Run, Little Badger, Run

Anastasia trudged through the woods, the branches breaking beneath her feet, which skidded and slipped through the slick mud whenever she stepped down too heavily.

It was a cold night.
And she had no idea where she was.
Growling angrily, Anastasia wrapped her arms tightly around herself.

She had tried to learn to Apperate- but she still hadn't gotten it down.
And now cold, soaked through with rain, and exhausted from her argument with her mother and screaming at the night, Anastasia couldn't even try.
Even if she thought she could, she really wouldn't risk getting Squinched.

Glaring at the ground, she cursed her mother yet again for the situation.

So what if she didn't want to marry Malfoy?!
So what if she wanted to be with his sister instead?!
Clearly he didn't want to be with her!
Surely it would just be better for their families if they let the Malfoy marry whoever he actually wanted to marry!
They'd likely still be a Pureblood!

Gritting her teeth painfully, Anastasia reached for her wand- only for her to yell out in anger as she remembered her mother had taken it from her earlier that day.

Spinning around in a rage, the Hufflepuff kicked at a nearby tree, screaming loudly, her voice bouncing off of the trees around her.

Going to kick the tree again, Anastasia instead froze in her tracks as she heard something snap loudly behind her.

Spinning around quickly, the young Hogwarts student took a slow step back.
In front of her was the large, dark shape of a fully transformed Werewolf, the light of the moon making the dark grey fur glow unnaturally.

Anastasia gasped, eyes widening as she felt fear welling up inside her throat.
She had no wand, no backup, no way to escape.
And here she was, face to face with a Werewolf.

Twice her size with razors for teeth and knives for claws, furr tangled and knotted, patches missing in places, open wounds and long fangs dripping with a deep crimson.

It panted, breath condensing infront of it like a dragon.
But Anastasia would much rather face a dragon than a Werewolf.
If she was facing a dragon, she most likely wouldn't be alone, at least not for long- but there was no chance for help now.

Her breath picked up, a strangled whimper escaping her throat painfully as she began to step further back.
The Werewolf's yellow gaze followed her, glowing deep with hunger and rage.

If she ran, it would chase her.
If she stayed, it would eat her whole, she was sure of it.

If she ran, she might have a chance.
A small chance, but a chance all the same.

Taking a breath, Anastasia tried to calm her thundering heart beat.
Staring at the creature standing infront of her, she locked eyes with it, searching for any sign of the human within the beast.
There was nothing.

Anastasia swallowed, before she bolted in the opposite direction.

It didn't take long for the wolf to follow, snarling and growling as it launched itself through the trees.
Claws scouring at the trees, decimating the fallen leaves and branches beneath it.

Anastasia screamed as a large paw narrowly missed her, claws scratching at her arm, destroying the sleeve and leaving her arm bare and bleeding.

Gasping in pain, the young Hufflepuff stumbled to her left in an attempt to avoid another attack from the wolf.

Tears burned at her eyes, falling down her face like acid as the cold air slashed at her face.
Forcing herself to go faster, the witch focused on a tight group of trees just ahead of her, too closely knit together for the wolf to reach her.

She was only a few feet away, when her foot caught on a tree root.
Yelling out in pain as her ankle was pulled harshly, Anastasia stumbled forward, falling against the tree to her left, scratching her uninjured arm against the sharp bark.

She didn't fall, she didn't stop.
But she did slow down.
Not by a lot, but it was enough.

A scream tore from her throat, ripping through her lungs, as razor sharp teeth sank into her right shoulder, gnawing into the muscles of her shoulder, making it near impossible for her to move the arm.

Moving on instinct as a heavy paw tried to shove her down, Anastasia wrenched her shoulder out of the beasts mouth.

Stumbling forward, she screamed in pain once again as knife like claws slashed down her back, spilling crimson against the dark forest floor.

She gasped through near painfully gritted teeth, forcing herself to continue.
She stumbled forward, sobbing as she reached the tight cluster of trees.
She forced herself inbetween the tight trees, collapsing onto the floor as she gasped and struggled to breath.

Snarling and growling continued just outside her small area of safety.
Sharp claws and large paws slashed through the air as the gnashing of the wolf's teeth echoed loudly.
It clawed and wrenched at the trees, but they held firm.

Anastasia collapsed against the ground, pressing a hand against her badly bleeding shoulder.
Her eyes burned with tears as she glared angrily up at the starry night sky.

How was this fair?!

Anastasia growled low in her throat.
If she survived this, she would makeher mothers life hell.
