Run. That's all you could think.
Just keep running.
The cold rain plowed into you, but the heavy footfall behind you told you to keep running.
Just keep running.
You turn down an alleyway, only to find its a dead end.
Shit!
"Come on," he calls your name sharply. "Don't be stupid now. Just come with us."
You end up backing yourself into the wall desperate to get away from them.
"Don't you want to know what you are?"
In hindsight maybe you should have went with them. At least then you would have saved yourself all this trouble in the restricted section of the library.
It's defiantly late at night, however you're not exactly how late.
You skipped dinner in hopes you'd find something, you never had much of an appetite anyway.
But still, nothing.
You don't need a wand to access your powers, so half of this is useless. However, you're not entirely sure how you got them in the first place.
The last thing you remember before those men attacked you was receiving an odd package in the mail.
"Professor, this package came for you."
you look up in confusion.
"That's odd, I didn't order anything for the class. At least I don't think so," you say stepping around your desk to the mail boy.
"You are Professor Rosu, Correct?" he asks.
"Yes that's me."
"Here you go then," he hands you a small box.
"Well, thank you then." he nods and leaves your office with a smile.
How odd.
You look down at the very small box wrapped in brown paper. You seriously didn't order anything at all. What could this possibly be? You rip the paper off slowly and reveal a small jewelry box, when you pop open the lid there's a pebble sized yellow gem around a chain.
What feels like out of nowhere your head starts to pound and the box slips from your hands and drops to the ground.
That same headache is like the ones you've had recently. That's the very first one you ever had. You got dizzy and collapsed to the ground. One of your students found you and you were send to a doctor. At least that's what they told you when you woke up. When you were released to go home, those men started to chase you and then-
"Get away from me!"
But they didn't back away.
You were scared.
Then one lunged at you and instinctively you raised your hand and closed your eyes. The only thing you saw was a flash of red and heard a loud crash.
when you looked up both of the men where thrown across the street and through a store window. But the glow in your hand remained, and you watched it till it faded.
Then you ran again.
There where people outside your house. So you just ran. You had enough money saved to keep yourself moving, but by then Dumbledore found you.
Now you're here in a library with nothing else to go on but that.
You wonder if it has something to do with that stone. There must be something about magical stones in this library. But you don't know enough about this world to know what book to look for. Maybe Albus knows? Maybe you should take his advice and tell someone else...
No. No, absolutely not.
You slam the book in your hands shut, as it's not useful to you.
Then your head starts to pound again. Instead of getting aggravated you try to...tame it? maybe get it to pass if you focus on controlling it.
Maybe it can help you. You can use your powers to go into peoples' minds, could you use it to find a book? It's worth a shot you suppose. What do you have to lose anymore?
You bring your hand to the shelves of books and one by one you hover your hand over the spines. Trying to get inside them to feel what they say. But it doesn't work for all of them. Some seem to have a mind of their own, like they're speaking to you. You can hear their whispers in the back of your mind.
Yet, you can't find anything about magical stones that give muggles magic.
You sigh and put your hand back to your side, maybe you're just too tired to figure this out. Maybe there isn't an answer.
Or maybe it's just not here, despite this being a "small world," it's really really not. Maybe the answer is somewhere, but you clearly won't find it tonight. So you take your leave and walk to the exit of the library.
But you stop when you hear something whispering. It's softly calling your name. But it leads you further into the restricted section of the library.
It get's louder and louder, then it's to your right. About halfway down the isle. It's locked in a glass case, it looks old. There's an interesting cover, a weird symbol. But the book looks like it's been set on fire, and made of wood. The pages look burned on the edges. The whole thing looks jagged. When you place your hand on the glass, the voices stop.
All you can hear is your own breathing.
"What do you think you're doing here this late in the night," his voice snaps you out of the trance that voice but you in.
"Professor Snape," you look back to the book, but it just seems like an abnormal normal book. When you look back to him his eyebrow is raised, clearly still waiting for an answer.
You feel frozen, you have no clue what came over you.
"Nothing. I wasn't doing anything," he looks unconvinced. "Just exploring I guess." You fold your hands Infront of you.
"Exploring might be better for you to do on your own time," he says.
"I believe this is my own time, professor," you say.
"You're supposed to attend dinner-"
"I wasn't hungry," you interrupt him.
"Nevertheless, why would you're exploring bring you here. To that." He really does like his dramatic pauses. But his eyes flicker to the book in it's case.
"I don't even know what it is," you shrug. "I don't really care, honestly," he glares at you, but says nothing.
"Goodnight professor," you brush past him and head back to your room.
