Chapter 4
3th year
When Lucius received the calling to Hogwarts he thought the worst had happened. That his son got into another stupid fight, but this time he wasn't able to get free and without too much damage.
Imagine his surprise when the nurse took the inside the area Draco had been just to see his child holding a child of his own. Looking so confused, with many emotions on his eyes.
Narcissa looked just as surprised, not processing the baby in her baby's arms came from Draco. She asked many questions.
Each and every single one was answered with embarrassment, a glassy look and teary cheeks. He looked regretful.
"I should have kept casting them..." Narcissa wanted to scold that yes, make her kid jump and hate what he did. But seeing him as miserable as he look. She couldn't do it.
"Are you keeping it?" Her husband asked without any delicacy.
Draco stopped looking at his baby's face, with red eyes and a hurt expression neither of the adults could decipher.
.
Summer holidays, 1995
Narcissa understood better than anyone how important are the first months of a child's life. They need to stay close to their mother to form a bond and overall, survive.
But she also understands how important is to live your childhood as you're supposed to, without responsibilities, playing and having fun.
He ordered Draco to go and have fun with his Slytherin friends. He deserves it and it's pretty much needed, her baby has barely slept, having to attend his children's needs, completely alone because Harry Potter has to be kept face in his relative's home.
Bullshit, the child is only an irresponsible parent.
So they kept the children, they will make sure everyone stays alive while her baby takes a break and goes to have fun with his friends.
The day started with Draco banging on their door, demanding them to wake up and take the kids while he goes and takes a shower.
Lucius at her right groans, telling Draco he was the one who birth them, to solve it himself.
She hits him on his arm. Before opening the door and let her kid in.
"So it goes like this" he presses James into her hands. "James wakes up first, he will cry and whine until you put him with any of his siblings. I'm serious, is the only way he stops crying" she nods, putting the child on the bed.
"Scorpius can be a handful. Too much energy in such a small body. Tire him out, play with him or enchant any of his toys for it. Otherwise he will wake Severus up, who will cry. Severus hates being woken up. He's the only one that you won't woke up, even if it's his feeding time" she holds the blonde baby that he shoved in her arms, he looks so much like Draco.
"Also please, Severus has to either be in someone's arms or floating, all the time. He hates being left on chairs, beds, counters, anything"
"How do you change his nappies?"
"The old way"
"A cleaning charm it is, then"
"Lily is... complicated. She likes to do anything on her own. Wakes up at her own hour, eats, sleeps, plays, you adapt to her, not the other way around. So follow her lead" she nods, watching the girl being floated until reaching the bed.
"Feeding. James, Scorpius and Severus can eat smashed fruits. Harry and I want to wait until we're together to get them vegetables, please respect that. Lily can only drink my milk, I left four bottles in the fridge, it will be more than enough" He sits on the bed, extending an arm to his mother and move it to the bed. She understands and puts Scorpius on it.
He floats little Lily to his other arm and Narcissa can't help but admire how he's holding two children at the same time, there's many people that can't even deal with one.
"Cleaning. I already told you about Severus. James enjoys being changed, he will try and pee on you, be careful. Scorpius is no problem really. Lily can be a challenge, she doesn't cries, you have to guess if she needs a change or not"
"Is extremely forbidden to" he makes figures with his magic, it looks like a hand and the babies on his arms look in awe "Hit them" Narcissa makes an offender sound, she would never, but Lucius... "Scream at them, silence them, closing them somewhere and let even one out of your sight"
Narcissa wonders for a second if this is how she looked as to her family, as an overprotective parent.
"What else? What else? Oh yes! Games. You can play basically everything but not throwing kids up in the air"
"Why? You loved that" Lucius answers from the blankets, he was paying attention the whole time.
"Because if you drop my child I'll hurt you"
For the second time that day, she sees herself in Draco. A parent whiling to do anything for their kid.
"Any other questions, I'll always be available, but if I don't answer, you can sent a patronus to Harry. Be discreet. That's all"
He gives each of his kids kisses and tickles their bellies, promising to come back soon and telling them how much he loves them.
The first few hours were going smoothly. They gave James smashed banana, Scorpius had some apple (rejecting the red one, just like Draco, Narcissa teared up a little for that), Sev had the red one Scorpius didn't wanted, and lily her first bottle of the day.
They had their first problem when Scorpius started to cry. He was clean, fed, they tried playing, every single one of the things Draco's said.
But Scorpius didn't stopped, if anything he wailed harder, mistreating his little throat. His scream awoke Severus, who begin crying. As in command, sensing something was wrong with the siblings he love so much, James woke up and cried. Dragging Lily with him.
A normal and conventional babysitter would have gone mad already, called Draco and begged for him to come back.
But they promised Draco to look out for them. And Draco needs this.
"What about the magical keys!" Lucius let's them float around, getting their attention for a second before Scorpius sensed this is not what he wanted and began again. His siblings following his lead. Little Severus screamed in his arms, as if sensing his twins pain.
"Or a magical bear! Maybe is that!"
"Hiya! I'm TeddyBaby! And I'm here to become your best friend!" The soft toy began dancing, trying to entertain the crying kids. It winced when in a burst of accidental magic he was sent flying by one of the children. It got caught on fire soon after, a wave of magic ensuring that.
"Dear Merlin!" Lucius screams, the bear starting to chase him, he ran around, avoiding toys in the floor and diapers they had to leave in the floor.
He protected himself from a moment, trying to stop the toy from burning his robes, at the same time Narcissa floated another you to her hand. Scorpius stopped crying.
"Wha— What did you do?"
"Nothing I..." soon enough Severus stopped wailing, cuddling into Lucius arms.
James crawled towards Scorpius, checking if he was ok now, after seeing him smile again, even putting the pacifier in his mouth by himself, he crawled to Lily, checking her too. She smiled at him, cleaning her cheeks. After seeing them he layed in the bed, satisfied by his siblings being happy.
"What's going on?" He mutters, dropping his shield slowly.
"I think their reign of terror finally stopped..."
But as soon as the shield was off. Scorpius began crying again.
"What did you do!?" Lucius asked, desperate to get the silent moment back.
"I don't— Lucius your magic!"
"What?"
"Pour your magic out!"
The man makes a face, weirded out by her strange request, he does it anyway, he trusts his wife, she does the same and the room gets into a comfortable silence again.
Narcissa cooes at her grandchildren before spelling their faces clean, trying to stop the swelling that could happen to their little eyes.
"Cissa?"
"He misses, Draco" she whispers, pulling Scorpius up.
"How do you know?"
"Magic, Lucy"
"Cissa, you know I hate that nickname—"
The woman laughs, tighten in her hold on her grandson.
"Babies recognize their parents magic, he didn't felt Draco's for a while. He probably got mad about it"
"But Draco didn't left any—"
"Did you not payed any attention, Malfoy" she mocked, using the same tone her sister, Bellatrix had on school, when mocking him friends.
"Ha. Ha. You're so funny"
"It's basic knowledge about heirs, Lucius" after she made sure Scorpius was alright, Narcissa goes to check on Lily, she looks completely ok, but a few detecting spell never hurt nobody.
"You seriously think my father, the man who wanted us to train Draco in duelling at three, let me read any parenting books?"
"Maybe if he had let you, you would know why your own son avoids you" it's a recurring theme, every day since Draco became ten, when his adoring father turned into am strict one, who will only accept perfection.
"You think is because..."
"Of course is because the casual smacks" she watches as Lucius puts down a sleepy Severus, figuring he will pick him up later, when he wakes up.
"I was raised—"
"I know... but remember the Quidditch cup?"
"I already apologized—"
"You humiliated him. Period"
Lucius keeps silence, he knows, that's why he is kind of envious, Draco does things so smoothly, as if he was born to be a parent.
When the 15th year old came back, covered in dirt and sweaty from a Quidditch match, his father frowned at him.
"Next time. You'll give us a collar infused with your magic, son" he gives him a handkerchief, Draco cleans the sweat from his forehead.
"They missed you, darling. You're a good parent"
Draco didn't understood his father's words, but mothers made him tear up a little. He is a good parent.

5th year
The plan was too easy, too perfect to fail. And still, just like Lucius, that little traitor said, the potter boy wasn't showing his face. It didn't made sense!
Bellatrix was so sure she ordered that stupid house elf to lie to Potter and made h come here. She was getting restless, she is the only one that can save her nephew's life now. She groans when another hour passed by. No sign of Potter coming.
"Bellatrix..." A hissing voice called for her, slithering through her body and choking her with his magic.
"Yes, my lord?" She looks at him. Strong, intimidating, furious, dangerous.
"Why didn't you told me about Potter and his... Descendants?"
"Excuse me? My lord—"
"Weren't you and your sister in good terms?"
"We— we were, my lord. But I'm not—"
"Apparently not good enough to tell you about her son having offspring... With Potter, nonetheless"
"What?! I'm sorry! I didn't meant to—" her breathing stops, scared from screaming to her Lord.
He hums in understanding.
"Change of plans Bellatrix, we need access to those kids..."
.
7th year
"Is not!"
"Of course it is! Is my responsibility! My parents died for this!"
"They died to give you a life! What happened to my boyfriend? To the father of my children!? The boy who would choose his family over—"
"I'm doing this for you!"
"You could just stay in here! Let all of them deal with it! You just turned seventeen!"
"I can't just— I need to fight. Please Draco, understand. This is—"
"Shut up!" His newly obtained magic reacts for him. Sending Harry against the wall. The Gryffindor doesn't even takes a second before standing up.
"I will go. I don't care about your opinion. This is so much more important than my life"
"I don't get it. Why is it so hard to—" a sob scapes his lips and he soon collapses on the floor, knelling. He covers his face as he begins crying. He can't. He can't lose Harry. He won't be able to survive. Their family won't survive.
"Draco..." there's arms around him.
Draco doesn't knows how much time he cried, but he guesses he fell asleep, after all he wakes up on his bed, alone.
The tears begin falling again, the blonde hugs the sheets, the still smell like Harry. And screams, he's in pain and needs to show it.
The house shakes.
He would have continued doing it, but a scream of "Mama" brings him back, his babies are first.
He's the only one who cares after all.
.
He could feel the magic moving inside his veins, touring all over his body, he feels alive.
His magic is going wild accommodating to the new leaks. While his children take magic from his to create their own, he still took from his own parents to finish molding his.
Now that he's the Lord of house Malfoy, he has to provide for all of them.
Mother doesn't takes any, but he still can feel her beating heart. Is a relief really, to know she's alive, whenever she is.
His children take their daily dose, is too little to actually feel it, except in random days. Where they take so much he feels lightheaded.
He can guess that those days, Harry is about to die.
Father takes the most, he supposes it's because the Dark Lord is still trying to break into the manor and his dad is doing everything he cans to prevent it, but it's ok. Draco can still deal with it, he just needs to only use magic in extreme cases, everything else, he will have to do it the muggle way.
He's cooking right now, or attempting to.
The instructions aren't clear, he has no idea what a mixer is or how to turn on an oven without magic, but he is trying for his children, they deserve better than a menu of sandwiches all week.
"Mama?" Lily asks, entering slowly, as if afraid of him, it's not fair, he didn't meant to blow out like that. He really, really didn't mean it.
"Yes, honey?" He answers in the sweetest voice he can.
"Is daddy gonna come back?" His eyes fill with tears, he wishes he could say yes.
"... wanna help mama in the kitchen?" He looks at Lily's green eyes. Making his best effort not to tear up.
"Yes, mama. What do I do?" She moves to the counter, her bothers enter the kitchen moving chairs, so all of them can actually see what he's doing.
"When I was young..." he's still young, barely an adult, he ignores his aching eyes "My parents used to cook, only one day of the year. They will dance around the kitchen while baking bread, cutting fruit and make soup" He ignores how his voice shakes, is inevitable to think about Harry. About how they could be like his parents, right now. But Harry is a stupid selfish man.
"On that day. I got to do the most special part of the food, and you will too"
His mum used to say it was the most important job ever, but he knew back then he was just playing.
"You have to make the stew, so..." he makes various ingredients float, it takes a toll on him, feeling dizzy, but he doesn't stops. He hides the ingredients all over their... Shelter "Go, search for them!"
His children run, laughing all the way down the living room.
"You better come back, Potter. Or I will bring you back and kill you myself"
