I took her to the supermarket
The colored bright lights hit Remus almost blinding him as the crowd cheered back in response, he'd been to three counties so far on his tour but Athens, so far, had the most people.
''So uhm, wow there are loads of you tonight!'' the crowd cheered in response again, ''this first song is about my childhood best friend Lily, I was in a writing slump and she had the amazing idea for me to write a love song about her, of course, she's not exactly my type'' he chuckled scanning to find Lily in the crowd like she promised she would be, then he spotted at her and smiled, '' but if I did swing that way she would be my first choice'' he shot her a wink and she blew him kisses through the air after rolling her eyes for the hundredth time, and Remus began to sing,
Oh, we were born within an hour of each other,
Our parents said we could be sister and brother,
Your name was Lilian, Lili-uh it never suited ya.....
Eleven months ago
Monday
It was nine in the morning, far too early for class on a Monday, but there Remus was next to James yet again in his music theory class,
''For your next assignment, I want you to write a song'' the whole class groaned at those words, ''Yeah okay complain now, but this is worth twenty percent of your grade in this class, so by the end of the year you will have fully written and created your song, for which you grade depends on''
James turned to Remus, ''Hey you'll have no problem you have a whole notebook filled with little lyrics don't you?'', It was true, any time Remus had a strong emotion he write down a line or two, like a poem sort of, but Remus just shook his head,
''None are completed, I only write a sentence or two'' he sighed head in hands, ''besides your probably gonna use that 'Beetlebum' song you wrote to get Lily to fall in love with you'' James' pupils widened at the mention,
''Lily!'' he clapped his hands together fondly, and smiled like an old lady ''When can I see her again, Remoooo tell her to come back down!'' James continued whining like a baby for three whole minutes,
''Okay Jesus James I forgot how much of a boner you have for her'' James started tugging and her arm,
''Please Re invite her so I can play her my song!''
''Well lucky for you she's coming this weekend'' James' face lit up like a dog who sees a treat in front of him, ''hang on calm your tits, I'm gonna spend time with her on Saturday but drinks of Sunday?''
James beamed so bright like the sun it was almost blinding, ''I love you Moony!''.
Thursday
Remus and Sirius had talked a lot more within the first month of meeting, Sirius would call Remus at the most random times just for a chat. They met at the bar when Remus worked, Sirius would usually ramble on about what he learned in class, or ask Remus questions about his day-to-day life, finding out more and more about him. That Thursday Sirius showed up just as Remus's shift was ending and waited outside the bar.
''Moony'' Sirius still refused to call him Remus, '' Moony, please I need to see what it's like, I want to live like common people, I can't- please just show me how'' his voice was cracking, it was too dark to see his face but he could tell her was tearing up,
''Okay, I'll see what I can do '' was all Remus said, grabbing his hand and he swore he could see the faintest move in his mouth, his lips almost a smile,
''Okay,'' he responded and they stayed like that, holding hands in the darkness, both catching each other trying to catch a quick look to which they'd both look away awkwardly.
He took Sirius to the supermarket, no idea why, he had to start it somewhere. He calmed down on the walk down the road to the nearest Tesco.
''The supermarket?'' Sirius questioned, ''You brought me, a rich kid- I mean borderline trillionaire- a Black to the supermarket?''
''Oh heavens! Will you burst into flames?'' Remus teased shaking his head, ''Just pretend you've got no money'',
He just laughed and said ''You're so funny''
''Oh yeah?'' Remus smirked and looked around dramatically, ''I don't see anyone else smiling here.'' He paused and asked, ''Look are you sure you wanna live like common people?'' Sirius' expression changed and Remus couldn't bare to see him upset again, so he turned it into a joke, ''It's a huge step down from borderline trillionaire,''
''Funny'' Sirius smiled bitterly, picking up random things from the side of the isle without even looking at what it was, '' I wanna live like common people, I wanna do whatever they do'' He paused in the middle of the isle they were walking down and looked him right in the eye, ''I wanna sleep with a common guy or two'' he winked, leaving Remus there and walking off, it took him a minute to process what he said, guy or two, wait, guy? Remus rushed off to join Sirius, this time Sirius grabbed his hand and Remus felt his cheeks heat up.
''You alright there Moony?'' he smirked, and god, he needed to stop smirking like that or Remus was going to jump his bones right there and then. They started rushing around the supermarket, Sirius was like a child pointing and getting excited at every little thing. Their basket was overflowing to the point where Remus had to hit Sirius's hand every time he reached for something else.
''Okay, I think that's enough stuff, Sirius'' Remus said pulling his arm, ''c'mon lets go pay''
''You know what Moony, I think you're right'' he sighed letting himself be dragged towards the self-checkout. Remus would take out things from the basket and Sirius would scan the barcode, as Remus was picking out the absurd items from his basket he picked out a box of pads,
''Sirius, are you menstruating?'' he teased,
''What? No those are like shower shoes''
''No, they're for women who- are you saying you put these on your feet in the shower?''
''Well, maybe-''
''oh god, you're padded feet, your just pad footed- oh my god! Padfoot, that's what I'm calling you now'' he punched his arm playfully, ''That's what you get for calling me Moony instead of my real name.''
''But Moony's cute padfoot's just, well'' he shrugged, ''Whatever I'll take it'' He scanned the last item and turned to Remus, ''It's on you right?''
''Oh no no no, Mr Black, You want to be like common people. Common people pay''
Sirius grinned and pulled out his card.
Saturday
Remus woke up very happy because today he got to see Lily. Lily was Remus' childhood friend, they grew up together and were neighbours along with a slimy little kid- Severus, Remus never cared for him but Lily always covered for him, until he tried to kiss her a few years ago. Lily and Remus stayed close, they were friends since birth, and their mums joked about getting them married but Remus turned out gay, and Lily saw him like a brother. Unfortunately Lily had to move to the other side of England, but she tried to visit at least once a month. Last year on her visit Remus introduced her to James and he fell head over heels for her however she did not reciprocate one bit.
At ten in the morning, he heard a knock at the door and was forced out of bed to open it, as he opened the door instead of seeing his beautiful friend Lily, he saw an old man, who was balding and had some sort of yellow gunk around his mouth- not a good sight when he was expecting his cute, redhead freckled friend.
''Mr. Lupin'' His voice was deep and rough from smoking, ''I am the new apartment manager Albus, I understand that you are late with your monthly pay''
Remus rubbed his eyes, trying to hold back a groan, ''Look I tried to explain to Sluggy if you just change the date of the payment to the end of the month rather than the beginning then I'll have the money-''
Albus raised his hand to shush him, ''I will not tolerate this, pay properly or you are out'' he stormed off, just as Remus was about to turn back and slam his door, he heard a voice,
''Jesus Re sounds like you should pay the rent'' Lily he quickly turned his head and hugged her tight, ''Missed you to Loops'' Remus rolled his eyes at the name, and he released her from the hug,
''Yeah yeah missed you Evans come in, tea?''
They talked for an hour, Lily filled him in about her studies and how she got accepted into this science program. She told him about her manager friend- Marlene, and how she got to meet a cool celebrity. In return, Remus told her about James and how he was dying to see her, he also talked about Sirius a lot,
''He sounds like an arse! Why the fuck did you take him to the supermarket?'' Lily questioned,
''I don't know why but I had to start it somewhere, so it started-''
''there'' Lily said in the most disgusted tone. They both knocked their heads back laughing. Lily continued to scold him about not calling her, and he then scolded her about not calling him.
''You know I have to write a song for a class'' Remus ventured,
''well let's hear it then''
''I've got nothing, I don't know what to write''
''Silly, write about me!''
They spent the rest of the day writing what ended up becoming 'Disco 2000', it was a love song to Lily with a few inside jokes of theirs in it, Remus even created the perfect riff.
By the time they were done, it was late so Remus set up his room and unfolded the sofa bed, he offered Lily his room and crashed on the couch before she even had to chance to protest, she was all tucked in bed he kissed her temple and said goodnight and quickly informed her about meeting James the next day when she was too tired to say no.
The next day James made an absolute fool of himself by getting drunk and singing his song for Lily on the countertops of the bar. Usually Lily would scold him and then Remus for having such stupid friends, but this time she stayed quiet and Remus swore he saw Lily Evans blush ever so slightly
