this is just a little drabble i posted in my discord server today, and im trying to get more comfortable writing and using this platform and have zero clue where to start. so i may expand on this, and i may not but i think it’s pretty soft.-kaz

when remus hands him the small box sirius tries to fight off the look of confusion threatening to cross his face.

“what… what is this?”

it’s a small, unassuming thing, wrapped in parchment with a twill ribbon tangled on top. remus lifts a hand to rub at the back of his own neck.

of course. this can’t be like the gifts he’s used to. the wrapping is probably so much better. his family probably wraps gifts with silk ribbons, this was so stupid, stupid, stupid.

“it’s nothing really, i just. i dunno, i just wanted to get you something.”

sirius hasn’t met his eyes yet, still staring down at the box in his hands.

stupid, stupid, stupid.

“i know it’s probably not as nice as you’re use-“

“ive never gotten one before.”

remus is interrupted by the quiet sentence. almost like sirius didn’t want to be heard.

“a box wrapped in crinkled parchment?” remus asks, with a slight chuckle. trying to ease the tension, he didn’t know how to handle the sad eyes when they looked back up at him.

“no,” he responded softly, “a birthday gift.”

oh.
