Hogwarts : The Bangtan Episode
Summary
Jungkook is a first year at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Haunted by ghosts of his past, he struggles to meet friends and fit in until a ray of sunshine Slytherin, and a Hufflepuff with infinite hair colors step in. Throw in a genius (but people-stupid) Ravenclaw, a terrifying and maybe evil Slytherin who just wants to sleep, a Hufflepuff who is all fun and games until he tries to hurt you on the quidditch field, and a Prefect who's face lives up to it's name, and you've got yourself Jungkook's new life.I wonder what would happen if bad people started lurking and doing bad things around our beloved ragtag social project.Their ages are totally not accurate to book ages, so just make them older teens in your head.

Jeon Jungkook and Bestie Banter

The fat lady closed silently behind Jungkook as he snuck into the silent corridor. Was sneaking out on his first night a great idea? Probably not, but really, Jungkook just didn’t give two shits. He couldn’t sleep, and staring at the ceiling while listening to his roommates’ snoring didn’t sound like the best use of his night.

He crept along in the darkness, not bothering to use his wand for light. Not that he could perform the spell anyway, he’d never been taught by an actual teacher. He doubted his brother showing him how to wave around a stick while screaming ‘Lumos!’ counted. Not that he doubted Jung Hyun’s skills in teaching, but he was an auror, not a professor.

Jungkook made it to a dark balcony, one where he could easily hide in and relax for a while. He sat himself in the corner, enjoying how the moonlight cut through the clouds and lit up his hiding place. As his eyes adjusted, he pulled his Gryffindor crest from his pocket, turning it over a few times. It looked just like Jung Hyun’s, just like he’d plucked it from his older brother’s robes. He’d never dare do that, Jung Hyun’s things were all packed neatly away in the attic. Not even Jungkook’s parents went up there anymore.

He didn’t mean to, but he lightly sniffled. His throat burned and eyes stung, and he used his sleeve to delicately pat at his eyes. He hadn’t meant to cry on the first day, he was a Gryffindor. They didn’t cry, or get scared, or sad, or-

“I found him!” A head of electric blue hair popped in Jungkook’s peripheral, accompanied with a boxy smile. Jungkook yelped and threw his badge on accident during his scramble away from the boy.

“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you, here-” the boy grabbed Jungkook’s badge off the floor and handed it to him, before promptly sitting next to him. Another head popped around the balcony entrance, this one was blonde and he was much shorter. His features were rather pretty and smooth, but were marred by his look of disgust.

“Tae, I told you to slow down! I don’t have that long of legs! You could have lost me in the tunnel-” The new boy whined, fixing his hair while sitting down in front of Jungkook and blue-hair-boy.

“Sorry Jiminie.” Tae responded with a smile. “Worth it though, look who I found!”

Jiminie blinked at Jungkook like he just noticed he was there, an unreadable expression on his face.

“Who exactly is this?”

“Oh, he’s. . . uh-” Tae’s smile dropped. “I have no clue.”

“Fuck! Again Tae! You know our rules about this! We aren’t supposed to talk to strange students because they could be more upperclassmen who want to bash our heads in. Don’t forget what happened last year.”

“Yeah, but Jimin, we were first years, now we’re-”

“Second years. Not a big jump.”

“What would you know about big jumps? You can’t even reach the brooms in the broom shed-”

“Kim Taehyung! I am tall enough to reach the brooms!” The blonde seethed. “I’ll have you know I grew 3 cm this summer!”

“Still can’t reach the brooms!”

“You!” Blondie pointed at Jungkook, who was really, really wishing he had an invisibility cloak at the moment. “You’re an older student, no? Would you say I could reach the brooms?”

Jungkook had a very long list of things he thought he could say at this moment, things like “I’m a first year!”, “Don’t hurt me!”, and the honest “. . . no. You’re shorter than Professor Flitwick.” but he chose to not go with any of those answers, simply because Blondie was pointing his wand at Jungkook’s throat.

“. . . sure. Yeah. Totally.”

“See Taehyung! Told you so!” Jimin squealed in happiness, his eyes disappearing in a massive, genuine smile. Taehyung sighed, kicking a piece of loose rubble around.

“Fine. But only cuz this older guy said so. Speaking of which, what’s your name?”

“Jungkook?”

“Sounds sexy,” Jimin winked, sliding just a bit closer. Taehyung rolled his eyes in disgust. “I just have this thing for older guys, so like, what are you? Third year, or fourth? Maybe even fifth?!”

Jimin and Taehyung both leaned in closer for the exciting news, and Jungkook could only blink at them in confusion. Were they serious? Had they not seen him get sorted earlier that night in the Great Hall? Or how about his patch, which wasn’t magically sewn onto his uniform yet like everyone else?

Using that train of thought, Jungkook blinked and glanced down at their house patches. He was a little shocked to see they were different, Jimin was a Slytherin and Taehyung a Hufflepuff. An odd matching, but it made sense neither of them were in Ravenclaw. They wouldn’t be having this conversation if one of them was.

“Dude. . .” Jungkook responded, suddenly finding his voice. He felt a little braver in the absence of their brain cells. “I’m a first year.”

“WHAT!”

“AH HELL NO!” Jimin and Taehyung gasped in shock, followed by Hufflepuff laughter and Slytherin horror. “NO! I can’t believe it! I called your name sexy! I flirted! WITH AN UNDERCLASSMEN! HOW EMBARRASSING!”

“HAHAHA! AH!” Taehyung wheezed, holding his sides. “Jungkook, you got him so good!

Jungkook chuckled a little too, before wiping his face once more.

“Sorry, but it’s true. That’s why my badge isn’t sewn on yet-” Jungkook held up his Gryffindor patch, to which Taehyung snatched away and started inspecting.

Jimin sighed in defeat.

“It’s fine, I should’ve known better. It’s the part Veela in me, always on the hunt. Jimin, by the way. Park Jimin.” The blonde held out his hand, and Jungkook timidly took it. The older boy was warm and had really soft hands. “My partner here is Kim Taehyung. He’s in Hufflepuff and I’m in Slytherin. Both second years, though I think you already figured that out.”

“Yeah, you guys did have a whole argument in front of me.”

Jimin shrugged as Taehyung handed the badge back to Jungkook.

“Why haven’t you put it on yet? Didn’t Dawon show you all how?” Taehyung asked genuinely.

Jungkook’s face dropped as he responded with “Uh, well, I-”

“It’s okay Kook, we don’t pay attention very well either, here-” Jimin snatched the patch from Jungkook’s fingers, before lining it up to his robes. Before he could even argue, Jimin waved his wand and the patch began stitching itself into his robes. “There! All done!”

Jungkook looked down at his chest, blinking in shock at how quickly Jimin had done it. He sewed it on rather perfectly too, his spell work was flawless, especially for only a second year.

“. . . thanks?” Jungkook responded, partly lost in his own world while Jimin and Taehyung started talking about quidditch tryouts next week. He ran his fingers over the smooth patch, wondering if Jung Hyun felt the same way when he got put into Gryffindor. Did he feel this. . . lost?

“-maybe a chaser? He’s pretty skinny. So what is it, Jungkook?”

“What?”

“What position do you play? Chaser?” Taehyung asks, looking Jungkook over.

“Oh, nah, my brother would always play chaser-” Jungkook paused, face souring over bringing up Jung Hyun. “I play seeker.”

“Of course he does,” Jimin rolls his eyes and fluffs his hair up. “He’s the classic Gryffindor, no doubt a Harry Potter wanna-be. All Gryffindors think they’ll be the seeker, until they actually get on the field. Half of them don’t even make it through Hoseok’s training camp.”

“Hey!” Jungkook exclaims, narrowing his eyes. “I’m not a Harry Potter wanna-be. And I’m a decent seeker, that’s the truth.”

“Stop trying to be all daring and adventurous, there’s no shame in admitting to being a beater,” Jimin smugly responded, egging Jungkook on.

“I am not a beater.”

“Well obviously not, you’re built like a twig.”

“At least I’m taller than a twig,” Jungkook bites back, and Jimin frowns.

“Oh no, not you too! I won’t take this. I already deal with one idiot not in my house, I won’t stand another disrespecting me and my height!”

“Sit down snakey-” Taehyung pushes Jimin back onto his bottom. “Before you alert the whole castle that we’re up.”

Jimin grumbled on his own, glaring at Jungkook for a few minutes before ignoring both boys in favor of picking his already perfect nails. Taehyung simply rolled his eyes in response, opting to chat with Jungkook more about quidditch.

The night dragged on, and soon the moon was high in the sky. Jimin forgave the two of them, and they all chatted. Jungkook found that both boys were pretty entertaining and fun. Taehyung was a little odd, no doubt fitting into Hufflepuff perfectly. His hair changed from electric blue to maroon halfway through the night, and he explained that one of his younger siblings accidentally got hold of his wand over the summer, and somehow cursed his hair while he was sleeping. He hasn’t been able to figure out how to stop it, but claims he likes it.

Jimin on the other hand, was harder for Jungkook to get a grasp of. He acted high and unattainable for one second, but then a minute later would be sweeter and kinder than any Hufflepuff could ever be. His personality was like a rollercoaster, and Jungkook couldn’t quite tell if he liked the ride or not.

Just as they were talking about the next day’s schedule, a strange clatter came from the hallway. All three paused, frozen in fear that they’d been caught.

“Tae?” Jimin asked.

“I. . . I don’t know, Filch wasn’t patrolling these hallways tonight, and those sixth years went to the kitchens, why would they be up here?”

Jungkook huffed, crawling forward till he could peek around the doorway. He couldn’t see anyone in the hall, but he knew better. This was a school of witchcraft and wizardry after all, and he wasn’t an idiot. Pulling out his wand, he whispered “lumos!” and silently thank his brother in his head when his wand emitted a weak glow. Still, the corridor was empty. Except now he could see further into the darkness, and a few paintings lining the walls.

“No one’s here?” Jungkook whispered to the two behind him, and they peeked around the corner above him.

“Tae?” Jimin asked again, to which the younger man hummed a confused response.

“It . . . it feels like someone’s there but. . . not?”

Suddenly, a tiny form saunters out from the shadows.

It was a cat.

Jimin squealed and ran forward, scooping the animal up into his arms.

“Mr.Mittens! You came back to me! My sweet baby!” Jimin twirled Mr.Mittens around, before littering his tiny face with kisses. Jungkook and Taehyung slowly approached, less excited about the cat.

“Mr.Mittens?” Jungkook asked.

“Yeah, it’s his ‘cat’” Taehyung made air quotes. “We found him wandering one of the secret passageways last year, and Jimin tried to make him his pet. Somehow he escapes every time, and Jimin can never keep him longer than two hours. Keeps coming back though, the stupid thing.”

Mr.Mittens seemed to glare at Taehyung when he said that, and Jungkook shuddered. Something about Mr.Mittens’ white fur, his sharp eyes, how he held his head, just didn’t sit right with Jungkook.

“Isn’t he just the cutest thing?! Here, Jungkook, don’t you want to hold him?” Jimin tried forcing Mr.Mittens into Jungkook’s hands, but he promptly stepped away.

“Sorry Jimin, I’m more of a dog person.”

“Lame. Both of you. Who wouldn’t wanna cuddle this handsome little man?!”

Mr.Mittens blinked lazily, letting Jimin parade him about. Taehyung eventually grew tired of his best friend’s attention solely being on the cat, and suggested they get to bed and sleep a few hours. Jungkook happily agreed, not loving the odd amount of eye contact he was getting from Mr.Mittens.

Taehyung quietly spoke to a painting nearby, which swung open for him, leading to a secret passage. Turns out it led right next to the Fat Lady, saving Jungkook a lonely walk. He thanked Taehyung and Jimin, while also making a quick mental note that Mr.Mittens was already gone.

He quietly entered the Gryffindor common room and made his way to his room, happy to find the snoring stopped and he was able to close his eyes and drift into a happy, peaceful sleep.
