Betrayal

“I’m afraid I can no longer be friends with you all,” Remus said, ominously.

“Why would you say that?” Peter asked.

James wrinkled his nose, “Don’t be silly, mate.”

Remus looked away dramatically, his curly copper hair glimmering in the sunlight of the outside world as the Hogwarts Express sped past a field of cows, “Summer’s changed me.” he said, “There’s so much you don’t know about me.”

“Like what?” Sirius asked, just as dramatically as Remus, “Ah! You’re an ax murderer, aren’t you?”

With bated breaths, James, Peter, and Sirius watched as Remus shook his head, “Worse…”

“What could be worse than an ax murderer?” James asked.

Remus turned away, “I’m a prefect.”

The effect was immediate. James and Sirius gasped loudly and held each other as they sobbed dramatically. Peter wiped fake tears from his eyes, “How could you betray us like this, Remus?”

The car was chaotic between the betrayal and the sobbing.

“I’m sorry, boys,” Remus said tenderly, “But prefects get their own bathroom. And you three are rancid.”

“Betrayed by my own odor.” Sirius sniffled.

Remus grinned, “Goodbye, my brethren,” he stood up and swung the compartment door open, “Unless…”

“Unless what, Moony?” James asked.

Remus smirked, “Well, I heard…”

“You heard what?” Peter leaned forward, using Sirius’ shoulder as leverage.

“I heard that a certain someone became a Slytherin prefect.” Remus said mischievously.

Sirius laughed, “A certain someone we have fun with?” he asked.
