Past Draco Malfoy X Astoria Greengrass/ New beginning

Candlelight
Fresh tea
And Roses in full bloom

The smell of their house,
The rooms she used to walk in,
Her pillows
And his Amortentia.

After Astoria, Draco brews it weekly.
Just to keep her presence there.
To not forget.
Just for a little while.

In the fumes of the potion he can still hear her laughter.
Still taste her lips.
Still see the spark in her eyes.

Inside the scent she's still alive,
And so he can be too.

Sometimes he just lies there In the middle of his living room
Surrounded by the scent of her.

Hermione comes over then.
Always notices when he's not in the office.

Her heels click around the house as she makes him a sandwich.

"You have got to eat!" She tells him softly.

He doesn't know how much of her weekly working hours are wasted into dragging him back to the books of living.
But somehow she does it anyway.

"You're my colleague." She tells him when he asks why she bothers, "You're my friend! Who would I be if I saw what's happening and didn't come?"

Slowly life takes over grief.
And Hermione doesn't have to come drag him to meet people.
He goes by himself.

And eventually
He realizes that the potion he brews smells less like the past
And more like Old books and ink
Bergamot and lime
And spring air after the rain.

She's gone — Astoria
But in his memory she smiles,
Urges him forward
And tells him to "Live, Draco."

So the next day He knocks at Granger's door.
