I was listing to 'reflections' - the neighborhood while writing this

James walked in the kitchen looking for something to fill up his late night cravings. He flipped on the light, and watched the kitchen come to life. Squinting his eyes from the bright light he made his way to a cabinet and found a cup. Walking over to the sink he glanced out the window and noticed a human sized figure out in the garden.

Checking the time he realized it was quite too late for someone to just be chilling outside. He made his way to the back door and glanced out. Still not being able to make out who the figure was, his curiosity bested him and he creeped out of the house.

He got close enough to make out a messy head of curls. James felt there was some weird tension between them lately that he couldn’t quite place, so he would take any peaceful moment with the boy he could.

Walking up to him he whispered “hi.”
“Merlin James, you almost gave me a heart attack’
“I'm not the one standing in the middle of the garden this late”
“Yes you are”
“Guess that's true, but you know what I meant”

Regulus never responded, just kept staring out at space. James looked out for what he was gazing at. His eyes immediately connected to Sirius. He had shown James his star the very first night they met, and it had been the first thing James saw while looking out at night ever since.

“Where is yours”
“What”
“Your star”
“Oh”
Taking James hand he pointed “There is Sirius, then you go up and a bit to the left, me”
“Wow” James breathed out

Regulus never dropped his hand. They stood there in the middle of the garden hand in hand. Reg gazing out at the stars and James gazing at reg. He caught himself and cleared his throat and looked back out.

His gaze went to Sirius, he smiled then lifted it up and to the left. He was holding that star, Regulus, in his hand right now. James wouldn’t trade it for the world.
