Chapter 5

I was hot. Every inch of my skin was buzzing with energy and I tried very hard to concentrate on the meeting I was attending. Even though the room was only comfortably warm, I had to focus on biting the inside of my cheek to keep calm.

Severus had brought me here an hour ago and he was sitting next to me with a bored expression. I huffed and crossed my arms. I couldn’t believe the audacity he had right now. After admitting that he felt my magical aura a couple weeks ago, he apparently deemed it as a permission to torment me during this order meeting. And the one before it.

Last meeting it had started as a subtle tap against my energy. I had thought nothing of it because we always seemed to clash our energies together. But apparently it hadn’t been accidental as he had continued poking at my barriers throughout the meeting. Lucky for me we hadn’t sat very close to each other so he couldn’t send big surges of power towards me or someone else might have noticed the shift in the air between us.

But this time he had intentionally sat next to me and was bathing me in the dark aura he had. Maybe he was tormenting me because of my mishap with Tonks earlier or he was simply doing it for fun.

I was sure he knew the effect he had on me. This energy he was sending was strong, suffocating and incredibly arousing. It brought me to a state where I really had to focus in order not to rub my thighs together or murder him.

The meeting was smaller today. No sight of Hagrid, the twins or Kingsley. I guessed they were busy with their tasks and had been given a free night. I wished for a free night as well. A night when I could throw aside my worries about the coming war, a night when I could just be who I was and enjoy the new friends and family I had gained in here.

“Any news on your patrolling duties, Maria?” I heard Dumbledore ask.

I lifted my head and met his eyes. I had been zoning out and it took me a moment to gather my thoughts again. “The camera is still working, and I haven’t seen anything too suspicious on my patrols."

Dumbledore nodded. “What about your visions? Any progress on them?”

“You- know-who has shielded his plans well. I have only been able to find out information through some lower ranking members,” I answered. “I keep on seeing a face in my visions. A leader of some sort. He is gathering a small group of people around him. They all hate muggle-borns very much. So much that they are making a list of all muggle born witches and wizards.”

Severus shifted next to me. “Scabior”, he said.

I whipped my head to look at him. His black eyes met mine. “He is recently released from Azkaban for minor crimes against muggles. The dark lord has been giving out tasks to keep his followers occupied. Scabior is in contact with Fenrir Greyback. They are rounding up more followers together.”

“How many?” Dumbledore asked.

“Greyback claims to have over 50 people fighting for them. More groups like this have started to form within the dark lords ranks and Scabior is not the only one who is doing the recruiting”, Severus said to Dumbledore.

“Why have you not told me this before, Severus?”

“Because he’s a slimy death eater, that’s why”, Sirius mumbled. He was sitting on the opposite side from us with a grimace on his face. He was glaring daggers at Severus.

“Sirius – “, Remus warned.

“How original, Black”, Severus hissed at him.

“It’s true! He sits with us at every meeting, listening tight and then he runs to Voldemort the minute he gets out of here. Have you no spine?” Sirius leaned forward on the table.

I felt a shift and Severus’s aura vanished from around me and tightened around Severus’s body angrily. He was getting ready to strike. “You should be careful what you say, Black. One accidental word and the aurors might just find you here.”

“I should’ve gotten rid of you when I had the chance!” Sirius stood up and pointed a wand at Severus.

Severus’s own wand was already pointed at Sirius before I had even registered what had happened. They were both standing defensively. Severus’s stance was rigid. He was fuming.

“Stop it”, Dumbledore tried. Neither moved.

“I liked you better in Azkaban. Where you belong”, Severus hissed.

“Sirius he’s not worth it”, Molly said. “Calm down.”

Sirius fired a curse at Severus, who blocked it fast. I heard commotion and several members of the Order stood up. Remus jumped up as well and took a hold of Sirius's shoulder. I jumped up and stepped in front of Severus before he had the chance to fire a spell back at Sirius.

I sent all of my energy at him and surrounded him with it. “Stop fighting goddammit”, I hissed at him. Severus’s eyes were still fixated across the room on a fuming Sirius.

“He’s not going to curse you through me. Look at me”, I ordered with an angry tone.

Severus refused to move his eyes from Sirius, who was now arguing with Remus. Remus was calming his friend down and trying to bring the situation to an end.

I shook my head and closed my eyes. How could I distract Severus? My energy was calming against his furious aura. But calming wasn’t enough. A thought crossed my mind and I braced for it to backfire. I had to try.

My calming energy turned into invisible fire around him. I mirrored his teasing energy from beginning of the meeting and doubled its intensity. The effect was instant and Severus’s focus shifted to me. He was breathing rapidly and I felt him succumbing under my aura. His pupils dilated and I saw his composure shift.

“Put away your wand”, I whispered.

He clenched his jaw and slowly lowered his arm down. “Good”, I continued.

I stepped away from Severus who was still squinting his eyes at me.

“Dumbledore, we have to go”, I said. The older wizard was standing near Sirius and talking to him with Arthur Weasley. The headmaster looked at me and nodded. The information could wait.

Severus had already vanished when I turned to leave. I followed his angry footsteps to the bitter autumn night.

With a crack, he apparated us to a dim lit street. A street leading to my neighborhood. He started walking through the gravel street towards to the end of the forest.

“What was that?” I hissed.

He stopped with his back turned to me. “How could you do that. In the middle of the meeting? Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?” he spat.

The gravel crunched under my shoes as I got closer to him. “I did it to stop you from attacking Sirius.”

Severus closed in on me on the dark alley. I felt his aura reaching towards me with the same intensity I had sent to him just a moment ago. My back laid against a tree, my breaths fast and short. His power filled my every sense. His scent wafted over to me and I had to bite my teeth together to keep me from moaning. Heat was already pooling between my legs and I could do nothing to stop my body reacting to him.

He took a deep breath and laid his hand above my head, leaning into it. “Stop playing with me, Maria. You know exactly what you’re doing with that power of yours”, he growled.

He was so close to me. I couldn’t move. Otherwise I might do something I would later on regret. “Severus,” I breathed out. “I’m not trying to do anything. My power is like it has a mind of its own with you. Your power makes it all harder. It’s always there, whispering into my ear”

“You better learn how to stop it. I want nothing to do with your games, girl,” he snarled. He was so close to me. I could smell the scent of dusty books and potions off of him. And under that scent, something stronger resided. A musky scent, sweet but dark. I had smelled it before but I couldn’t pinpoint exactly where.

“My games? You keep on sending me mixed signals. How am I supposed to know what you want? Your insults are nothing compared to the aura you send my way every minute, every second we’re together. What do you want, Severus?” Only centimeters were separating our bodies, our lips

His piercing eyes were cold. “What do I want? What I want is to never see you again,” he growled to me.

That dark rumble was enough to send me over the edge as I failed to control my power and I freed it out towards him.

Lips crashed on mine and my body slammed on the tree behind me. His power enveloped me, stronger than ever. I didn’t know where his ended and mine begun. I wrapped my hands around his neck and pullee him closer to me. I moaned as he sneaked his arm around me pinning me against his hard body. The kiss was rough and demanding. His teeth scraped on my lower lip, biting and licking mercilessly as he continued exploring my mouth.

Our powers mixed and I lost all control of myself. I could only let Severus dominate my willing body and mind to however he pleased. My body ached with want and I ground my hips to his. A hiss emerged from him and I felt wet lips moving to my neck, licking and biting. His hand had moved to my hair and had a tight but pleasurable grip from it.

I clutched his shoulder, back arched. I didn’t know how long I would last this teasing. I bit back a yelp as I felt the hand move from my hair to my thighs. I was easily lifted up, my legs wrapping around Severus’s waist. Now, our faces were on the same height, him not needing to bow down anymore. I met his heated gaze and parted my lips. My hand wound up back in his hair and I pulled him to me again, our lips meeting in a rough kiss.

I was buzzing inside out. The air around us seemed to flare and I couldn’t do anything to it. I didn’t want to do anything about it. The heat in my core was demanding. I could feel him against me, I could feel the hard result of his equal need pressed on me. I whined, I needed him. I needed to have him in me.

Severus let out a groan and broke the kiss. His eyes were closed and he laid his head in the crook of my neck. His grip on me didn’t falter and I could feel his heart galloping in his chest.

“I can’t. Not now, not here,” he mumbled and let me down gently.

I stood on my own shaky legs and looked up to him. My aura was still running wild, his enveloping us steadily. He was trying to calm me, I realized.

Severus took a couple of steps back. “I need to go. My power is fighting against me. I have to do everything I can, not to - “, he said with his voice fading mid-sentence. I inclined my head, my lips tingling. My aura was still trying to reach out to him. “I have to do everything I can not to fuck you right here,” he growled.

“Severus-,” I said.

“No, I have to go,” he dismissed me and turned away. “I have to go, now.”

A loud crack sliced the night and Severus was gone.

Only my thundering heart and a faint scent were enough proof that he had stood in front of me just moments before.

The scent.

My eyes widened slightly as I realized what that scent was. “Amortentia”. I breathed in again. No, I was mistaken, it couldn’t be. No no, I breathed. But the realization was enough to turn my world upside down. I wasn’t mistaken. The musky yet sweet scent was the one that once wafted from a boiling cauldron. The scent I had hoped to smell again.

And here it was. Hot tears rolled down my flushed cheeks. Why, in Salazar’s name, did it have to be him?
