the car was full of their clothes, food, and just overall happiness.
“purple grapes are way better than green by a mile!” james shouted from behind the wheel.
“you’re so wrong!” regulus argued back.
“green grapes are so bitter!” “and purple is too sweet!”
james stopped laughing, looking back and forth from the road to regulus.
“what?” he asked at james’ sudden mood change.
“you’re so pretty.”
“shut up! eyes on the road, lover boy!” regulus laughed, pushing his face towards the road.
james laughed loudly, his smile so bright it could blind the cars that pass by, “only for you, love!”
they had always had the plan in the back of their minds to run away and be together till they end.
unfortunately james didn’t want to leave his parents and regulus was far too scared to fully commit.
but after james’ parents had both passed away, and regulus finally decided to leave his house when his parents tried to arrange a marriage between him and his cousin.
the plan seemed perfect.
so at 2 am, james had strict instructions to get everything he needed/wanted to bring, fill his car with gas, and pick regulus up.
it was now 1 pm, they’ve been on the road 11 hours, and still had about 30 ish hours till they arrived to a small town in georgia.
james has loved his own family’s country home when he was young and he wanted something like that with regulus.
he never thought he had a future with james. regulus always thought he’d marry some rich prissy girl and james would find someone that shined like the sun, the same way he does.
sometimes regulus still thinks he deserves someone like that, but in moments like these he can’t help but feel shamelessly selfish that he has james all to himself.
