Triumph

“Oh, come on, Remus, you couldn’t go without it either.” Sirius rolled his eyes, leaning against the bar while they were waiting for their next round of drinks. They had both gone carry the three drinks they ordered to get a break from James’ whining about Lily removing sexual privileges after their last fight.

Remus frowned. “Of course I could. I’ve gone years without sex,” he insisted.

Sirius raised his eyebrows in that irritating way that meant he could easily see through Remus’ bullshit. “That was before you met me.”

Remus huffed. “So?”

“So, my dear Moony.” He leaned into his space, a cocky smile growing on his lips. Challenge in his eyes and voice full of innocence, he continued, “You simply can’t resist me. I give you two weeks, tops.”

Remus wasn’t one to back down from a challenge. Two weeks without sex was not something he’d done in a while, but that was merely due to the fact that he hadn’t tried to go for that long simply because there was no reason to. Thankfully he wouldn’t have to now either, because there was something else he could always count on.

“You know that means you have to go without it too,” he stated, unimpressed, and Sirius stilled immediately.

“Mh-mhh,” he just said after a moment and Remus knew he had him. He hadn’t thought it through that far.

“You’re going to lose,” he said, simply because he knew it was true. They both did. They could just save themselves the trouble if Sirius gave in to the fact that he couldn’t do it.

“Talk about yourself.” Of course Sirius wasn’t one to back down either.

He rolled his eyes because Sirius was being ridiculous. “Please, you lost your mind when I was away for a week.”

“It was a stressful week!” Sirius shot back defiantly.

“You begged me for phone sex. You even requested a video call if I remember correctly,” he responded drily.

“Oh please.” Sirius rolled his eyes right back at him. “You got off on my begging. You needed it too.”

Sirius, of course, had a point. But he didn’t have to know that. “I could have gone without,” he lied.

He raised an eyebrow. “I guess we’ll see.”

“I guess we will,” he replied petulantly.

Remus only noticed their drinks on the counter once Sirius took his. Drink in hand, he leaned in even further, lips close to his ear.

“One thing to know about me Moony,” he said, voice low and his breath brushing against his skin he was so close, “is that I will always triumph.”

And with that he pushed himself off the counter and walked back to the table with their devastated friend. Remus ignored the shiver and followed him.

(They both made it exactly twenty three minutes until they fucked nasty in the bathroom of the pub.)
