Apartment

I stepped into my apartment once again, for what seemed like the millionth time that day, the smell of dust filling my nose. I plopped my last box onto the floor next to the door, glancing around the hallway that I now owned. I sighed, leaning against the wall and letting myself slip down to the floor. Who knew moving was so fucking hard and tiring? There was so much I had left to do, so much stuff that had to go in its place. Hell, I didn't even have a mattress frame yet so I'd be sleeping on the floor. Of course, all my furniture was arriving late so my apartment was going to be empty for the next week or so minus the boxes that littered the place. And even after it did arrive, there was no saying how long it was going to take for me to gather the time and motivation to build it all. But at least I was here. At least I had managed to get out. I closed my eyes, suppressing a yawn. The cold wood floor dug into my bare shins while I leaned my head against the wall. I had stuff to do. I shouldn’t be sitting here on the floor, doing nothing. I pulled myself to my feet, opening my eyes again. That was good, it only required a little motivation but still, it was good start. I glanced around the hallway again, shaking my head at all the shit everywhere. Not only were my boxes everywhere but dust covered the corners and half of the floor. I really needed to clean up this place. I'd get there. I kept reminding myself that I had managed to get here and that was the important thing. Everything i did after was just an extra step to happiness. I decided to ignore the dust and the boxes for now and stepped forward, going to explore my apartment again. I'd been here before and looked around and it wasn’t that crazy of an apartment. Just a normal, small sized apartment, just enough for one person. There was the hallway that led to an open living room and a small kitchenette that i doubt i would ever end up using to much. I turned into the living room, which at the moment was just an empty room. There were wood floors and the dust that seemed to be everywhere was I took the door on the right, leading into the bedroom. My bedroom. Of course, like the living room, there was nothing really in there. My mattress was in the middle of the floor and a couple boxes were scattered around but all in all, it wasn’t much. I glanced out the window and saw that the sun was starting to set. The view was of tall buildings and the bustling traffic wasn’t anything like back home but it was fine. I was perfectly fine with things here not being like back home. It actually made me happy that things weren’t like back home. Well, I wouldn't consider it home anymore. This was home now. I took my phone out of my back pocket, checking on the time. 7:48pm I should probably go eat something considering the long day that i had, driving here and moving boxes into the apartment, plus the fact that i hadn’t eaten since before noon. It was a part of my ADHD, not remembering to eat. I got so distracted with whatever it was that i was doing that my brain would forget about necessities like eating and drinking. So I slipped my phone into my back pocket again, checking that my wallet and keys were still on me. I smiled as i felt my new key, the one that led to this very apartment. Once I found that both those things were in fact there, I turned back towards the door and walked out of my bedroom, heading towards the front door of my apartment. Time for my first meal in this new city.
