Yorktown was sitting in her lighthouse home. She had been there for years now and Had seen the Ocean both on Starry Nights, bright sunny days or harsh storms.
She had multiple medical appointments for her legs and fortunately the repair ship vestal was the one appointed to be her doctor.
her legs were healing slowly but steadily. Her sister's Enterprise and hornet came to visit from time to time but both of them had been assigned to this new joint base between the Royal Navy and the eagle Union alongside a few other minor factions.
so she hadn't seen him in a while but she did hope that Enterprise was doing better. she had been getting worried about her every time she visited. but that wasn't the only thing that was on her mind.
One evening as the stars were out and she was looking out at the Ocean she pulled something from her nightstands drawer.
It was a velvet box that looked to have been worn down over the years. but still it wasn't the box Itself that was Important but what was inside of it.
It was something special she wanted to give to someone special in her life. The Battlecruiser amagi from the Sakura Empire.
but unfortunately her wisdom cube was destroyed thanks to the sirens. It was one of her greatest regrets as she remembered that day on the ocean.
They were fighting side by side. She was giving her air cover while Amagi fired at the sirens.
Unfortunately the sirens shot her with a Ray that fortunately she was able to destroy but not before they hit Amagi for a brief minute causing irreparable damage to her wisdom cube.
she was so sad that she wasn't faster or was able to destroy it sooner.
as she looked at the stars she felt her presence.
“Amagi wherever you are, I hope you are happy. and maybe Someday i can see you again.”
She put the Velvet box back into her drawer and went to sleep.
A couple of months later she heard that the war between Azur Lane and the red axis was over. and that her sister Enterprise apparently has a little thing with the head maid of the Royal Navy.
At least that's what hornet and Hammond had told her when they came to visit when she was fully healed.
After a year of recuperation and getting back into the saddle she was allowed to go to the joint base under vestal’s guidance. she didn't mind she was more than willing to have her along.
She knew enterprise and Belfast had got an Into a relationship and were currently in the Royal Navy dealing with the annual meeting.
Meanwhile in the Sakura Empire.
kaga and akagi were making their way to Akashi's room with a box that contained the most precious thing in the world to them.
“ Are you certain we can trust her with this?” kaga asked, being a little bit concerned with the cats intentions.
“ she said she can bring her back. and if that is a possibility then we should take it.” her sister said, sounding Confident in this decision.
“ Yeah, the last time somebody offered us to bring her back it ended up blowing up in our faces! if it happens again, don't expect me to come and save you.”
“there will be no need to do that.”
akagi said as they were at the door of the crazy green-haired cat girls' dorm room.
The moment they knocked, the small cat girl opened up the door.
“my customer's! Come in, come in, I prepared everything!”
The two fox girls walked in and saw what looked to be a ray gun aimed at a small area that had protective glass surrounding it.
“Now do you have the item I asked for?” the categirl asked, holding out her hands.
Akagi handed over the box with kaga still giving a disapproving look. She remembered what happened last time somebody told them they could revive her sister amagi.
They ended up creating a massive weapon that almost destroyed everything if it wasn't for Enterprise and the other ships saving their foxy butts.
but as akashi opened the box and saw the broken pieces of the wisdom cube that wants belonged to amagi they both began considering if they made the wrong choice.
because the cat girl dumped them into the special area without much Grace.
“ Now I will only accept payment upfront before I activate the device.” she said, holding out her hands so they could give her the money she asked for.
kaga just rolled her eyes and paid up hoping that this was worth it. because it costs her half her savings which was a substantial amount of money.
Akashi got behind the ray gun and began powering it up. Apparently she had found some leftover siren equipment and figured that she could reverse engineer it into something that the Empire could use and that she could sell to them for a quick Buck.
as a weapon began powering up the catgirl put down her lab agglasses and held a remote out in her pause.
“ Now this can either go good or bad but anyway let's find out!” She said that as she pressed the button and the two fox girls saw a blue ray being fired out of it!
as it hit the cube pieces began glowing once more. their dole Dark blue colouring began becoming much lighter.
but as the cube was being brought together and fused together into a whole cube again the machine began shaking violently!
“ what's going on!” kaga shouted, not liking the sound the machine was making.
“I don't know!” Akashi said, trying to keep the thing from shaking itself apart. “I just coupled it together in a hurry. I don't know what it does?”
“ you don't know what it does but yet you told us it could bring our sister back!”
akagi shouted as she was about to rip the kitten apart when suddenly there was a bright Flash and an explosion!
Lady nagato was Making her way to the annual meeting as she left her sister temporarily in charge.
but that's when the explosion happened and she could see that half her base was destroyed by just debris That was falling from the sky!
She rushed over towards the destroyed dorms and saw two things that surprised her.
One was that Akashi somehow survived the explosion without any injuries!
That and apparently her device had actually worked!
there lying unconscious with her full rigging was amagi!
Lady nagato looked at the damage and quickly ordered that the unconscious ship girls would be brought into the infirmary which fortunately was not damaged.
She then walked up to the cat girl and grabbed her by her shirt.
“ I do not appreciate that you have destroyed my base and I will find a punishment for you when I get back from the meeting that you'll be joining me on!”
Akashi didn't argue. She knows better than to mess with her superiors.
Meanwhile, Yorktown was enjoying the time she was spending with hornet on the base. The two of them had hit the beach on their first day and enjoyed just relaxing with each other.
They lamented that Enterprise wasn't with them but they were certain they would get an opportunity to be together with her in the future.
but one day she got a call from the Sakura Empire.
“ Hello this is Yorktown. to whom do I have the pleasure to speak to?”
“Yorktown it's me Mutsu.”
“Ah Mutsu, how are things over in the empire? I haven't heard from you or your sister ever since my accident. How are things there?”
“ not good. the base got destroyed thanks to the device that blasted green catgirl made.”
Yorktown rolled her eyes. She had heard all about Akashi and her get rich quick schemes. Honestly, for a businesswoman who had quite a lot more money than anybody else in Azur Lane she really needs to stop trying to get even richer.
“I'm very sorry to hear that but why exactly did you call me?”
There was silence on the end of the line before Mutsu spoke up.
“Yorktown…. she's back.”
Yorktown couldn't believe Mutsu and was silent for a moment.
“ that can't be true… her wisdom cube was destroyed.”
“ Apparently whatever device Akashi made brought her back to life. The scientists of the empire have also done a full health check on her and her cube is no longer broken and it's fully healed. I guess that cat did something good after all. She's currently in her home and I haven't had the chance to talk to her yet. but if you want we are looking for some extra aircraft carriers to help us out. it could give you the chance to talk to her again.”
“ When do you need me?!” Yorktown said being extremely excited to hear that Amagi was back.
They discussed things for a few more hours before Yorktown had to have a conversation with Enterprise over the computer.
She learned that the Royal Navy had asked for some extra ships and that her sister would be staying there.
Hornet immediately agreed to go there as well but Yorktown informed her that she wouldn't be able to go since she had already offered to help the Sakura Empire.
Enterprise understood and wished her good luck.
as Yorktown was sailing towards the Sakura Empire She could feel the excitement in her chest. Amagi was back! She could finally use the item that was in the Velvet box in her pocket.
The moment she arrived she immediately rushed towards Amagi's Home.
It was a quite sizable home with multiple bedrooms with a beautiful view of the ocean as well as a beautiful view of the Sakura forests.
it was exactly like Yorktown remembered. although it did look like a lot of dust had collected over the years that the owner of the house was gone.
as she gently opened the door she saw her. the nine tailed purple eyed Fox girl that she had missed for so long.
She was just about to hug her when amagi said something that stopped her in her tracks.
“Excuse me but who are you? And why are you in my home?”
Yorktown looked confused but tried to explain herself.
“ it's me amagi. USS Yorktown? we lift here together for a while.”
“ I'm sorry but I don't remember you.” the fox-eared woman said, seeming genuinely confused at the identity of the person that was now in her home.
Yorktown felt her heart sink into her stomach. Amagi didn't remember her. It was like the two of them had never met before.
Yorktown looked pretty awkward before deciding to give her a reasonable explanation.
“ Sorry but I was here to help after the destruction to the base since some of your aircraft carriers are out of action.”
“Well then. I'm glad to have you here and if you want you can stay here?”
“ really?” Yorktown asked with a hint of happiness in her eyes.
“Of course after that siren attack that destroyed the dormitory, there won't be any good places to sleep. unless you want to sleep onboard your ship?”
“ No, it will be fine.” Yorktown said with a small smile before making her way out of the door to collect some stuff from her ship.
At least that is what she told amagi. She actually made her way to the grand Sakura tree where she knew lady nagato would go after coming back from the meeting.
and indeed she was there drinking a cup of tea On her own.
“ Miss Yorktown. I have been expecting you.” she said as she gently placed another teacup in front of her and filled it up. “ As you've clearly seen amagi has been brought back thanks to that infernal machine that a certain cat as made.”
“ yes… I just spoke to her and I'm allowed to live with her again… even if she doesn't remember the first time she did allow me to live with her…”
“ Ah yes. I'm sorry none of us informed you about her memory loss.” nagato said as she gently handed over the tea cup to Yorktown. “ To be honest I didn't know until I arrived back here and was informed about her condition. The scientists of the Empire believed that the process wasn't completed when her Wisdom cube was fully repaired. she has all of her memories and combat instinct but it appears she lost everything to the point of your relationship beginning.”
“I was able to Figure it out myself after our interaction.” Yorktown said as she drank her tea. “ Do you think her memories are gone for good?”
“ no.” lady nagato said with a little smile. “ the scientists believed that her memories could be jogged back into her. since they're still there just slumbering in the back of her head. I'm not saying it will be impossible to bring the Memories back but if you think you can then you have my full permission to try.”
“thank you lady nagato. I promise to do my best to protect your great Empire.” She finished her tea and gave a respectful bow to the leader of the empire.
Yorktown immediately went to Action trying to get Amagi's memories back.
A week after she arrived she took her to a nearby Cliff overlooking the ocean for a picnic.
she remembered this being her favorite spot for the two of them to have a picnic. she was hoping that this would trigger her memories.
but unfortunately that didn't happen.
“ This place is absolutely beautiful. I can't believe I've never been here before. you were right, this is really a special place.”
“ yeah… it is…” Yorktown said with a little less Enthusiasm than the fox woman next to her. Amagi didn't notice as the two of them began eating their picnic together.
The week after that they went shopping In the shop the two of them usually went to back when they were together.
Yorktown found the exact same hairpin she bought her before and placed it in her hair. It was a of very small Firebird protecting some people from a storm.
but unfortunately it didn't help Trigger Amagi’s memories either.
So finally after two weeks she decided to try one last thing.
Amagi Would be out on patrol all day and so Yorktown decided to surprise her by making ramen. She had even learned how to make the noodles herself. they weren't perfect but she tried her best.
She spent hours perfecting every single part of the recipe that ironically Amagi had taught her to make.
but apparently she had forgotten about that too.
but when Amagi came back she was immediately hit by the beautiful smell of ramen as soon as she opened the front door.
She made her way to the kitchen and saw two bowls prepared with ramen with Yorktown sitting on the other side of the table waiting for her.
“ you're just in time for dinner.” Yorktown said with a smile on her face. “ I've just finished the Ramen. I hope it's to your liking.”
Amagi sat down and began taking her chopsticks and slurped up some of the noodles.
Yorktown hopes that this would jog her memories. but just like with everything else she tried it didn't work.
Amagi just smiled as she finished her plate. “ This was delicious! Do you have more of this?”
“ yes… it's in the pot over there…” Yorktown pointed as she was just stabbing her noodles with chopsticks before standing up and grabbing her bowl. “ I'll go eat in my room…”
“ Is everything okay?” Amagi asks, being a little concerned about her guests' well-being.
Yorktown just said that she was fine and made her way into her room and closed the door behind her.
as she slowly ate her ramen she couldn't enjoy them. the flavor just didn't taste the same without Amagi truly being there.
late at night Amagi had just finished her food and was about to head to her room when she overheard something coming from her guest's room.
it was sniffling and crying. Amagi didn't understand what was going on with her guests.
as she went to bed she laid on her back and looked at her ceiling. ever since Yorktown arrived she felt that something was wrong. she didn't know what and she also didn't know why there was a massive gap in her memory. The last thing she remembered was going to attack the sirens and then nothing.
next thing she knew she was in the Infirmary getting inspected by some scientists. still figuring that out would be secondary to discovering the mystery of why her guest was so sad.
The next morning Yorktown woke up and grabbed the velvet box in her pocket and gave a sad look at it.
She put it back in her pocket and Decided to go for a walk today.
but before she could make it out of the door Amagi walked out of her room.
“ Miss Yorktown, wait! What is wrong with you?”
Amagi asked genuinely concerned but Yorktown couldn't bring to tell her what was wrong. she had debated on telling her about their previous relationship and the fact that she had actually died.
but she was afraid that Amagi would think it was a joke and not take her seriously.
so she decided to just smile and keep the sadness inside of her.
“nothing's wrong… I just need some fresh air, that's all.”
“something is wrong!” Amagi said with a bit more determination in her voice. “ I heard you crying last night. Did I say something wrong to you? Did I do anything wrong to you? Because if I did I'm sorry.”
Unfortunately that apology only made Yorktown feel worse.
“ Everything's okay.” she said, turning back to leave. “ I just need some fresh air.”
“ Please miss Yorktown if you don't tell me what's wrong then I can't help you.”
“ Just leave me alone, I need some fresh air!” Yorktown shouted before running out of the house!
Amagi wanted to go after her but felt that she would only make things worse for her guest. so she decided to let her go. even though something was pulling at her heart saying that she should run after her. but she couldn't tell why.
She went around the house doing her chores when she began putting her laundry back in her drawers.
“ I don't understand why she is so upset around me.” she said to herself as she began putting away some of her underwear. “ Did I do something wrong to her? Did I attack her? no it can't be that. she wouldn't come near me if I did. but what did I do?”
but as she was putting the final piece of underwear away she saw something in the corner.
It was a wooden box. It was very unassuming and looked to be covered in Dust.
She grabbed it out of the drawer and opened it. and the moment she did her Purple eyes glowed with all of her memories returning to her in a rush of both energy and emotions.
she looked out of her window with a realization.
“ Yorktown…”
she immediately rushed out of her home trying to find her!
She ran into a few ships and asked if they had seen the silver-haired carrier.
none of them did until ayanami pointed towards the grand Sakura tree.
She raiced towards it her heart racing in her chest faster than it ever had beaten before.
She saw Yorktown Standing on one of the Bridges surrounding it with her hand outstretched about to drop something in the water when she shouted.
“ Yorktown! Yorktown!” she shouted as the ship girl in question noticed her. The silver haired carrier was about to walk away when Amagi grabbed her arm.
“Yorktown please don't go!” She said desperate to keep the carrier there.
Yorktown struggled to get out of her grip “just let me go please!”
Amagi Just tightens her grip “no! Please don't leave!”
“Just let go of me!” Yorktown struggles even more Trying to get away from her.
Amagi Felt her heart shattering as the Eagle Union carrier tried to pull away. so she shouted the one thing that she hoped will get through to her.
“Yorkie please stop running and listen to me!”
Yorktown stopped struggling and realized what the nine-tailed fox girl had said.
“ you… remember?” Yorktown immediately knew that this wasn't a joke. Yorkie had been her nickname that Amagi herself had given her. nobody else knew about it.
“ Yes I do.” Amagi said, falling to her knees and crying. “ I remember every single moment we spent together. including the day my wisdom cube was damaged and the day I was destroyed. I am so sorry I forgot about us.”
Amagi began crying when Yorktown crouched down and gave her a hug.
“I'm just glad you finally remembered. But what brought your memories back? I tried everything to bring them back but nothing worked. So what did?”
Amagi pulled the wooden box From her pocket and opened it and presented its contents to Yorktown. It was a beautiful silver ring in the shape of a Mighty Eagle.
She looked into Amagi’s eye’s who still had some tears in them.
“I was going to propose to you after the battle that ultimately claimed my life. After the scientists told me I only had a few years left to live and I didn't want you to be tied down to me when I passed on.” she began brushing away a few tears. “I didn't want you to feel like you had to stick with me even though you could find somebody else and eventually love again.”
She kept brushing her way her tears before Yorktown gently placed a hand on her cheek and use her thumb to brush the tears away.
“ I can never love anybody like I love you. and if you need proof of that?”
Yorktown Got onto one knee and opened the Velvet box she was about to drop into the water and opened it to reveal a beautiful bronze rain in the form of a nine tailed Fox.
she looked at Yorktown with more tears in her eyes. but this time they were of Happyness not Sadness.
“Amagi, would you do me the Honor of being my wife?”
Amagi just tackled her to the ground and gave her a deep passionate kiss.
That was all the answer Yorktown needed.
After placing the rings on each other's fingers they made their way back home.
“ So now that I've got my memories back Is there anything else I missed during my time… you know… deceased?”
Yorktown decided to lay everything out that she knew since she didn't want to lie to her fiance.
She told her about the orochi project and her sisters. Let's just say Amagi had some very Stern words for them the moment they would wake up from their coma they had been in ever since the explosion.
A couple of months later kaga and akagi were sent out to represent the Sakura Empire in the annual meeting in the Royal Navy capital. and I think we know what happened there don't we?
Yorktown and amagi got married a few months later Underneath the grand Sakura tree with all their friends and family there to celebrate their love.
and as lady nagato grabbed two pieces of Sakura petals from the sky and placed one in each hand they could truly begin their new lives together.
even though there would be some complications in the future they were more than willing to Face them together.
