Sandcastle

It was a group project.

The little boy, stark naked except for a hat to protect his head and neck from the sun, shoveled the wet sand into a little yellow bucket. Sand which a massive black dog, at least ten times the size of the boy, heaved out of a hole it was digging close to the shore, creating a hill of usable material. Once the bucket was full and heavy, the child got the dog’s attention, who then gently took the handle between his big, sharp teeth. Grabbing the dog’s fur into his tiny, brown fist, the boy directed the dog to the right spot, the gigantic canine following like a tame lamb. Then the boy flipped the bucket over as the dog waited patiently, panting from the hot sun.

The result was a rather impressive, and still growing, sandcastle.

Remus watched from the sidelines and smiled.

He could safely lay down on the spread-out towel and close his eyes to take a nap, knowing Padfoot would take care of Harry.
