Never Leave

Phineas tightly embraced Matilda, their bodies pressed together in the dimly lit room. He needed to have a conversation with her, something that couldn't wait any longer.

"Matilda," he whispered huskily, his breath warm against her ear. "I need to talk to you. Wake up, my love."

Matilda stirred from her slumber, her eyelids heavy with sleep. "What is it, Phineas?" Her voice was drowsy and filled with a mix of curiosity and annoyance.

Phineas gently brushed a strand of hair away from Matilda's face, his fingers caressing her cheek. "I had the most haunting dream, Matilda," he confessed, his eyes searching hers in the darkness. "It felt so achingly real."

Matilda's brow furrowed as she struggled to shake off the remnants of sleep. "A dream? What was it about?"

In the soft glow of the moonlight filtering through the curtains, Phineas recounted his dream. "You left me, Matilda," he said, his voice filled with vulnerability. "You said I was out of control, a monstrous presence in your life."

A chill ran down Matilda's spine, and her heart began to race. She propped herself up on one elbow, her gaze locked onto Phineas. "Phineas, you know I would never say such things to you," she said, her voice trembling with sincerity.

Phineas nodded, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I know, but the dream... It was so vivid, so painful."

Matilda reached out in the darkness, her fingertips finding Phineas's cheek. She traced the contours of his face, her touch gentle and reassuring. Then, without hesitation, she leaned in and captured his lips in a lingering, passionate kiss.

"No, Phineas," Matilda whispered as their lips parted. "You must understand. I love you deeply, and I will never, ever leave you. Dreams are but fleeting illusions, my love, and they can never change the reality of our love for each other."

Phineas gazed into Matilda's eyes, his heart swelling with emotion. He realized that the dream, no matter how vivid, could never tarnish the bond they shared. In the silence of the night, they clung to each other, finding solace in the knowledge that their love was unbreakable, even in the face of haunting dreams.
