James has been gone for a week.
It was a Saturday when he got up and left but if he didn't then he would lose his chance. He feels terrible, today was his and regulus date night. Honestly, the only thing keeping him going was the thought that this would all work out.
He was in Paris, France, and had been going from meeting to meeting all week trying to rent out the Louvre for a day and damn was it costing him a pretty penny, but it would be worth it. Regulus had been wanting to come here since he was five, but his parents never let him.
So, James decided he was going to make that wish comes true for their fifth anniversary. While James was in France, he also took the time to buy Regulus an engagement ring. That led to him being in France for another three days. Regulus was going to kill him.
But again, it would be worth it.
James picked out two rings. One for regulus to wear everywhere and the one he was going to propose with which would be kept in a glass case knowing regulus. The ring he was going to propose with was a crown jewel the regent diamond.
James stole the jewel from the museum with the help of Remus and Lily the only two who knew about his plan, and they also helped replace it with a fake. This only took a day but turning the jewel into a ring is what took the extra two days.
When James finally returned home, he immediately went to Barty and Evan. He now needed the crazy couple's help. He told the psycho lovers of his grand plan and for about five minutes they were on the floor laughing until they realized, he was serious.
"You want us to help you kidnap all of our friends so you can propose to Regulus in a French museum?" Evan said in disbelief.
"Yes, well actually all of our friends except Lily and Remus they already know and will be helping me set up everything back in France but yeah."
"Well, shit let's go kidnap our favorite bitches. Our little Reggie is getting married!" Barty exclaimed pulling a still shocked Evan.
"I need everyone at the Cheval Blanc Paris Hotel tomorrow at 3 pm!" James screamed after them then apparated out of the house and back to France where he went to sleep knowing he had a busy day tomorrow.
James woke up the next day at 7 am sharp and immediately got ready. He went down to the main floor of the hotel everyone would soon be in. He spotted Lily and Remus with a cup of coffee waiting for him.
“Thank Merlin you guys are here I need help picking out outfits for Regulus and I at the museum and then outfits for everyone for the after party." James said taking the cup of coffee with a grateful smile.
“Okay first off calm down James your hands are sweating, and your face is red. Now here's the plan remus and I will go buy the outfits. you go and make sure the museum and venue for the party are ready and all that transportation stuff is prepared." Lily said in a gentle tone softly rubbing his arm.
"We will be back at the hotel at around 3:30. if everything goes to plan pick Regulus up at 4:30 so he has time to get dressed and we can explain why he's been kidnap to France without ruining the surprise." Lily continued. She paused for a second then continued, "Also, I'll make a detour and drop your clothes off for the museum."
"Okay, Regulus and I will probably be done in the museum at around 10 pm you guys be ready at 11 then I'll pick you up and take you to the venue."
Wonderful. I’ll see you at 4:30 James." Lily said a huge smile on her freckled face. James was delighted to have such good friends he gave them his black card then turned and walked out of the building. He then made his way to his first stop which was the museum. Meanwhile Remus and Lily went from shop to shop finding the best outfits for their friends.
At 3:40 Barty and Evan showed up at the hotel unconscious friends behind them. They were pretty sure Sirius was stepped on once or twice, but they didn't really care seeing as he would have woken up if something broke. They saw Lily and Remus and went up to them. They were then guided to the top floor. Evan eventually took off the invisibility charm and woke everyone up. At first, there was a lot of screaming and threatening. Then Remus told everyone to shut the fuck up and listen as he explained how they were in Paris for a little trip planned by James and that he would be here soon, so Regulus needed to get dressed in the outfit picked out for him before he got here. Regulus got up mumbling about how he was going to murder James and then went to the bathroom to get dressed.
When he got out Lily immediately started to style his hair while asking her girlfriend Mary to grab regulus jewelry that she brought. She then put on all the ones that matched the chosen outfit making sure to leave his ring finger clear. She gave him his shoes and told him to stand and then to turn. Regulus did so.
"Something is missing," Lily said biting her lip in concentration. Remus obviously thought the same as he then went over to the bag of jewelry and pulled out an emerald necklace from it. Lily and Remus had the same thought.
“It's perfect.” They said in unison then handed it to Regulus. He put it on then there was a knock on the door.
"It's time," Lily said smiling. Regulus took a deep breath then walked and answered the door.
Instead of James, there was an old man there.
"Regulus black?" the man questioned.
"Yes."
"Wonderful. Mister Potter is waiting for you in the car. If you will follow me." The man said then turned around and started to walk to the elevator. Regulus quickly followed. This may have been cute and all, but he was still mad at James for leaving him for a week and a half. When they made it to the car, the man opened the door and Regulus slid in the door closing behind him. Regulus then turned to look at James with a scowl on his face.
Before he could get any of his insulting done James was already kissing him. Regulus felt his anger washing away the longer they kissed.
"Hello, love. Before you start insulting me, I want to say I'm sorry. I wanted to get this surprise together as quickly as possible and the day for the meetings sadly ended up being on our date night. I hope that this will make up for it. In James' hand was a box of his favorite chocolate Bonnat Madagascar criollo.
"Okay your forgiven but just this once ever do something like this again and I'm going to murder you in your sleep." Regulus said with a sickly-sweet smile before indulging in his chocolates making sure not to get any on his clothes. James just nodded while staring at Regulus.“I'm so in love with him.” James thought to himself.
When Regulus stepped out of the car he was in shock, he wasn't thinking too much on where he was going but the museum he wanted to see since five was not it. He turned to James with a huge smile on his face and pulled him into a kiss. Something he would be doing all night. Regulus smiled then pulled James into the museum. Once they were inside regulus looked confused there was no one there. James then took the lead and pulled Regulus into the main part of the museum to where the map was. "Where to first love?" James asked.
"What- James there's no one here I don't think we can be here." Regulus said highly confused.
James sighed then explained "Little king I rented the place out for us. Now you won't have to be squished or wait in any line. So where to first?"
Regulus stared at James in disbelief for a good five seconds before pulling him into another kiss.
He then pulled away and eagerly turned to the map pointing to the art section. "There, I want to go there first." Regulus said you could practically hear the smile in his voice.
James and Regulus explored each part of the museum Regulus gushing facts that he read about. He knew something about almost everything until they made it to where the crown jewels were. Regulus stared at them in awe.
“Which one do you like the most?" James asked behind Regulus.
"The regent diamond, it's absolutely gorgeous."
James made a sigh of relief in his head he was hoping it was that one or this would be a bit awkward.
James backed off Regulus a bit then got on one knee pulling the ring box from his pocket.
“The moment I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you was when you busted through my door at the potter manor. Tears tracking down your face. You had run away and the first person you came to was me. You climbed in my bed and told me to hold you and that's just what I did. Then I realized that that's all I ever want to do. For the rest of my life all want to do is hold you while you're happy while you're sad, angry, or just downright depressed I just want to hold you in my arms. So, Regulus Arcturus Black will you let me hold you now and forever? Will you marry me?" James asked eyes wet with tears. Regulus was in the same state. He cried even more when he looked at the ring. it was everything he had dreamed of but thought he would never get.
"Fuck yes of course I will marry you." Regulus said his voice raspy from the crying and just gay disbelief.
James stood up and slid the ring on his finger. He then picked Regulus up and kissed him with everything he had.
Regulus responded by kissing just as hard.
"I love you, little king." James whispered against his lips.
"I love you Mon soleil." Regulus whispered back.
When the newly engaged couple went back to the hotel everyone was already dressed and waiting for them confusion on most of their faces.
"So, anybody going to tell us what the hell is going on?" Dorcas said eyebrow raised.
Regulus ignored her in favor of asking his own question. "Pandora will you be my maid of honor?" he asked showing his new engagement ring with a huge smile on his face.
Silence came from the room for a minute. Then Pandora ran and hugged Regulus "Of course I’ll be your maid of honor!"
James then turned to Sirius. "Padfoot?" he asked with a smirk.
"Please prongs you already know the answer... omg we're going to be brothers fuck yeah. And Reg is about to be a Potter take that whale bitch!!!" Sirius said giving James and Regulus a hug then giving Regulus a fist bump.
They were then congratulated by everyone else.
Everyone then waited for Regulus and James to change and they went to a rented-out restaurant and then to a bar which they got kicked out of because Barty and Evan got caught having sex in the owner's office.
