Merlin! Is Sirius dramatic or what!?!

Remus

With the whole girlfriend situation.” Marlene said.

“Lupin, you absolute…

Lily had been sad before, depressingly sad. And Marlene had meant well and at first it was fine, her words were softer and gentler then Remus’ would have been. But then everything went down hill. Lily was no longer sad. She was down right furious.

And all of that fury was directed at him.

“… I can’t believe you would cheat on Marlene. I can’t believe I was ever friends with you. That I trusted you. You disgust me!”

“Lily,” Marlene says, rushing to stop the confusion her words had brought, “Remus did nothing wrong.”

“Marlene stop defending him, he cheated on you. He had another girlfriend. He was snogging her face off with the same lips he used to kiss you.”

Marlene rolls her eyes, “actually Remus has never kissed me.”

Remus chokes back a laugh at her straight forward bluntness. And at the expression currently controlling Lily’s face, her eyes wide and rapidly blinking in befuddlement.

There is one long pause of confusion, before James breaks the silence, “Remus, it’s the seventies not the 1800s, there is no need to uphold the courting rules of the Victorian era.”

Marlene snorts, “okay, everyone, Lily, James, chill out and listen.”

Lily nods slowly, “you better explain this.” She says glaring at Remus.

Marlene catches the glare and sighs, “look Lily, believe me, Remus has done nothing wrong. We were never dating in the first place.”

“Wait what.” Sirius outbursts.

“Quiet,” Marlene snaps, “we were never dating, and the girlfriend I mentioned is not Remus’ she’s mine. I'm the one with a girlfriend. I’m dating Dorcas Meadowes. And have been  for the past two years.”

And because Lily and the others were staring at them dumbly Remus added, “we’re gay.”

“But…” Lily starts, “your the perfect couple. I set you up on your first date and you have been bonded ever since.” She says voice weak.

“Actually…” Remus says, “that first date was Merlin’s sore back, awful. And it ended with both of us coming out and deciding it would be better to fake date instead of having to go on another utterly terrifying date.”

“So you were never dating?” Peter clarified.

“Correct.” Marlene answered with a smile.

“Thank Merlin!” Peter cried out, flopping his head back on the cushions of his couch. “That time I caught Remus snogging one of the Prewet twins has been waying on me for months.”

“Wait what,” Remus spluttered.

Peter just shrugged, “I’m good at keeping secrets, and you're apparently really bad at locking doors while there is a tongue down your throat.”

Remus blushed fiercely in embarrassment.

Fortunately he was saved from responding, unfortunately it was because Sirius decided to open his mouth. “No,” he exclaimed, “you can’t be gay, you can’t.”

Remus felt an intense pain in his chest like a hand squeezing his heart.

This was why Remus had not wanted to come out as gay, it was because of reactions like this.

Sirius looked at him, face contorted in disgust, his eyes screaming denial.

Remus could have lived with James or Peter being unsupportive. Really anyone, but Sirius. Sirius was his best friend, he was always there after a full moon, he also took diligent notes when Remus missed class despite never taking them any other time.

Sirius was Remus’ best friend, and sometimes it seemed that they could be more.

But clearly Remus was wrong, because here Sirius was whispering those painful words, “no. No you can’t be gay, you can’t.”

And Sirius was gazing up at Remus begging him not to be gay. And it broke Remus’ heart.

Sirius

No.

The thought was screaming through Sirius’s head.

Just no.

And sure, Sirius should probably keep his mouth shut and bury all these emotions deep inside so he can cry them out later into his pillow under the protection of a strong silencing charm, while he is alone in his bed in the middle of the night.

But Sirius has not always been the smartest of fellows.

And besides he has just been through an emotional roller coaster. One with loops and spins, leaving him wanting to heave his guts out into the toilet.

First he thinks Remus and Marlene are going to announce their engaged or something.

Then he learns they broke up, and Lily starts freaking the flip out.

And now this? Remus being gay?

It was too much, especially when you add that to the fact that Sirius is currently wasted, after having downed many cups of firewhisky to avoid this exact problem of his emotions.

So yeah, it’s stupid of him, crazy idiotic, but Sirius Black opens his mouth and speaks. “no. No you can’t be gay, you can’t.”

Sirius doesn’t notice Remus’s heart wrenching expression. Nor all their other friends affronted looks.

The words just continue to spill out urges on by the firewhisky.

“You can’t be gay. And you can’t be snogging one of the Prewetts or any lad for that matter..”

“Sirius, mate,” James interjected harshly on Remus’ behalf.

“No!” Sirius practically screamed in a half wrangled cry, “you don’t understand James. Remus can’t be gay he just can’t. I can’t have spent the last three fucking years helplessly in love, and pining. Push down all and any jealousy over you being with Marlene. I just can’t have, just for him to turn around and be gay.”

Remus let out a soft gasp, his hand coming to rest up to his face, as his eyes widened.

Everyone else, sat in hushed silence, jaws hung open and hanging on to every pain filled word Sirius uttered.

“I just…” he heaved a sob, sinking down to his knees. “We’re best friends rem, we maradars tell each other everything. I thought you and I told each other everything. And I don’t understand why you didn’t tell me. Why you were off kissing a Prewett brother. Why couldn't it have been me. Just why, moony. I can understand you not wanting to be with me that way, but you're still one of my closest friends.” Sirius looked up desperately into Remus’ eyes, “why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because I love you too, you dolt.”

“What?” Sirius breaths out, his brain feeling like a mess of puzzle pieces scattered across the floor.

“I love you,” Remus repeats, “I didn’t tell you because I was scared, I loved you and I didn’t know how our relationship would change. And when you said no. When you tried to deny me being gay. It broke my heart. It was all my worst fears come to life. And then you… you said you loved me…” by now Remus too has fallen to the floor, cradling Sirius’ face in his hands, tears in his eyes, as he whispers his confessions.

Sirius looks deep into Remus’ eyes, his words sinking deep into his mind.

His moony loves him too!

And then their faces are crashing together, lips locking.

The party is over after that, everyone else scattering, In shocked silence, the stampede of secrets spilled flooding their thoughts.

And the last thought Sirius thinks as Remus pulls him up the stairs to their dorm, lips still pressed against his, is that he’s not going to have to cry himself to sleep tonight. (Though he will probably still need that silencing charm)

Marlene

After the shit show with Sirius and Remus, everyone made their way up to bed.

Marlene didn’t though. Instead she snuck out into the dark corridors of Hogwarts.

After getting lost on many staircases (goodness was it hard to see where they were moving to in the dark), getting yelled at by multiple paintings, and having to hide from Mrs. Norris. Marlene finally arrived at the abandoned classroom near the dungeons.

Dorcas was sitting in one of the empty seats near the back. Marlene strides over plowing down in the seat directly next to it. She interlaced her fingers with Dorcas’ and smiled brightly at her girlfriend.

Dorcas smiled in response pushing her chair closer, “I take it went well then, breaking up with Remus and telling your friends?”

Marlene smiled and gave a slight shrug, “more or less.”

Dorcas raised an eyebrow.

Marlene sighed, “Merlin, is Sirius dramatic.”
