Intro
The train rattled along the tracks, steam pouring from the chimney into the hot end-of-summer air. The trill of the horn shook its passenger cars, rattling sleeping children and exciting the rest. A frantic and almost magical energy was in the air, electrifying the passengers as they hurtled along to their destination.
Like always, the trolley lady passed magical candies and sweets to people, smiling as a handsome Gryffindor prefect thanked her. A tired Slytherin pushed his way past, annoyed at how many fourth year Hufflepuffs were blocking his path. The Slytherin shoved his way into a near empty compartment, ignoring the sleeping Ravenclaw who was already there. A giggling duo walked past, eyeing the now sleeping boys, wondering if they could possibly prank them before the train arrived.
It was the most joyous and wonderful feeling to be back, and the anticipation was buzzing in the cabins. The only place it couldn’t seem to reach was at the far end of the train. There sat a lonely first year, trembling in anxiety. He was tiny, with big front teeth and wide eyes like a rabbit. His black hair was long and in his eyes, his own invisibility cloak-but oh, what he would give to have a real invisibility cloak. Just for tonight. He didn’t care the rest of the year, but for tonight, he could not be seen getting sorted. The chances of him ending up in the wrong house were too high, and he refused to humiliate his family like that.
No one in the train bothered to sit near the first year, not even the other newcomers. His negative aura was too strong, even so that the trolly witch didn’t bother knocking on his door. But it was fine, Jungkook thought, it’s just for tonight. He only had to worry about tonight.
