"I fell–..." Marlene faltered, she honestly had no idea how to finish the sentence.
Sirius glanced at her, giving her a small nod to tell her to continue. He took a swift drag from the cigarette that sat delicately between Sirius' pointer and index fingers.
Her eyes glided aimlessly at the school grounds that surrounded her, until her eyes landed, and stayed fixed on Lily's auburn hair that was drifting in the wind from where she layed in the grass. admiring the way it blended with the fall air and the assortment of reddish–orange leaves that scattered the courtyard.
Her emerald eyes were slightly crinkled at the edges from the smile that was spread across her face. contrasting the colors around her, impossibly but somehow simultaneously complimenting them.
"She reminds me of October," Sirius gave her an odd look, eyebrows furrowed as he tried to understand what she meant.
"October?" Sirius questioned.
Marlene pulled her bottom lip between her teeth, chewing on it thoughtfully. once again unable to finish her train of thought.
She huffed a quiet warm breath, creating a small cloud in the cold air.
"She's like," Marlene's eyebrows pulled together, her eyes squeezing shut as she bit down harder on her lip.
"She's like an autumn breeze, like the first soft breeze– but still cold–" she added quickly,
"the one that nips icily at your skin" she said. Her cheeks dusted a rosy color.
Sirius couldn't tell if it was the wind, the lack of air from her rushed sentence, or the strange sentence she had used to describe lily evans.
Marlene exhaled a warm breath into her hands, trying to warm them up a bit before sticking them back into the pockets of her jumper.
"Those icy breezes that leave you with shudders, and goosebumps, and the confirmation that fall has arrived." Marlene piped up, eyes still trained on lily, mouth slightly agape in awe.
Lily's cheeks flushed with the icy wind Marlene had mentioned, her smile stayed present on her lips, parting slightly to let a breathy giggle escape them as she embraced the cold.
And Marlene just saw, not looking at anything in particular, just admiring.
Summer, Spring, Winter.
Nothing, nothing, nothing.
Fall, autumn, October;
incomprehensible warmth, color, wind, oxygen, soft lips, breathy laughs, auburn hair, emerald eyes, star dotted freckles, flushed cheeks,
Autumn, fall, October,
Lily Evans.
