All These Questions

Draco's eyes became sluggish and the book in his hands became heavy, peacefully Draco lingered into a state of repose as he fell victim to a longing slumber.

Harry was at least a bit concerned, Malfoy had shared about what his father had done to him and yet today he was nowhere to be seen. It had put Harry on edge. Thinking back to yesterday, malfoy had agreed to let Hermione help, that was if she agreed to.

It was supper time and Draco’s presence was still unfound. Harry had decided that there was no better time to ask Hermione about Draco’s predicament.

“Mione,” Harry says, gathering the attention of his friend.

“Let's say you knew someone who was.. Uh, in trouble, would you help them?” Herminone focused on Harry.

“Yes Harry, I would help them, I'm not a monster.” Harry looked down at his plate then back up at his friend.

“Well what if that person and you had a history, and they were kind of terrible but now they’re completely different and needed your help?” Hermione kept her gaze on Harry and sighed.

“Well if this person had really improved, I suppose that I would help them.” Harry seemed to relax a bit.

“So Harry, mind telling who this alleged ‘in trouble’ person is?”

“Well um, it’s” Harry shifted in his seat and spoke softly.

“It’s Malfoy” Unfortunately Ron seemed to hear their conversation.

“What! That jerk of a bloke, you can't be serious Harry! Have you forgotten how he treated us, how he treated you.” Harry let out and exasperated huff.

“Ron of course I remember but you have no idea, he’s cursed, he can’t speak! And if he tries he hurts himself, he’s actively in pain every single time he tries to reach out, not to mention that he’s been hurt by the war just like all of us. No doubt that's why he acts so differently." Harry said the last part quietly.

“Fine. Go help bloody Malfoy, see if I care but don’t come crying to me when he hexes you or something. This is probably some guilt thing anyways.” Ron grumbled and turned away from the two and continued to eat his dinner.

“So Mione will you help him?” Harry had a hopeful expression on his face.

“Well I'll go talk- or see him at least.” Hermione said before returning to her own food.

There was something at ease in Harry, maybe it was the fact that Malfoy would have a chance, but there was still one question.

Where was he?

After supper Harry had still not seen him, not wandering the hallways, not in the potions room, nothing. discouraged, he headed back to his dorm with Ron.

Taking off his school robes and changing into something more comfortable suddenly it hit him, the one place where Draco might be. But it would have to wait, at least until his roommates fell asleep.

It was almost midnight when Harry was sure that everyone had finally fallen asleep, quietly he grabbed his invisibility cloak and silently escaped the room. Off to search for Malfoy.

Harry made his way into the library, avoiding any teachers patrolling the area. Walking to the back of the library he spotted a blond haired figure sitting on one of the chairs in the discrete area.

Malfoy

Harry peered in front of the chair to find the other fast asleep with an open book in his hands, he was out of uniform, his skin was so pale and Malfoy appeared so calm. Harry wondered how much he actually knew about him, what was a lie and what was the truth. It was then Harry realized that he was staring.

Pulling off his cloak and finding himself a bit uncomfortable he decided to wake up the sleeping boy.

“Malfoy wake up,” Harry said softly as he lightly shook Draco’s shoulder. The other did not wake but only stirred. Harry huffed and laid a hand on Draco’s face.

“Malfoy, it's time to wake up,” he said gingerly.

Draco’s eyes moved under his lids, his eyelashes moving ever so slightly.

This voice

It reminded Draco of his mother, how he’d fall asleep in front of the fireplace to his mothers delicate reading, only to be woken up again by the same comforting voice. The touch of a hand made Draco slowly open his eyes, they were met with ones of green, accompanying them was black hair and silver frames.

Oh

Draco felt the roughness of Harry's hand and almost leaned into it but stopping himself to look away from the boy in front of him.

“Oh uh, you’re awake” Harry said nervously while taking his hand back from Draco’s face.

Draco could only nod.

“So you were just reading in here the whole day?” Harry asked Malfoy intently.

Draco again nodded and pointed to the book in his lap. Harry looked at it with intrigue.

“That’s.. a muggle book, I didn’t think you’d be into that kind of stuff.”

Draco shrugged as he took Harry’s hand, spreading his hand Draco traced onto Harry’s palm.

He had hoped Harry would figure out the rest, favorably it seemed that Harry did.

“I’m actually here because I was trying to find you, and now I have so I should probably get back to my dorm, and you should too.” Harry said a bit confoundedly.

Draco rolled his eyes and picked up the book he was previously reading, before he could focus on the words Harry snatched the book from his hands and promptly sat down on the opposite chair.

Harry shot Draco a grin and Draco responded with a silent huff.

“Well because of you Malfoy I won’t be able to sleep, so I might as well read a book.” Draco turned away in annoyance.

“But..” Harry leered.

“Just for you I'll give you a Harry Potter exclusive and read it aloud.” This caused Draco to smile, just a bit. Draco rested back in his chair and listened to Potter’s surprisingly soothing voice and once more he allowed himself to drift off.
