the three champions
"I hope its Angelina.." Fred chimed over his food.
"Same," said Hermione as she, Harry and Ron sat down a the Gryffindor table, "Well, were about to find out, aren't t we?"
The Halloween fiest felt to last way longer than usually. Maybe because it was the second big meal in two days. Whatever the reason, Harry couldn't be much exited about the brilliantly made dishes in front of him. Much like everyone else -judged by the impatient faces all over the great hall. The overall wriggling, the constantly stretched necks, the curious glances over at the teachers table to where Dumbledore sat, pleasantly laughing with some other teachers enjoying his food. Seemingly everyone -just like harry- just wanted the plates to vanish to finally hear who the Champions shall be.
When they did every talk, whisper and voice raised just to quickly die out right after.
Professor Karkaroff and Madame Maxime on either of his sides each seemed to be less tense and expectant than everyone else.
Ludo Bagmann practically shined ahead and winked at one or the other student.
And Mr. Crouch looked to be downright bored.
"Now! The Goblet is almost ready to make its decision," said Dumbledore, "I believe it will only take another minute or so"
Harry felt his eyes hurt from how far back they rolled
";When the Champions name is called,"he continued, "I will ask each of you to step onto the Podium with me, past the table and then right into the chamber over there ... where you are going to get your first instructions."
The candle lights vanished so only the Pumpkin faces Provided any light. The Goblet of fire now shone even brighter as it led the whole hall to shimmer in a blue-white sleeve.
Every eye was fixed onto the gradient flame wich lit up in a red sparkle as a ember peace of pergament tossed out. Everyone seemed to be holding their breaths. Dumbledore catched the still glimmering name out the air and held it stretched out to read -now back to blue- glow. "The Champion for Durmstrang" he began, making sure to pause, leaving everyone in a teasing tension, "is Victor Krum!"
"Not a surprise&hellip..." Ron yelled above the applause chiming from every corner. The second champion, the one from Beauxbatuns, was Fleur De la Cuer.
"There she is!" Ron raptures as he pointed as if Harry weren't right next to him, seeing the exact same scene play out; Two girls crying to one another, applause, a weird singing noise charmed above as Fleur flounced to the teachers.
The majority in the room being from Hogwarts, the silent that now stretched out was much more tense than before. The Hogwarts champion was the next. The spark garles high, glowing red as it spat out yet another name. Not a whisper was heard. The only noise being the buisy flames that had once again turned back to blue. The last name flattered down into Dumbledores hand who put the still burning pergament to a rest.
Dead silence.
"The Hogwarts champion," Dumbledore began, "is..." visibly trying to hide a frown as the tension build, "Cassious Warrington!"
A unison gasp went over like a wave. A few screams and claps sounded before quieting down as those, prepared to cheer realised a Slytherin was chosen. A polite applause lasted a few seconds. Everyone watched as the second person tonight thatstood from the Slytherin table strut head-high too the front where he was greeted by a proud Snape, who led him away.
A murmur of mostly whispered discussions spread. A few booed or shouted their 'no!'s or 'we cant have a Slytherin champion!' coming mostly from Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. Some even demanded a retry.
But Warrington, being Slytherin, was used to it.
Dumbledore shut the noise, "Great! With that we have our Champions. Im sure you will all chee-"
Every whisper that could have been left hushed when once again, the Flames of the Goblet of Fire turned red for the fourth time this evening.
As if in Trance, a shocked Dumbledore reached into the air another time. His breath hitched repeatedly. He snatched the paper out the air and read it in silent.
A long pause.
Ludo Bagman was heard loudly when he read the pergament “beyond belief!” Before clasping his hand before his mouth in realisation he said that outloud.
Dumbledore stared at the sheet before his eyes sprung into the hall searchingly and he shouted for-
"Harry Potter?"
