so this is entirely my 30-minute brain baby that I decided to post before i could chicken out. if it's terrible pls feel free to tell me! i understand that the necessity of a prologue to set the plot is a TERRIBLE writing practice, but I honestly don't know what to do!

Tyrrendor is now a free province, ruled by Duke Xaden Riorson after a successful rebellion. Violet has made it through three years at Basgiath and is an active rider bonded to both Tairn and Andarna. Her relationship with Halden never ended. (I wonder why....) Xaden and Vi have a decent relationship loaded with eye-fucking and unspoken attraction, but neither of them has acted on it—due to Violet’s commitment to Halden and Xaden's to Cat. We start off with Vi discovering that pretty words and face don't always mean pretty actions.
