BOY'S TALK

6. Boy's Talk

Sirius's brows had met near the bridge of his nose as he looked past the crowd of students near the edge of the Slytherin table. There sat a very out of place man clad in red and gold. But Julian Wood was too occupied to notice the glares of the snakes in the table, nor did he notice another glare from another man from the same house as he is. He sat beside Cassiopeia, with her talking about some things Sirius could not hear from the buzzing noise of the crowd.

James turned to their friends, and Remus and Peter had also turned their heads to look at each other after looking at Sirius. James nodded towards Remus, and he sighed. Seems like he was in charge of trying to pull back Sirius, and have to endure the coming jealousy in disguised complaints.

"You won't be able to kill him with that glare, Pads. Stop it, and eat." Remus said, piercing a slab of meat and placing it in his mouth. Sirius scoffs, and finally, the fork that was lazily held in his hand had started to scoop up some of the mashed potatoes. "I have no clue what you're talking about." Sirius mumbled, shoving food in his mouth. Remus, James, and Peter smile slyly, stifling laughter, knowing well enough it will make Sirius riled up about it.

As they continued to eat, Sirius remained quiet, and his friends continued to observe his silence. He looked lost, distracted and distant, even his chewing seemed like it was unnatural, like he was programmed to chew a certain way.

Sirius was not sure of his sudden loss of appetite. He continued to eat, not wanting to let them notice that he had truly no intention of eating. He was not an idiot, he knew what was bothering him, he knew that that kiss had been bothering him for the days that had passed. Why? He'd like to believe it was because he wanted to prove that Cassiopeia was wrong about what she said about him as a bad kisser. He was caught off guard, of course he would not respond as well as he really is. Sirius is very confident with his kissing skills, he knew how to make a woman want more, he knew exactly where to touch and where to kiss, and HOW to kiss. Of course, that's it. He did not like that Cassiopeia took the lead for that kiss, admittedly, making him lose control of the situation. That is exactly what was bothering him.

"You do know Wood's still winning when all you do is sulk while he's actually talking to Segin right?" Sirius raised his head and found that Remus had a brow up. "Whatever do you mean?" Sirius sighed, giving up on the food in his plate, letting go of his utensils. "Clearly, you're bothered by how close they are with each other." Remus sighed back, and Sirius saw how Peter and James nodded, though their focus was on their food. Sirius chuckled, "Clearly, you're wrong." He starts, giving a smile towards the Ravenclaw ladies that walked past Remus's back, waving at him. "Be it it's all about your game and you're losing, or I suppose you've actually grown to like her—" Sirius's eyes went wide, and he had a bemused smile as he backed away, his shoulder tensed. "Like her? Absolutely not! I don't like anyone. I like that they like me." He shrugged, relaxing once more. "Fine, I suppose it rattled me that she seems not to like the Sirius Black, but I doubt she doesn't." The three of them stayed quiet for a while, silently communicating who among them was going to ask the question Sirius wanted to hear. Again, James nodded at Remus and rolled his eyes, lazily asking, "What the fuck are you talking about?" He said, letting go of his own fork too, resting his cheek on his palm. "She's pretty, she knows it." Sirius started, and Remus actually had a slight interest in what Sirius was about to say, since it seems he knew his position as an option to her. "She can get whoever she wants. Just like me. So, she has all the resources she needs…" Remus smiled sarcastically, his patience thinning with Sirius's play with words. .

"And well, I have all the proof that she's only trying to get me jealous." James, Remus, and Peter were dumbfounded, having no clue where and what Sirius had just said. "That made absolutely no sense." It was James who muttered this, laughing softly. Sirius mimicked his laugh, "Sure, if you hadn't asked what the proof is." He shrugged again, grinning. "Just say it mate." Peter waved his fork, but was grinning lazily, clearly enjoying whatever this was.

Sirius looked at the tired look of his friends, but he maintained his grin. "She kissed me." He said, like it was an expected thing. There was silence for a while, and then Remus raised a brow again, "On what circumstances?" Sirius turned to him and he shrugged defensively, "Circumstances that she likes me, what else?"

"What else is that you are the one following her around: Looking for her when she gave you her name: Had your eyes on her for a year…that's what else." Remus cleared, and Sirius had to take time to answer. He had purposely left out parts of the kiss and how it led to it, it wasn't important. But Remus, as he always did with this type of thing, doubted him. He sighed, "That's a part of my plan, mate! Like I said, make her think I'm wrapped around her fingers. Now look at that, it worked, and she kissed me." Remus gave him one last long look, before chuckling, shaking his head. "Fine, Sirius. You win." He said, and Sirius shrugged proudly, smiling widely. James and Peter were chuckling too, the last of their food, gone.

"She kissed you, but you're not the one sitting beside her right now." James teased, looking back at Cassiopeia and Julian, Julian whispering sweet nothings to her, making her laugh. They all turned to look at them, and James, Remus, and Peter stifled their laughter again. "That does remind me of a certain guy." Peter suddenly said, pointing at Cassiopeia and Julian. All of them turned to him, waiting for him to continue, he grinned so wide that James, Remus, and Sirius knew exactly what he was about to say, and Sirius groaned.

"Sirius and all his girlfriends."

Peter, James, and Remus broke out into loud laughter, as Sirius kept his cheek resting in his palm, knowing well enough that punching or any kind of physical pain will not stop his friends, he's tried many times years prior.

"You're all just jealous I get the girls." Sirius rebutted, and they laughed again. They loved it when Sirius got sulky. "Not her though." James said, pursing his lips and closing his eyes, mimicking an incoming kiss. Again, all three of them broke into a louder laugh, making Sirius's ears go red.

He turned around, noticing that their voices had become louder, and found that his eyes darted and landed locked into Cassiopeia's brown hazels. He felt shivers down his spine, the lingering warmth from her tracing his collarbone heating up, so he looked away so quickly, and hit his friend's heads, hissing at them to shut up.

Whatever made him look away so suddenly, with that awkward feeling, he decided not to even question.
