James was a bright person but ever since he’d found out about Lily and Snape he just shut himself and everyone out and it was concerning everyone! No one liked Lily that much anymore. Which was great. Regulus would go back to his dorm and spy on Snape and Lily sometimes if she was there and he always found out something but he kept a bit to himself because it was really bad.
He didn’t have the heart to tell James any of it because he knows he would crumble into pieces.
But if it were any of his other friends he would tell him but it being James and knowing he’s been trying to get Lily to date him since second year is mad and she only agreed because she was annoyed of James like highly annoyed by him so she accepted just to get him off her back but he always clung to her and Regulus kinda figured he had some sort of separation anxiety but he didn’t know.
Regulus was trying to get James to come out with the rest of their friend group and he made sure Barty and Evan promise they wouldn’t be all over each other, including Sirius and Remus. And he eventually gave in.
James got ready but he put on a big sweater which he was guessing was Remus’ because it looked like one of his which he was sure he probably borrowed it.
With the big sweater he put on jeans and his red converse.
Everyone made sure James was ok before they left and once he said he was they left and headed to the black lake, everyone’s favorite spot, under the tree.
Regulus and James were sitting next to each other talking and laughing a bit with the others of course.
James was becoming talkative again and it made Regulus secretly happy.
‘He’s so pretty’ Regulus thought. ‘Wait- what am I thinking, no bad Reggie’ Regulus thought again.
“Hey Regulus..? I have a question” James asked as he turned to Regulus. “Yeah what is it?” Asked Reggie. “Do you have a umm.. a crush..?” James said. “U-umm what? Uhh I mean yes and no at the same time and also I’m not telling” Regulus replied.
“Ok then” James replied as he continued to look out at the black lake.
And from that moment on James was happy he and his friends were together…
