A chilly day in the Gryffindor common room proved to be the one that changed everything, some friendships turned into a lot more, while some bloomed into a feeling that one quite could not name. It was by the fireplace where the three young Gryffindors sat snickering and giggling making fun of each other when the Fat lady’s portrait slid open to reveal the entrance to let someone in the room. Face as red as her hair, Lily Evans stood on the doorway looking skeptically at what appeared to the Marauders, however, her eyes fixed slipped automatically to the boy with messy black hair who had grown into a very annoyingly attractive young lad whose sight Lily could not ignore even if she wanted to.
There were whispers everywhere about the Gryffindor’s seeker; his hazel eyes, messy hair, witty remarks, and the heart-throbbing smirk that inhabited so many students' hearts. Lily had refrained from her feelings from taking over her. The mind was an enemy of the body, Even now out of her will she found herself staring at him, the playfulness with which he talked, the way he tossed his head making his hair go funny. She was deep in her thoughts that she didn’t realize Remus looking at her.
“Hey Lils what are you staring at” Remus, who had been with her in the library and was now standing beside her, said. She snapped from her chain of thoughts and looked at Remus, forced a smile, and realized that her cheeks were hot and she blimey she could be blushing like a total idiot. Remus smiled a knowing smile, if it were possible Lily turned a redder shade of red. She hit Remus on his shin, “Stop it Lupin”
“Stop what Lily?” the corner of Remus’ mouth curved further, which was annoying.
“You know perfectly well what I mean” She snapped, which only resulted in His smile increasing. He let out a short laugh
“Lils I love you but it's high time now, you need to accept it”
“Accept what!?”
Remus shook his head and smiled. “Your feelings”
“And just what are my feelings Lupin?”
“Oh, that is for you to decide” She turned to him. He was watching her carefully, waiting for an answer, She turned back toward the fireplace, the warmth drawing her towards it. She let out a sigh. Remus was correct, she had to sort out her feelings but she wasn’t the only one who was pressing down her feelings. “What about you Re?”
“What about me, what?” Remus asked with an emotion that was puzzled and startled, as if She had asked the question, he had been asking himself now. She had seen it, sensed it, probably the same way Remus had about her. They knew each other too well to hide anything. “What about your feelings? Why don’t you tell him how you feel?”
Remus stared at the sofa by the fireplace, which was taken by the sun itself. The light to his dark. The one who held him when he was falling down, without realizing he made Remus fall for him. The warmth to his cold. The heart to his soul; Sirius Black. Remus’ heart danced when he saw him, it was a foreign feeling one he could not quite name.
A feeling he could never have.
“It is not about how I feel Lils. Its not fair for me to feel this, whatever it is. The feeling that eats me, stops me from sleeping, the feeling I cannot name. and besides even if I sort it out” He shrugged “the feeling you know, It won't mean I will have it, someone like me does not deserve it” He smiled sadly looking at his feet.
“Its absolutely fair Remus, you don’t have to think about yourself the way you do. You are an amazing person, A I-didn’t-knew-someone-like-you-existed kind of person. Maybe you don’t see it but I do. You both are perfect”
“that is what I say about you both, besides-“Before he could complete James interrupted
“Heyyyy Evans, How are you?” and there it was the smirk that had first made Lily’s heart jump. She ignored him. Sirius smiled and said teasingly “You don’t have to reply Evans, James is just a little high, not that he drank anything except maybe a couple of butterbeers”
Lily couldn’t help but smile “Your specs are tilted Potter did you know?” James sat upright in an instant and tried to set his glasses right, in a way which was very funny. Peter laughed looking at James only to tell him that his glasses were already placed perfectly, and Lily was medalling with him. Everyone laughed “Didn’t know you could joke Evans” James said grinning. Lily stood there for a second before going over to the table and keeping her books and playfully hitting James on his forehead “Lets go for a walk Potter, its okay if you don’t want to” She shrugged knowingly. James was petrified for a second before standing awkwardly and saying “Holy Molly How can I ever say No, Im just battling myself to know if I just heard what you said correctly”
“I do not like to repeat myself, Potter, I’m on my way, you need to be quick” With this Lily turned toward the door while giving Remus a smile that suggested what She was about to do. Remus returned the smile as he watched Lily and James go out of the common room.
He then turned towards Sirius and felt his heart skip a beat.
