names are unique"
"Why would they need another one of us?"
"Thanks to Merlin, the two are unique. I don't think the world can take more of you two" said the only true adult there.
He wondered if that's how conversations played out when everyone was younger, Sirius and Draco driving Remus crazy, and his teacher tired of listening to so much nonsense together, what would his father be doing? Would he also get into the joke? Or would he try to control them?
How he would have liked to meet him. Both his dad and his mom.
He felt that his heart was oppressing trying to think about his parents, so he decided to return to his initial question "They didn't answer me about the Snirius" yes, it was better to change the course of his thoughts. He didn't want to change the atmosphere of the place with his whining.
"It's the name we use when joining Sirius' name with his crush" Draco scoffed, even though his godfather tried to shut him up. Made silly, because You couldn't silence a mirror, you can't cover Draco's mouth because you'd hit the glass.
"It's been years since I heard about the Snirius until I thought Sirius had gotten over his crush when we faced him right here last school year." "It even bothered him, although that had to be a sign" Remus looked at his godfather "You always got nervous and annoyed him"
"Sirius Black's method of seduction"
"Shut up, Draco!" said a blushing Sirius "We wouldn't be talking about this, if you had kept your mouth shut, and for your information I already got over it" he didn't believe him and he didn't know who his godfather was in love with, but that blush and nervousness were very telling.
And while they were arguing he just started to think.
Snirius is from the union of his godfather's name and his crush. It was obvious that the IRIUS was for Sirius, so the SN remained to be discovered. In addition, according to Remus they had met again here and had faced each other. The only person the two adults faced here were Pettigrew (obviously not him) and Professor SNape.
No, no, no, no, I couldn't believe it. It was impossible. "It's Professor Snape!" he couldn't help but shout in horror at the conclusion he had reached.
In the Shrieking Shack, Sirius Black's unconvincing cry of "NO!" was heard, and the laughter of his two friends, laughing at their misfortunes.
And he couldn't believe it.
