Note
Hi! This is my first fic since I joined the Marauders fandom and I'm very excited to write it. I'm fairly new to the fandom but have always loved writing and decided I might aswell give it a go.I got this idea while listening to music and it's still kind of playing around in my head so I'm not set in stone on how this will end but I do know if will be happy because I can't deal with another sad ending right! Anyway, hope you like my work and thank you for reading :)

Surprise Wake-Up Call

Remus awakes on the gloomy Sunday morning to a loud crash from the lounge. Startling awake, he jumps from the bed and slowly opens his door to take a peak. He walks slowly into the living room trying his best to avoid all the creaky spots on the floor as to not alarm the intruder. As he finally reaches the entrance to the room he grabs the nearest thing to defend himself... a broom.

Before he even gets chance to step round the corner, Remus is startled by the sudden appearance of a taller black haired figure. Instinctively raising the broom, Remus yells as he goes to ward of the startling body.

"Moony, calm down! It's just me!" Sirius says, backing off and raising his arms in defence.

Remus allows his eyes to adjust and the haze of his panic to fade before he lowers the broom and let's out a sigh of relief.

Running a slender hand through his hair, Sirius let's out a soft laugh "Christ mate, you woke up on the wrong side of the-" He cuts off as his gaze travels to the broom. Before he can prevent it, he bursts out into a rather boisterous laughter "What- What on earth- where you p- planning on doing- with THAT?!" He chokes out, trying his best to maintain his composure but failing miserably as his words are broken up by his hysterics.

Remus rolls his eyes at his roommates childishness and slaps him playfully round the back of the head "Shut up you idiot. What the hell all the noise about?!" He huffs, upset by the rude intrusion to his dreams, all be it entirely Sirius filled anyway.

After finally managing to calm down, Sirius grabs his friend by the shoulders and pushes him through the doorway "Well my friend," He begins, pushing with all his might against his resisting, stronger friend "We have a long week ahead of us and I thought you could use a nice healthy breakfast. So I made you one! Or well, tried to at least?"

Finally reaching the table on which he laid out their feast, Sirius wraps an arm around Remus's shoulder casually to view his work. It was a peculiar sight to say the least. The scatter of plates and cutlery on the floor accompanied by the poorly displayed food makes the room resemble the set of a slapstick comedy scene.

Sirius leans happily against Remus’ shoulders, being the perfect height to do so. It is at this moment that Sirius realises that, in his panic, Remus had forgotten to throw on a shirt and he has to try his hardest not to ogle at the shirtless man albeit his every instinct is telling him to run his hands over the silvery scars intruding on Remus's skin.

Noticing the taller man's piercing gaze burning holes in his skin, Remus coughs to snap him out of his last filled trance throwing him a questioning look. Which of course Sirius just jokes off retuning his attention to the spread.

Sirius steps away from Remus to take a seat on the sofa and the loss of contact leaves Remus’ skin with a cold feeling, extremely disappointing compared to the warmth Sirius provided. Shaking his head slightly, Remus reminds himself of the impossibility of ever having anything more with one of his best friends and takes his seat. "So, what's so important about this next week?" He questions. It is obvious by Sirius’ attempt at making breakfast for the two roommates that he wants something and is just trying to get on Remus’ good side.

Sirius looks at him with false hurt in his eyes "Don't tell me you've forgotten Messr Moony!" He gasps dramatically.

"Forgotteeen..." Remus prompts, still not remembering the clearly ever so important week.

"The gig!" He exclaims, suddenly jumping to stand "Andromeda asked us to play three days in a row for her charity event?" He explains as though Remus has lost all common sense.

Remus slowly comes into realisation, as is evident on his face "Oh right yeah, the gig. But I thought we'd already gone through all the details and sorted the set list?" He remembers clearly going through everything with the group as it was the cause of his recent sleeping beauty level slumber. The days between finding out about the gig and the bands meeting had cause endless restless nights for Remus due to his overwhelming nerves.

Sirius nods slowly "Yes, yes we did." He then grins mischievously. An act which makes Remus feel weak all over and have to adjust subtly in his seat. "Howeveer," he drawls, finally taking his seat again, leaning against the arm and spreading out his legs, fully aware of the effect the position has on Remus "I thought that maybe our most amazing, fabulous master song writer, one of my best friends and the best rooma-“

"Get to the point Sirius." Remus growls, judging by the flattery that he wasn't going to like Sirius's suggestion for the week.

Taken aback by the rough tone to Remus's voice, Sirius blinks and clears his throat "Right, yes. I thought we- you I mean, could write a new song that will blow the audience away? Something new and exciting!” He states hopefully. Seeing the unconvinced look on Remus’ face, he adds cheekily “I'll do anything!" He looks Remus up and down and flutters his eyes, a small smirk playing on his lips.

Remus let's out an exasperated sigh and chuckles at Sirius's flirtation, in an attempt to play of the blush slowing creeping onto his face "Fine. But you have to help!" He offers.

Sirius nods eagerly, like a child being offered his favourite sweet. He crawls over to Remus and plants a loud, sloppy kiss onto his cheek "Thank you, thank you, thank you! What would I ever do without you Moony?"

He grins from ear to ear and the sight alone makes Remus's heart flutter in his chest "Well you'd probably be at the bottom of a ditch Pads, but the others would be perfectly fine!" He teases, earning a loud scoff from Sirius.

Sirius goes to respond with some witty comment about Remus when the door flies open and James loudly announces "Honey, I'm home!" Causing Sirius to go bounding into his Arms. Some may assume that the two hadn’t seen each other for many years when, in reality, they saw each other the day before.

While James is a decent height and still stands as the second tallest in the group, he is a few inches shorter than the towering being Sirius Black. However, he doesn’t even faulter for one second as he sweeps Sirius into his arms. His muscular physique allows him to hold the man very easily in bridal style without even breaking a sweat.

Next to enter the room is the final member of the band, Peter Pettigrew. The petite man follows immediately behind James, as has come to be expected of him. Even after having known him for years, Remus still knows little about Peter as he seems to just follow whatever the others do and rarely gives himself an individual personality or even opinions.

Looking back towards the display of food in front of him, Remus decides to just get some food ordered in. Not that burnt sausages and bacon aren’t appealing to him, of course. And scrambled eggs, which have most certainly been dropped on the floor, are exactly what his appetite calls for at that moment in time.

He stands and leans casually against the back of the sofa as Sirius is lowered to the ground. He takes a moment to take in the scene in front of him, three of his dearest friends laughing together in a moment of peace. He smiles softly to himself before remembering the reason he was woken up so abruptly this morning. It is at this point that it dawns on him how prepared Peter and James seem “So, am I the only one who found out about this ‘impromptu’ meeting this morning then?” He asks Sirius, a hint of annoyance in his voice.

“You’re really not going to let that go, are you?” Sirius responds still grinning as he looks down at his friend, now at an even lower point due to his position. Remus pretends to think for a moment before sharply shaking his head, avoiding meeting Sirius’ gaze to allow him to maintain his composure. He makes the mistake of looking up and the two lock eyes, the air immediately becoming thick with tension.

“Now,” James begins, clapping his hands together to draw everyone’s attention towards him and snap Sirius and Remus from their trance. “Moony, mate, are you planning on going out like that?” He questions “Not that I’m complaining of course, the view truly is terrific!” He nods in the direction of Remus’ exposed chest and nudges his friend next to him in an attempt to get him in on the joke “Right Pads?”

Sirius, who had gotten lost in thought at the mere mention of Remus’ shirtless state, looks up at James, startled. Noting the expression on his friends face, he takes a moment to mentally catch up on the situation before laughing half-heartedly and nodding “Yeah, of course.” Looking back towards the aforementioned friend, he licks his lips and takes a step towards Remus “If you’re struggling getting dressed I can always come... help you out” He punctuates his point with a wink and his usual grin, sending butterflies to Remus’ stomach.

Remus turns away from Sirius to face James, confusion evident on his face. He looks down at himself and turns bright red at the sight of his exposed chest. He crosses his arms in an attempt to cover as much skin as possible and laughs nervously at his friends jokes “I’ll um... be out in a minute” He stutters before heading back to his bedroom to throw on a knitted jumper and the first pair of trousers he can find.

He returns to find his three friends sat on the sofa, James and Sirius arguing about latter’s cooking abilities. Hearing his friend approaching, Sirius looks up and says “Moony, vouch for me here. My food isn’t that bad, is it?”

Remus looks down only to meet the face of a very hopeful Sirius “Well... I haven’t tried it... so I can’t say.” He offers, only to have a plate of bacon thrust in his direction. He picks up a piece of the bacon and takes a tiny bite out of the corner, immediately feeling his stomach become upset “It isn’t great Pads, I can’t lie to you.” He says, placing the bacon back down and hoping he doesn’t throw up.

Sirius pouts and picks up the bacon from the plate, taking a bite out of it still with high expectations despite his friends opposing opinions. As soon as the black meat touches his tongue, his eyes widen and he spits it back out on the plate “Ok, so maybe I’m not the best cook.” He admits in defeat.

Remus laughs and perches himself on the arm next to Sirius “Where exactly are we going today then?” He asks his friends. Usually they just write their songs in the comfort of their own homes but, judging by James’ earlier comment, they where not doing that today.

James looks up at Remus and states “Well I think we leave that for Pete to explain. After all, it was his brilliance that got us the place!” He turns towards the small man, who is grinning from ear to ear and bouncing from excitement. “Pete.” He says making a gesture out to the room as though to say ‘the floor is yours’.

Peter takes a deep breath before blurting out in a complete ramble “SowithmygovermentsecretaryjobIobviouslydobookingsformybossessoIcalledafewplacesandpulledsomestringsandmanagedtogetabookingforoneoftherecordingstudiosintownsowecandosomeworkthereinsteadofathome.” When he finishes, he looks as though he might burst and takes a moment to calm his breathing again.

Remus looks at his friends baffled, having only picked up sections of the explanation “So... we’re going to a recording studio?” He checks with James, who nods in reply. Remus nods back as he slowly takes in the news.

He doesn’t have long to process as Sirius jumps up from his seat, almost knocking Remus off of the arm “Well, what are you all waiting for?! Come on!!!” He exclaims excitedly. Beginning to round them up and push them towards the door. James is the first to stand, being immediately followed by Peter as the two are forces towards the door.

Remus sighs as he forces himself to his feet, slowly making his way to the door behind the others. As he reaches Sirius, an arm stops him from moving any further. He looks up at the attached body and is met with Sirius looking down at him chuckling to himself “Your jumper is on backwards.” He states. Remus is caught so off-guard by the way the light from the window is reflecting off of Sirius’ features that the comment doesn’t register in his brain. Sirius smiles and chuckles again “Here.” He says simply before slowly letting his hands fall to Remus’ waist. He allows his hands to brush over Remus’ hips as he takes hold of Remus’ jumper, enjoying the soft feeling of the skin under his fingers. Maintaining eye contact the entire time, Sirius lifts the jumper from Remus’ body and turns it the correct way round. His gaze travels from Remus’ eyes, down his body and then finally back up before he slips the jumper back over his smaller friend’s body. “There, much better” He says, his voice barely a whisper.

After maintaining eye contact for a few more seconds, Sirius steps back and opens the door to follow their friends. He is very confused about the feelings flooding his body but sets it aside and decides on the easiest explanation that he is merely touch starved. Without saying another word, he sets off at a fairly quick pace to catch up with the two that are long gone. Remus stands for a few moments, entirely baffled. He was only being friendly he reminds himself, taking a deep breath before stepping out of the door and chasing after the other three Marauders.
