Draco malfoy
he couldn't breath
His mind was screaming at him.
Saying everything he'd ever done wrong, the death eaters. The dark mark.
He grabbed his stuff and practically ran out of the library, towards anywhere.
Anywhere but there.
People stared as he jogged past, tears threatening to spill out of his pale blue eyes.
People always stared, he shouldn't be surprised.
But this time was different, he felt like every person's eyes were piercing a hole into his body. Slowly killing him until all that was left was the ugly black robes on his back.
He always hated the colour black, it reminded him of his house. Everything the was dark and lonely.
He used to sit for hours with his house elf, dobby, they would play cards or bake.
Anything to distract him from his father.
But then stupid potter went and got him taken away, so now he just sat by himself. He would imagine dobby was still there with him, helping him bake apple crisp and cinnamon cookies. His favourite.
He kept on running until he found an empty corridor, on the 3rd floor he thinks.
He slid down against the stone walls and held his head in his hands.
His breathing was short and heavy, interrupted by his choked sobs.
It was pathetic really that he thought of his mother when he heard the soft hum and clicking of shoes on the floor, just round the corner.
He remembers when he was small, and his father would get angry his mother would tuck him into the soft silken sheets of her bed and hum till he fell asleep.
He heard a slight gasp as the clicking shoes came faster towards him.
He looked up through his arms and saw the person he least expected.
Luna lovegood.
She threw her soft looking blond hair over her shoulder carelessly and knelt beside him.
"Draco? Are you alright?"
She spoke softly and in that faraway voice, like she was in her own magical wonderland.
He choked out a sob and shook his head.
His father would call him pathetic for that. A man never showed weakness. Never mind a malfoy man.
"Shhh. Its okay."
She stroked his hair softly and wrapped her arms around him in a side hug. He hated to admit it but it felt nice, he couldn't remember the last time he was hugged.
"You're OK. Is there anything I can do draco?"
He thought about it for a second before shakily replying.
"C-could you sing?"
She didn't reply for a second and he immediately felt stupid. Why would a gurl he'd only ever been rude to do anything for him?
"I never had it in myself to go with grace,"
He looked up at her in shock.
"Cause when I'd fight you used to tell me I was brave,"
She had the most beautiful soft voice he had ever heard and he felt his breathing slow down instantly.
"and if I'm dead to you why are you at the wake?"
He remembered this song, his mother used to sing it to him. One of her cousins favourites or something.
"cursing my name, wishing I stayed. Look at how my tears ricochet."
she finished beautifully, and he was surprised to see a tear roll down her soft pale skin.
"Th-that was beautiful. Thank you."
She breathed out in a sort of half laugh.
"Thanks. It was my mother's favourite she always sang it to me before bed. She says that her and her best friend, regulus black, used to sing taylor swift all the time."
His eyes widened slightly at this. Regulus black, his uncle?
"Regulus black was my second cousin."
He felt the need to say that for some reason, as if it gave him and luna something in common.
"Really? Did you know him at all?"
She looked at him curiously with her bug watercolour eyes.
"No not really, my mother and him used to get on well I think."
She hummed in response to this and they sat in a comfortable silence for a while, content with eachothers company.
"Hey luna? Thank you. For helping me y'know."
She looked down at him with mild surprise before the drifty faraway look returned.
"Not at all, if you ever need me I'll be right there."
She looked off again at the wall, as if the was a whole circus going on right there that he didn't know about. She was odd, luna lovegood.
But maybe odd was good.
