Hogwarts : The Bangtan Episode
Summary
Jungkook is a first year at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Haunted by ghosts of his past, he struggles to meet friends and fit in until a ray of sunshine Slytherin, and a Hufflepuff with infinite hair colors step in. Throw in a genius (but people-stupid) Ravenclaw, a terrifying and maybe evil Slytherin who just wants to sleep, a Hufflepuff who is all fun and games until he tries to hurt you on the quidditch field, and a Prefect who's face lives up to it's name, and you've got yourself Jungkook's new life.I wonder what would happen if bad people started lurking and doing bad things around our beloved ragtag social project.Their ages are totally not accurate to book ages, so just make them older teens in your head.

Jeon Jungkook and Teeth. (Plus everyone's back!!)

Three days later, Jungkook woke up to all of Hogwarts smelling like bacon. Today was the day that everyone was supposed to come home, since classes started tomorrow. The house elves had prepared a massive breakfast for everyone, and Jungkook couldn’t wait to eat.

In fact, he simply couldn’t wait at all.

It was 5 AM and he snuck out of the Gryffindor common room.

Sometimes he’d go for early morning jogs or Quidditch practices, so he was used to sneaking out of the dorms. He knew where Filch prowled the hallways in the mornings, and he avoided the ghosts and main hallways. Taehyung and Jimin had shown him all of the most useful secret passageways, and the paintings typically warned him of if Prefects were out.

This morning, there was no one around. The hallways were silent, and it gave Jungkook plenty of thinking time. The only sound was quiet wind in the distance, and the occasional rumble of his stomach. He scrunched his nose in distaste, wishing he remembered to have brushed his teeth before exploring on his own. The mandrake leaf in his mouth still tasted foul, and while he couldn’t remove it since Hoseok’s spell was rather effective, he still wished the taste would go away.

He didn’t regret deciding to become an animagus with Hoseok, he wasn’t 100% sure on how he was going to tell the others. He had no issues lying to Jin and Yoongi, but he felt a little bad lying to his fellow maknaes. But he knew if he told them, they’d want to do it too, and really, it was just too dangerous. He wouldn’t let Hoseok do it alone, but he’d try to spare Jimin and Taehyung. The person he was most worried about though, was Namjoon. The Ravenclaw was impressively intuitive, and he could smell a lie from a mile away. There would be no bluffing if he was directly asked, so he’d just have to hope that he and Hoseok didn’t slip up. If everything worked out, they’d be animagi by the first spring thunderstorm.

There’s a cat ahead, Sir Jeon,” A painted knight said.

“Thanks Sir Arthur Middleton. I’ll watch out for it.”

This cat is a sure demon, thou art be careful.

“It’s just a cat, I’m sure-” Jungkook started saying but was cut off when the mentioned cat appeared. It was Yoongi, freshly transformed into a human. He looked tired and weak, with dark circles under his eyes and tufts of fur in his hair. “Oh. Hey Hyung.”

“. . . hey.” Yoongi moved to pass Jungkook and keep walking, but the younger one blocked his way.

“What are you doing up?”

“Aren’t I the Prefect? Shouldn’t I be asking you that?”

“I needed a walk,” Jungkook looked at where Yoongi came from and frowned. “Any sign of him?”

“. . . no.” Jungkook sighed and looked at the floor. He knew Yoongi had been practically living in the owlery for the past few days, waiting for Namjoon to come home. He chose to sleep there as a cat, since he was obviously avoiding Hoseok. The Hufflepuff wasn’t bothered by it, but he made Jungkook bring the Slytherin food after every meal.

Jungkook was always shocked by Hoseok’s actions, he was just completely unpredictable. He was so kind, but then would rip your heart out on the Quidditch pitch. He’d be cruel in a fight, but turn around and baby you while seething. He was so hot and cold, Jungkook figured it was just best to stay on his good side.

“You should. . . you should go back to your common room and sleep. You look ghastly,” Jungkook mumbled, and Yoongi rubbed his face.

“I know. I figured I’d try and get a few hours of sleep before the others came back.”

“Knowing Jin, he’d try to beautify you if he saw you like this,” Jungkook offered with a small smile. Yoongi tried to return the look, but failed. He seemed only more depressed.

He made a move to pass Jungkook again, but this time the Gryffindor let him. Only when Yoongi walked by did Jungkook finally speak.

Please sit with us at breakfast. Hoseok may be mad, but he cares about you. We want you to be okay.”

Yoongi looked back at him with an unreadable look. Jungkook had heard the fight in the Great Hall, hell, everyone had. He knew he was picking at a poorly healed wound, but he wanted his Hyung back. Meals and free time felt lonely and cold, and he couldn’t imagine what it was like for Yoongi who didn’t have anyone with him. At least Jungkook had Hoseok.

Yoongi chose not to respond and walked away, shuffled really, back towards the dungeons. Shaking his head, Jungkook continued to the entryway. He descended a staircase into a warmly lit hallway, decorated with many food related paintings. He admired the fruit, meat, vegetables, and one particularly beautiful piece with banana milk painted on it. Finally he found the one Taehyung had shown him, a big fruit basket with a big green pear on the left. Gently tickling the painting, the pear giggled, transforming into a handle. He opened the door and entered the kitchen.

“Mister Jeon!”

“Oh he’s back!”

“Our sweet Mr.Jeon! Always coming to visit!”

“So kind and polite!”

“Mister, please try some of this pudding-”

“No! Try my breakfast potatoes!”

“Will you tell us a story?”

“Shut up Winnifra, I want to hear his voice!”

“You got to wash dishes with him last week, I wanna spend time with him now!”

Jungkook chuckled, having to lightly push the little elves back. Ever since Taehyung took him and Jimin down there, the elves loved him. They tolerated Jimin just as much as he tolerated them, but they had a special love for Jungkook. Probably because he was strong and would help them move heavy pots. Taehyung was always their favorite, but Jungkook was a close second.

“Hey everyone,” He shyly waved, greeting multiple elves who stopped their work to say hello. “Hi Patchy. Lorentha, I like your tea cloth today, it’s looking very clean. Mouthir, good to see you. And Rewast, where is Lev? I thought you two were on soup duty this week?”

Jungkook made his way around the room, chatting lightly and accepting small food gifts from the elves. They loved to let him sample the newest dishes, and who was he to say no to their gifts?

“What is Master Jeon doing here at this hour? He should not be here,” One of the lead elves named Wooly said.

“Indeed, Master Jeon will lose house points!” Matches said.

“Come on now, you all know I don’t care about the silly points,” Jungkook chuckled, helping lift a soup pot onto a shelf. “Gryffindor wins every year anyway, so I don’t have to try.”

“That’s a rather piss poor attitude Mr.Jeon,” a house elf said from a little ways away.

Matches growled and lightly shoved the rude elf.

“Teeth, you cannot say such words to Master Jeon. He has only been kind to us.”

“I will say as I please,” Teeth responded, crossing her arms and frowning. “Free kitchens.”

Matches promptly slapped Teeth.

Teeth grabbed Matches and threw her to the floor, beginning an intense wrestling and biting match.

“Woah! Woah!” Jungkook immediately broke the two apart. “No need for that, come on now! Teeth can say as she pleases, I’m not offended.”

Matches grumbled and walked away, rubbing her knuckles in a menacing manner. The rest of the elves went back to work, but Teeth stayed by Jungkook.

“Why did Mr.Jeon come at this hour? Just to slow our work? Doesn’t he know we’re busy?”

“Come on now Teeth, I just wanted-”

“To steal our food?” Teeth gave Jungkook a glare. “We house elves are not stupid.”

“No getting by you, is there?” Jungkook chuckled, sneaking a strip of bacon from a nearby plate.

“If Mr.Park were with you, I would not say such things. He is acceptable. You are not.” Teeth snapped her fingers and the bacon in his hands disappeared.

“Come on Teeth! What did I do to you?”

Teeth rolled her eyes as if there was a long list in her head. Jungkook always thought it was funny, Teeth only liked Jimin. She hated Taehyung, and mildly disliked Jungkook, but Jimin? She loved him. Thought he was brilliant and down right hilarious. Whenever Taehyung brought them, she and Jimin would sit in the corner and shit talk for an hour. Jungkook hadn’t met many house elves in his days, but he thought they were supposed to be friendly and outgoing. Teeth was not like that at all.

“Mister better be leaving before post arrives, bad news coming.”

“Of course, I know Filch walks this hallway right before the post arrives. It’s not my first time sneaking down here, Teeth.” Jungkook grabbed a roll for the road, and Teeth gave him an extra glare.

“Teeth wishes it would be your last.”

“Come on, you love me.”

“Teeth thinks you should leave.”

Jungkook shrugs. At least she didn’t vanish his roll.

“Okay Teeth. Just because you asked so kindly. I’ll see you all later!” Jungkook waved at the elves, and exited the pear painting. As soon as the door closed, his roll disappeared.

Teeth must be laughing at her clever trick.

Rolling his eyes, Jungkook heads upstairs and is met with a rush of students and bags. The Hogwarts express must’ve arrived, because all of the students who were gone for break were back. Jungkook happily greeted some of his house mates as he wiggled through the crowd, looking for his friends.

When he saw Jin first, he was standing amongst a large group of fifth years. Jungkook managed to sneak up behind him, and he pounced, jumping on the bigger Gryffindor’s back and latching on.

“Woah!” Jin yelped, trying not to fall over.

“Hey Hyung!” Jungkook giggled, taking in Jin’s warm and inviting smell. “Missed you!”

“Ah, Kookie-” Jin laughed, setting Jungkook down and giving him a proper hug. “I missed you too! Hope nothing too crazy happened while I was gone!”

Jungkook let go from the hug and smiled at Jin, hoping it was a convincing grin. They’d catch up Jimin, Taehyung, and Jin later, when they were all together. No use explaining it all three times.

“JUNGKOOK!” Someone yelled, and then promptly tackled him. Jungkook fell over in a tangle of limbs and lavender hair. Quickly, another body fell into their pile, and Jungkook felt right at home.

“Hyungs!” He laughed. Taehyung helped him sit up, and Jimin detached himself from Jungkook’s sweater.

“Kookie! We missed you so, so, so, so, so much. You have no idea how boring the muggle world is! It took everything in me not to use magic!”

“Come on Tae, let him breathe. He’s probably been bored out of his mind all week, our exciting drama is too much for his tiny Gryffindor brain!’

“Oh please,” Jungkook scoffed, shoving Jimin away. “My brain is massive.

“It’s tiny, just like your di-” Jimin started to say, but was cut off when Jungkook slapped a hand over his mouth.

“You just came back Jimin and you’re already talking about my dick? I didn’t know I was so unforgettable,” Jungkook said casually, and a group of girls nearby giggled. Jimin blushed a deep red and shoved his hand away.

“Get your disgusting hands away from my mouth, you heathen. Merlin knows where they’ve been all break.”

Jin chose to step in at this moment, separating the boys on the floor and forcing them to get up. It was time for breakfast to start anyway, so the four made their way to the Great Hall. The sun had risen a little bit ago, and a light snow was falling from the high ceiling. Jungkook led them to their usual spot at the Ravenclaw table, where a few plates were waiting for them.

Before break, the group of seven would eat every breakfast and lunch together at the Ravenclaw table in the same spots. It was sort of like an unofficial meeting place, and no one tried to take their spots. The Ravenclaws chose to ignore them, and since all the houses were on good terms with them, nobody minded sitting there.

Jungkook happily plopped down in his normal seat, shocked to see a message written on his plate in jam.

I hate u, xoxo Teeth” Taehyung read aloud from Jungkook’s plate. “Jesus Teeth, that’s excessive.” Taehyung frowned when he read his plate, which shared a similar message of “Ur face is ugly <3”.

Jimin giggled, showing his plate that read in pretty cursive “U smell nice”, followed by jam-drawn flowers. Jin watched in confusion, partly happy there was nothing written on his own plate. Taehyung never dragged him or Hoseok to the kitchens, and it showed.

Speaking of the Hufflepuff, Hoseok soon joined them. He was met with plenty of hugs and small stories, which he happily encouraged and asked questions about. Around halfway through breakfast Taehyung asked the dreaded question.

“Where’s Yoongi and Namjoon?”

Jungkook glanced at Hoseok, who finished sipping his hot chocolate before answering.

“Yoongi Hyung is-”

“Here. I’m here.” Yoongi sat down out of nowhere, looking like he was trampled by centaurs. He had told Jungkook he was going back to his room to sleep, but he must’ve never made it because he looked worse than before. His hair was in complete tangles and tufts, sticking every which way. His skin was pale and gaunt, ashy in places and breaking out around his nose. He seemed to be swimming in his black coat and shirt, like he hadn’t been eating in days. But the worst part was his eyes. He seemed to be trying to appear happy and well-rested, but his expression was one of pain. He was clearly suffering.

“Hyung, yay-oh holy fuck,” Taehyung said, choking on his words and cursing on accident.

“Wh-” Jimin turned around and nearly spit his orange juice all over Yoongi. “Merlin’s beard, you look-”

“Fucking disgusting!” Jin said, and everyone winced at the truth. “I’m sorry, but as your Hyung, it’s my job to tell you the truth.”

“Don’t worry Hyung, I already know,” Yoongi muttered, setting his head down on the table.

“What happened? We leave for break, and come back to this! And where in the name of Grindewald is Namjoon? He is never late for breakfast.”

Yoongi sighed deeply, and Jungkook gently rubbed his back.

“We’re all here now, so we can finally share. We’ve had a. . . very eventful week,” Hoseok stated, pointing his fork at Yoongi’s slumped form.

“I will not be seen with him like this. Either it’s beautification time, or we go elsewhere,” Jin barked, and Yoongi started snoring.

“Room of Requirement it is.”

The six boys went straight to the Room of Requirement after breakfast, half carrying a very tired Yoongi up the steps and into the room. Hogwarts must’ve known they were in dire need of a catch up, because it made the room appear in the first five minutes of walking. Inside, there were pillows and couches, with a warm fireplace and desks for potential work. There were two unique things about the room this time, one being a full size bed in the back for Yoongi, and the other being a closed door on the left wall.

Everyone helped get Yoongi into the bed first, making sure he had water and enough blankets. He was asleep before they started talking, and Jungkook figured it was probably for the best. Everyone else made their way towards the fireplace, sitting down and getting ready for the recap.

“Care to explain why the untouchable ice prince is practically on his deathbed?” Jin asked quietly.

“We. . . got into a heated fight,” Hoseok said calmly.

“You beat him up?” Jimin asked.

“No, but I should’ve. Maybe I would've gotten the message through more clearly.”

“From the beginning please,” Jin said.

“Jungkook should tell you. He’s less biased than I am.”

“Um,” Jungkook hummed to himself, wondering where to start. “So the first night after you guys left, everything was great. Hogwarts let us find this room again, but it had books and alcohol in it. It was awesome. Everyone seemed really happy, and Yoongi even wanted to be with us. We all slept here overnight, and nothing was weird. The next day, it was the same. Messed around all day, and ended up here at night. Namjoon Hyung read me the Tale of the Three Brothers, and it. . . it got a little dark. We decided to go to bed a little earlier, and Namjoon Hyung pulled Yoongi Hyung off to the side. They seemed to get a little heated, and Yoongi kinda stormed out. Turns out, he’s been going on nightly walks by himself in the castle, in his Animagus form.”

“His what?” Jin asked, and everyone winced.

“Oh, sorry Hyung, I forgot. You’re the last to know, uh-”

“Yoongi is a cat Animagus. The cat that slept in my room for a week? That was him,” Hoseok said.

“Wait-what? Did you know this?”

“No.”

The room was quiet for a minute, and Jungkook took that as his que to continue.

“Well, anyway, he stormed out alone and went on a walk himself. He was gone all night. While we slept here, it turns out Hogwarts led him to a courtyard where he overheard a strange voice talking to itself. He basically said he was looking for a map, that some kid’s letters were leading him to it. He was really angry and intense with whatever it was talking to, but Yoongi couldn’t see the person anywhere. He then said he heard the voice say it had waited for this moment, that nothing would stop it, and it’d strike when he returns.”

“Who?”

“We don’t know. Then it. . . it said. . . “

He won’t be a problem. And if he is, I’ll kill his Ravenclaw friend to get him off my back. Yoongi is not a threat.” Hoseok filled in for Jungkook, reciting exactly what Yoongi told them.

“It knows Yoongi?” Jin asked.

“Supposedly.”

“It wants to kill Namjoon Hyung?” Taehyung said.

“I wouldn’t say wants to,” Hoseok answered. “But I’d say he’s willing to.”

“The next morning, Yoongi found us and told Namjoon everything. They were talking when Hoseok and I interrupted them. Namjoon seemed really upset and worried, and he kept insisting they ask his father for help. Yoongi kinda got reserved and careless, until finally Namjoon transformed into an owl and flew away.”

Jin blinked.

“Yeah, another animagus.”

“I hate them both. Next thing I know, Hoseok is gonna turn into a fucking llama.” Jin crossed his arms. “This is all illegal by the way.”

“Yeah,” Jimin added. “Plus, like, really dangerous.”

“Exactly what I said,” Hoseok added.

“Anyway,” Jungkook resumed. “Namjoon left to tell his father, and hasn’t returned. For around a week. Hoseok and Yoongi got into a little spit outside, and then the next day the big fight happened. Yoongi blew up at Hoseok who. . . may have said some stuff about his brother. Yoongi kicked him out of the Slytherin table. They’ve been avoiding each other for the rest of this week.”

“What’d you fight about?” Taehyung asked Hoseok.

“He claims we aren’t friends. He thinks that by pushing us away he’ll keep us safe from whatever is running loose in the castle. I won’t have it.” Jungkook noticed he left out the bit where he and him bound Mandrake leaves to each other’s mouths.

Jin hummed a quiet agreement.

“Finally, Yoongi’s been living as a cat in the owlry to escape Hoseok. He doesn’t eat, sleep, or bathe in worry that he’ll miss Namjoon. This is the first time he’s been around people and real food in days. The end.”

The boys sat in a circle, silently thinking everything over.

“So the soon-to-be-thief wants to steal some map. There’s someone writing him letters. And we’re waiting for who to return?” Jimin asked.

“We don’t know. Could be anyone. A teacher, student, maybe someone more worldy, like an obsessive death eater or Lord Voldemort.”

“We guessed a student, since it just was break,” Hoseok said. “That’s why we need to stay in a group. I was hoping Namjoon would be back by now, but. . . “ He looked at the window and sighed. “It’s not safe anymore.”

“So we tell a teacher like normal people,” Jin stated.

“And get the school shut down? Absolutely not,” Jungkook said.

“Jungkook, this is life and death we’re talking about. Namjoon could die. It’s bigger than just wanting to go home or not.”

“We have no proof though,” Hoseok said. “We’d just look like crazed liars. A strange voice makes cryptic half threats? Nothing has happened anyway. There’s a chance it was just a prank on Yoongi too. Something needs to happen first.”

“Aren’t we doing exactly what the voice told us not to do though?” Taehyung asked. “I mean, Yoongi is literally getting involved.”

“Hogwarts wants us to get involved. It led Yoongi there.” Hoseok leaned forward.

“And you trust him?” Jin asked. “He insulted you, no? Renounced your friendship over this? And you believe him fully, you’re ready to fight for him? Hoseok, we just met these guys.”

“I know, but this-” Hoseok pointed around the circle. “This is right. Jin, we’ve been floating friend groups for years. Not one group is like this. Everyone just wants us for what we represent, your face, family, money, status, my sister, influence, Prefects, whatever. They never liked us for us. I’ve started learning more about these guys, their families, pasts, likes, dislikes, thoughts, and Jin, I don’t wanna leave. This is where we belong. I want to fight for it.”

Jin stared into Hoseok’s eyes for a long second, and Jungkook couldn’t help but see both sides' perspectives. If this really turned into a life or death situation, he would fight for them no doubt. But he didn’t know if that was just his house speaking, or the friendship himself. They had such a young friendship, and the ground was so unpredictable.

But these were the first people he ever told about Junki.

He didn’t do that lightly. There was no going back now.

Jin lowered his eyes to the floor, biting his lip. He slowly nodded.

“. . . okay. Okay. What do we do?”

“Find Namjoon first. We need him here, find out what his father says, make a plan. Stay safe. No one is safe until we know who the voice was and what it wants.” Hoseok stood up, pointing at Yoongi. “Also, we need to get him back on his feet. I’ll make up with him in time.”

Jin nodded, then gave Hoseok a hug.

I hope this is what we need to be doing.” Jungkook couldn’t help but overhear him whisper.

I can check in divination tomorrow.

Don’t bet my life on fucking tea leaves.”

Hoseok shrugged, and Jin smiled weakly. He went over to Yoongi’s side, gently pushing the sleeping boy’s hair off his sweaty forehead. Jimin joined him, quietly asking questions. Taehyung sat by himself on a chair, thinking everything over for a minute. He then took out a small book and began writing in it.

“What are you doing?” Hoseok asked.

“I’m keeping a diary. My little siblings said it was something they do when they get overwhelmed, and I wanna keep part of them with me, you know, more than the hair color choice-” Taehyung pointed at his freshly dyed locks.

*Knock Knock*

Everyone’s heads turned towards the door on the left wall. The door they didn’t enter from. It was dark oak, with no windows and no lock. Only a brass doorknob.

No one moved.

The wind howled outside the walls, and the fire crackled.

*Knock Knock*

The knocking was louder this time, more aggressive and pointed. Hoseok immediately moved to cover Taehyung with his body, dragging them behind the desk Jungkook sat by. Jimin leaned over Yoongi’s sleeping body, wand pointed at the door. Jungkook pulled his wand out too, gripping it tightly at the door. Jin slowly walked forward, creeping step by step towards the handle.

He had his wand trained at the wood, a worried look on his face. He reached out ever so slowly, turning the knob with his wand, and slowly opening the door.

On the other side was a sheer drop off. The door led to the outside, hundreds of feet up in the air, like a balcony was supposed to be built on the side of the wall, but they never got around to it. Snow and wind blew in aggressively, and nothing happened.

Everyone stood still for a moment, unsure what to do. Who knocked?

A speck appeared in the distance.

Jin raised his wand, ready to strike, when Hoseok yelled “NO!”

An owl barreled through the snow, smoking.

It flew through the strange door, crashing into a couch.

It was a Great Horned Owl.
