Chapter 9

Hermione Granger was gonna be the death of him.

"What happened?”

Granger sat up from the transfigured couch he’d made from a desk. She’d been out for almost an hour. Draco had considered waking her up but he didn’t wanna trigger another episode of whatever had just happened.

She holds her head on her hand while using the other to steady herself on the plush couch. Draco had been pleasantly surprised with his transfiguration. He’d even made it a crimson red for her.

“You went psycho witch on me Granger.”

Granger pauses and looks up at him.

“Psycho witch? That’s impossible, my wand is broken and vampires aren’t able to do magic.”

Draco huffs and pinches the bridge of his nose.

“Need I remind you of my ancestor who fell inlove with a vampire witch? A Heretic?”

The information comes back to her slowly and she nods.

“Yes I remember. But that’s a specific bloodline with specific powers. I’m a Muggleborn witch. Besides, it’s not everyday you hear that a witch was TURNED into a vampire! All the books I’ve read only said that vampires were born from vampire parents. Not that you had to die in order to become a vampire!”

Her tone is brimming with frustration. Draco just continues to watch from the desk he’d previously sat her on.

During her time asleep, he’d been able to think. Yes, she was Muggleborn. But every Muggleborn witch had some sort of magical lineage in their family. Which gave the possibility that maybe she was more closely connected to a magical ancestor than she thought she was. If she was able to become a vampire and still hold onto her magic, there was a huge chance she was related to these Heretics his ancestor had wrote about. She could come from a magical lineage after all.

“Share.”

Grangers voice pops him out of his thoughts. A single brow is raised and her arms are crossed over her chest. It was almost disgustingly cute how she was trying to be tough. But it wasn’t cute. Neither was she.

“Share?”

She nods.

“I can see you scheming. Whatever it is; spill.”

His nose wrinkled at her words. Spill? He just decided to assume it was a Muggle way to say “please tell me information”.

Draco digs into his robes once again to find the big black book. He hadn’t had time to go back to the dorms and stuff the book away yet. He places it on the desk behind him and flips through the pages once again. He allows his magic to flip for him and lead him to whatever he needed to see. He lands on the page behind the necklace enchantment spell. The letters were still faded but he could read the scribbled French well enough.

Draco’s eyes only grown wider and wider as he reads the faded letter. He could feel Grangers piercing stare at him but he’s too shocked to ignore it.

It was right there. It was pure and direct evidence to support his theory.

“What?”

Granger stands from the couch, stomping over to him. She peers at the text herself and attempts to read it with no avail. She rolls her eye and whispers.

“Damn Blacks and their obsession with being French.”

Draco would’ve broken a smile if he wasn’t so shocked at the revelation. He’s snapped out of his daze by a pinch on his shoulder.

“Ouch! What was that for?!”

Her hands on are her hips and she gives him a curt shrug.

“I told you. I wanna know what you’re seeing that I’m not.”

She continues to stare at him with her attitude hip as he angles the book in her direction.

“On the back of the spell is a letter. It’s an unnamed person saying that they want to help some women named Greta who was apart of this Gemini Coven. Apparently Greta is running away from said coven and a women named Valerie helped her by removing the magic from her baby and any other person in her future bloodline for the next few centuries? I’m not sure exactly how long but he person did say that the magic could come back at anytime, to any ancestor from that line.”

Grangers stare is less focused now. Her brows are furrowed as she’s taking in all the information. Draco watches as she runs a hand through her knotted hair and the same thought from earlier returns.

“Okay. But, why the shocked face?”

Draco almost rolls over at how stupid she was being. The brightest witch of her age and she still couldn’t put it together?!

Draco sucks his teeth momentarily before speaking again.

“You said you’re a Muggleborn witch, no?”

She nods.

“And you happen to be able to keep your magic after you’ve died, just like the Heretics.”

Granger doesn’t nod again.

“I’m…I’m just not sure. Maybe it was your magic instead of mine?”

Dracos head almost explodes at her pure and absolute ignorance.

“Granger, you made the room shake and slammed me up against the wall while simultaneously sliding me higher and higher. I don’t think that was my magic.”

Grangers eyes thin as the thinks about it. She hesitates before holding out her hand and whispering faintly.

Nox.”

The room suddenly goes dark as the light from all around travels into the palm of Grangers hand. A shocked laughter comes from the dark and Draco can’t fight the smile on his face from her laugh.

Lumos.”

The light comes back again but doesn’t travel back to its original owner just yet. Draco is greeted by the bright eyes of Hermione Granger as a ball of light appears in her hand. Her eyes are staring at the ball of light and giggling in glee as it spins around. But Draco finds himself staring at her instead. The curve of her lips and the light in her eyes were a marvel to see.

His smile dropped the second she let go of the light. The pieces spread themselves across the room, filling up the dark space once again.

“I…I still have my magic!”

She giggles once again before taking a look at Dracos face. Her smile drops and Draco almost winces. He hadn’t meant to make her feel bad about being happy. He just didn’t want her thinking he cared that much.

“Exactly. You still have your magic, which brings me back to my theory.”

Draco leans over the desk once again and she joins him in his observation.

“I think that it’s possible….”

Decals eyes stay glued to the letter. The word Parkinson stood out to him. He had so many thoughts. But those could be resolved later.

“Do you ever finish your sentences? Or do you like torturing me?”

Draco almost scoffs at her words but focuses on what he’s trying to say. He looks away from the paper, looking into Grangers eyes. He didn’t realize how close she was. He fights the dry mouth and finishes his thought.

“I think it’s possible that your not really a Muggleborn witch.”

Grangers face drops.

“I think you’re apart of the Gemini Coven.”
