The Accident And Sleepover.
The sight of sunlight streaming in through the window, the sound of pages being turned and the creak of the spine of a book spine, the smell of fresh parchment and ink.
This woke Hermione up after a long night of sleep, but it was as if she were stepping out of a cave into the bright sunlight of the day.
She groaned audibly.
“Couldn’t you be a little… I don’t know, quieter?” She pleaded.
“Couldn’t you read more… I don’t know, quieter?” He said in a mocking tone. “No Granger, I cannot, I’m watching my son.”
Hermione got out of bed after peeling a toddler off her back who stirred but luckily stayed asleep.
“Fine, be your usual self, Malfoy.” She rolled her eyes.
“I will be, because I love my usual self.” He smirked.
“Can you at least tell me the time?”
“That I can do, it is currently Nine Thirty-one in the morning (9:31 A.m.).” He answered, still grinning.
Hermione sat next to her toddler. “Wake up Ly, Ly.” She said sweetly, but Lyra groaned.
“Up or no playtime.” She replied sternly, and then Lyra shot up.
“Mummy, I’m up, Can I play with Sworp?”
“Not sure, ask Malfoy, Draco even if you can.” She smiled.
“Draco! Can I play with Sworp?”
“Pretty Please Daddy!” Scorpius joined.
“Fine but don’t go too far and behave – oh and don’t go in other people's rooms without permission.”
“I don’t think I ever apologized for our past, you know?” She wondered realizing she never did. I mean half of the reason Harry hated Draco was for her because of his blood purity.
“You shouldn’t be apologizing to me; you didn’t do half what I did to you.” He snarled.
“I guess I should apologize about everything now? It seems fair. “I guess I should apologize about everything now? It seems fair...” He paused, taking a shuddering breath. “I'm sorry about everything I've ever done or said to you, if it helps, I never use the slur anymore and I’ve had nightmares since the manner of screams – your screams specifically.” He sighed. “I should have said that ages ago, but now the time seems right.
“I forgive you Malfoy.” He looked like he was in disbelief. “But can we start using first names, Draco?” She cooed and he nodded.
A bang and a cry came from downstairs, and Draco jerked his head towards the door signalling for them to go and check out what the little troublemakers were getting up to and if they needed to interfere.
She marched down the stairs following Draco, closely behind.
“Mummy...” A wail erupted from her mouth.
“What happened?” She asked.
“Scorpy me wanted food so we opened the fridge and then got a glass bowl but it smashed and it in my arm and scorpy leg we both bleed! Mummy it hurts!” Lyra bawled.
“And where is scorpy?” She cooed. “Follow me mummy scorpy bad and me bad pain!” Lyra led them to Scorpius who was bawling his eyes out.
“Shit, Scorpius, can you take your hand off your leg please?” Hermione asked and he moved his hand and grabbed onto Draco’s shirt instead.
“Scorpius, you're a really brave big boy right now. Lyra can you just sit next to Scorp and hold your arm out.” Hermione cast numbing spells on both of the tyke’s injuries before whispering a glass vanishing spell. “Good job you're too nearly done then you get chocolate! How about that?” She gained eager nods from both of them.
She closed the wounds and cleaned the blood off them. “All better.” She paused before Draco started talking. “How did you become so good at healing spells?” Draco wanted the answer - no need for the answer from her.
“Ron had issues so I self-taught myself… But let's go get that chocolate!” She said reaching into the kitchen cupboard grabbing two mini-sized chocolates and handing them both one, that she earned smiles and the tears all vanished from their faces, forgetting about what had just happened and focusing on the sweet treat.
“Theo and I are going out so keep an eye on Scorpius, If you wouldn’t mind of course?” He asked.
“Hm? Oh sure I honestly don’t mind.” She paused looking up from her book and sporting a small smile. “When will you be back?”
“Around uh? I don't know maybe midnight or earlier.” With that Draco walked out of the room and left the house, leaving Scorpius and Lyra with her.
“Lyra! Scorpius! Do you want to watch a movie?” This was followed by stomps up the stairs.
“What is a movie, Miss Hermione?” Scorpius questioned then Lyra answered: “Mummy takes out her phone then plays a video that's an hour its like moving pictures but longer! Right, Mummy?”
“Right, do you know which movie?” Scorpius stayed quiet while Lyra shouted an answer that sounded like ‘The BFG’ and so she pulled out her phone and started playing the movie while both tykes snuggled in beside her, watching closely.
(Draco POV)
Draco walked into the shared bedroom hoping to see Scorpius in his own bed, but instead, he was greeted by all three of them in Hermione’s it seemed they were doing something then just fell asleep after a while.
He had two options.
- Grab a pillow and a blanket to join the sleepover.
- Or he sleeps in his own bed.
He sighed and went with the least likely number one, he wanted to be near Scorpius in case he got frequent nightmares of his mother. So it was the best option for him and Scorpius.
He grabbed his pillow and dark forest green blanket and plopped them down next to Hermione’s bed and as soon as his head hit the pillow he fell asleep.
