Summer before 7th year - Zinnia's POV
A loud crack and sudden knock was at Zinnia’s door. She ran to swing it open.
“Hi!” She exclaimed and threw her arms around her boyfriend George. He was spending a lot of time in London with family and was able to use magic to visit her often. “Come in, we have time before my mom gets home.” She pulled him back to her bedroom and locked the door.
“Hi,” He smiled up at her as he sat on her bed. She stood in front of him and put her hands on his shoulders. She studied his face and took him all in, his skin was more tan then normal, his nose covered in freckles. They spent a lot of time out on walks or sharing a picnic in the park. Soaking in the sun. She was much more tan too, her hair was bleached even lighter than normal and her hair smelled like sea salt. She was gone with her mom in the south of France for a week to get away. Her mom was so depressed about Igor, she spent the entire vacation wasted on champagne or passed out on sleeping potions in their hotel room. Zinnia spent the week on the beach, reading over everything she had journaled from the school year. Trying to make sense of the dark lord’s return.
She decided she had studied George enough and dropped to her knees in front of him, undoing his belt buckle.
“Fuck Z, I missed you.” He said, while excitedly removing his pants to reveal his rock hard cock.
“I missed you, and you.” She looked from him to his dick in her hands. She stoked it up and down, looking back into his eyes. “Did you not miss me on your cock?” She blinked and he put his hands in her hair, guiding her so that she took him into her mouth.
“I only dreamed of this exact moment every waking moment you were gone.” He told her and shuddered on the last word, she had started to choke on him and roll his balls in her hand.
“Fuck,” he pulled her head away. “On the bed, face down ass up, now.” He commanded her.
“Yes sir,” She obeyed and wiped the precum off her bottom lip.
“That’s a good girl.” He pulled her dress up to reveal her ass, her center was glistening and wetness was streaming down her leg - of course she wasn’t wearing any underwear. He licked her cunt and she moaned loudly, she was extra sensitive. He couldn’t wait a second longer and pushed his dick inside of her hard and fast. “Fuck, you are so wet and so tight for me. I haven't felt you this tight in so long.” He bit his lip trying to last as long as he could, and looked away from her, trying to think of anything other than how good she felt. It was hard to not focus on it as she was moaning loudly into the mattress. He dug his hands into her hips and her back arched further. He was so deep in her she couldn’t stop a guttural throat moan from escaping her lips. That did him in, his thrusts speed up and he came inside of her hard, his legs even shook.
“Shit, urgh, I’m sorry Z. I told you I wouldn’t be long.” He collapsed on the bed next to her. “I love you, I miss you.” He swept the hair off of her face.
“That was perfect, thank you G, I love you. I missed you too.” She smiled. Her smile melted his heart every time.
They redressed and sat on the couch together in her living room. George was always excited to come to her flat, she had so much more muggle tech than his family did. They watched a movie, her choice, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. They spent a lot of time this summer together. She didn’t want to be left alone for too long. Her mom had buried herself into work to avoid the fact that her new husband was on the run from the Dark Lord. When her mom did finally return home, Zinnia was already fast asleep, her feet resting on George’s lap.
“Oh hi George, how are you hun? Thanks for coming over, she missed you so much this week.” Ophelia Black was a stunning woman. And so kind. She had insisted that she would invest in George and his brother’s business when they finished school. She told him that as long as he took care of her daughter, money was no object.
“Hey, Mrs. Black I am good thank you. How was your trip?” He stood up carefully, removed Zinnia’s feet and placed them back down on the couch, and met Ophelia in the kitchen.
“It was lovely, I love St. Tropez, beautiful blue water and the most amazing people.”
“Good, I know Zinnia was happy to be on the beach, she brought me back a seashell, bless her.” He rolled the black scallop shaped shell in his hand.
“Oh that’s right, I have something for you too George! And Fred of course, here,” She handed him a slip of paper from her bag. “It’s a business account set up at my bank, only me, Zinnia, Fred, and you have access. I linked it with this card so it will autopay off. Use it for anything you need for the business, supplies, labor, a location, marketing, whatever. It’s all a business expense and I’ll get you the accountant’s info.”
“Oh wow, Mrs. Black thank you, you really don’t have to, a friend actually loaned us everything we need.”
“Please call me Ophelia, and you will always need more, maybe open a location in NYC, Zinnia would love that.”
“Wow, thanks Mrs. Bla- Ophelia. Really thank you.” He looked back at the living room to make sure Zinnia was still asleep. “Hey, I want you to know, Sirius wants to reach out, he really wants to meet her. I don’t want to overstep you, and The Order also wants to offer you their protection.”
“That’s ok George, we are fine. Thank you but no thank you.”
“I don’t pretend to know all the details that are going on. But I do know he is pulling numbers again and-”
“Obviously he is pulling numbers again or else my husband would be here.” She looked at him as matter of factly.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to. I’m sorry. Just here, take this. It’s the number to reach my father. If you and Zinnia need anything.”
“We have everything we need, thank you.”
He left the number on the kitchen island.
“Right well I am going to head out, will you tell Zinnia I said goodnight?”
“Of course George.”
“Goodnight Ophelia.”
***
It was the hottest day of the summer and George side along apparated Zinnia to The Burrow. The arrived a few miles away from his childhood home down by a small lake surrounded by trees.
Fred, Ron and Harry were taking turns jumping off a rope swing tied to a tree branch that hung over the water. Luna and Ginny were floating in the water inside black rubber inner tubes, and Hermione and Angelina were lounging on beach towels, both reading a book.
George joined the boys to jump in the water while Zinnia joined the girls on their towels.
"What are you nerds reading now? School doesn't start for nearly three weeks!" Zinnia said, grabbing Hermione's battered copy of Hogwarts a History. "You know Granger, I thought you were the 'brightest witch of your age,' but its taking you ages to finish this damn book. And the glue on the spine seems to have worn off"
"I'm RE-reading it, for your information." Hermione said back.
"You think you would have it memorized by now then." Zinnia tossed the book back in Hermione's lap. "Anyway I can't wait for this year to be over so I never have to read a stupid dusty book again."
"I'm boiling alive, gonna get in the water." Angelina said to the girls as she made her way to the shore. Angelina never stayed around Zinnia long enough to hold a conversation. The most they had ever spoken was on their first train ride to Hogwarts. Zinnia watched her walk into the water, Fred swimming towards her and giving her a kiss.
Zinnia took off her black linen sundress and laid back on a spare towel, plopping a oversized black sunhat on her blonde head. She wanted to try to keep the tan she got from vacation, she knew soon enough she would be in Scotland never to see sun for months. Just as she had started to relax, her eyes were jerked open from cold water being splashed on her skin. Ginny had gotten out of the lake and squeezed her damp hair on Zinnia's body.
"Ginerva! what the hell!" She shouted as Ginny and Hermione burst out in uncontrollable laughter.
"Chill Z it's water, you looked hot I wanted to cool you down." Ginny said, sitting next to Zinnia. Ginny was covered in freckles, and her one piece swimsuit was a modest baby blue, she was in contrast sitting next to Zinnia wearing her scarlet red bikini and sun kissed skin.
"It is bloody warm isn't it? I'm going to jump in." Hermione said, her eyes on Ron at the rope swing. She closed her book, taking special care with it's loose binding, and headed towards the boys.
"Gee, you sure know how to clear out a room." Ginny said.
"Hermione and Angelina just don't enjoy my company. It's fine I take no offense." Zinnia replied, looking closely at her manicure, pretending not to care.
"Maybe just trying being nice to them? Or at least stop insulting their bushy hair or, how did you put it, 'overly masculine shoulders'?"
"It's not that I insult them with malicious intent, they just take it that way. I give constructive feedback."
"That no one asked for?"
"It's growth, let's say character building. Or tough love."
"So you say it because you care?"
"If you had spinach in your teeth, wouldn't you want someone to tell you?"
"Fair point."
George was exiting the water and coming towards the girl's towel.
"Hey! You should come in the water feels bloody incredible." He said, sitting next to Zinnia on her towel.
"That's ok love, I prefer my water with a little more clarity." Zinnia replied, laying back on her elbows.
"The water's perfectly safe, if that's what you were insinuating. This lake is full of aquamoebas! Much more clean then The Black Lake, for swimming at least. Didn't I see you and Lyla Parkinson one night in The Black Lake with George and some others last year?" Luna had butted in, seeming to have come out of nowhere. "The Black Lake is much more contaminated than this natural spring-" She began again before Zinnia cut her off.
"Thank you Looney, for your insight. It always is riveting. I think I will cool off in the aqua-me-bops infested water." Zinnia stood and removed her sunhat, the sun beating down, causing her to squint her eyes.
"Aquamoebas! The purify the water with their waste product!" Luna was continuing on as Zinnia and George left her at the towels with Ginny.
"What is with your friends and their useless knowledge?" Zinnia asked George as they waded deepening into the lake. It did feel amazing, her heated skin soothed in the cool water. "Mmmm this does feel so nice though, thank you for bringing me here. I desperately needed a break from that depressed apartment."
"You should stay the night, you can sleep in Ginny's room with Hermione. Then I can come sneak you out and we can go wherever. Anywhere you like." George said. They were deep enough in the water that they could swim around, but not so deep that they couldn't reach the bottom.
"Anywhere?"
"Anywhere."
"New York?” She asked, desperately missing her city.
"Anywhere that we can apparate to." George said.
"Or we could just come right back here, later tonight, when everyone else has already gone to sleep." Zinnia whispered in George's ear, wrapping her arms around his shoulders.
"Mmmm, I like the way you think, Black." He whispered back.
The day carried on with many backflips into the lake off of the rope swing, a game of chicken with Angelina, Fred and Zinina and George. Harry, Hermione and Ron had left to head back to the house and Luna and Angelina had headed back to their homes.
Just Ginny, Fred, George and Zinnia were left out in the late afternoon sitting on the large beach towels.
"What do you think next year is going to be like? Our last year at Hogwarts, I can't even believe how fast it's gone by." Fred said.
"Suppose it will be just like all the others, only we will be causing more chaos at a higher level this time." George replied.
"Speaking of, we do need to finish up those orders at some point." Fred told him.
"That can be a tomorrow problem, I am not going to stress about anything right now." George said, putting his arm over Zinnia's shoulders.
"George don't touch me it's still to hot out here with the sun." Zinnia groaned, shoving his arm off her shoulder. "Anyways Ginny, you will be fine, he definitely likes you."
"Zinnia!" Ginny tried to shh her.
"Who likes you?" Fred and George said in perfect unison.
The boys hadn't been listening to the girl's conversation until now, they were busy planning and discussion their next invention.
"Oh will you two give it a rest with the overly protective big brother trope? She's going into her fourth year, she can handle herself." Zinnia said, giving Ginny a wink and a smile.
"Nah, you're a terrible influence. Ginny, don't listen to her. You trust her taste? She's desperate enough to date our brother!" Fred said with sarcasm.
"No, Merlin! I don't trust her taste in guys, just her advice to obtain them." Ginny said.
"Thank you?" Zinnia asked.
They talked some more about the upcoming school year, and the crazy pervious school year. Harry's claim that Voldemort was back was impossible to not discuss in turn.
"I don't want to talk about this. Can we just make out bets on who the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor will be this year?" Zinnia squeezed her eyes tight when Fred was going into detail on Harry's retelling of what he saw at the end of the maze.
"Sorry, Z. I forgot you are sick of hearing about this." Fred said, seeing her obvious discomfort.
"It's fine Fred, thanks." Zinnia told him as Ginny started to cut her off.
"Ok I think this years DADA professor is going to be Tonks." Ginny said.
"No way it's Tonks she would have outed her self already." Fred replied. "It's got to be Fletcher and I bet he doesn't even know it yet. Bet Dumbledore just magically tethers him to the school grounds so that he can keep an eye on him."
"Dumbledore isn't worried about Fletcher." George said, rolling his eyes.
"Are those people who work at the ministry with your dad?" Zinnia asked them.
"Kind of. But the ministry is so wacked out now. Fudge is in everyone's ears telling them Harry's a liar. He even told dad last week that Dumbledore made him say that to cause panic. The whole thing is ass backwards." George said.
"If Fudge keeps trying to discredit Harry things are going to get bad quickly. But I don't want to talk about it anymore, it's not like we can do anything about it anyways. It's too frustrating, He's pulling ranks daily and were here sitting on our hands as our minister is living in la la land." Zinnia said, taking notice of the guilty look that Fred and George gave each other.
Their auras had shifted to a purple haze, guilt and sadness. Ginny wore it as well and stayed looking down at her palms.
"You're right Zinny, we shouldn't talk about it anymore. It's too much. You want to head back to the house? We can make some dinner and get ready for bed. I'll even let you braid my hair." Ginny said.
"Yes! Can I try to fishtail your hair? I've been practicing I'm getting really good and your hair is longer than mine so it will look so much nicer than mine does," Zinnia continued to ramble on as Ginny flew them both back to the house on her broomstick.
*George's POV*
George watched as his sister and girlfriend zoomed out of sight on a hand-me-down broomstick.
"I should tell her." George said to his brother. "About The Order. It's nearly impossible to hide anything from her, she can read auras so clearly sometimes I think she can actually read my mind."
"What about her mum?" Fred asked.
"She's 17 now she deserves to have a choice like we did. Ophelia can't protect her from what is coming."
"But she'll pull the fund-" Fred started but George snapped back at him.
"Fuck her money. If He wins there will be nothing. It's all so backwards. She thinks she can tow the line between us and them and keep Zinnia out of it all? It's delusional the whole thing and it's driving Zin insane! She is going to get both of them killed and I can't keep pretending like I don't know what is going on. I can't just go to school this year like everything is normal."
"Mate, you can't get sucked into the bullshit. That's what He wants, for all of us to loose hope and give up. You and I George, we're the best hope to keep people's spirits up. I know it's corny but it's true. Laughter is the best medicine. How do you think we already have so many preorders in what is quite possibly the darkest time in wizarding history?"
"No, you're right. But I'm telling Ophelia we're done taking her money if it means we have to lie to Zinnia. It's making me sick, I can't even look at her without her seeing right through to my soul."
Fred let out a long sigh. "Fine mate. You're right."
"Thank you. I know it will be hard without the extra funding but at least the intentions are pure."
The twins appareted back to The Burrow and George didn't have it in his heart to tell Zinnia the whole truth. He watched as her and his little sister laughed until tears were streaming down their face as Ron's tongue trippled in size after trying their latest candy. He thought there was no reason to ruin a fun and carefree evening with terrible news.
