Alice grew up with a very boring life. She lived with her half-sister and parents. She had friends and enemies at the time she was in Hogwarts, She fell in love, twice. Her first love was Frank Longbottom. They were close friends, and then she slowly fell in love with him when she was twelve years old, They started dating in third grade.
When Alice was fifteen and saw the black-haired girl with blonde loops after her quidditch match, she fell in love for the second time. It was after their quidditch match against Slytherin where Gryffindor had won. When Alice left the changing room after her long shower, her life had changed. Alice was walking towards the castle when she saw the youngest Black daughter, she was walking towards the castle too. âShe probably waited for her boyfriend, Luciusâ Alice thought. Lucius played quidditch too, he must've been mad about the match and have snatched his anger to the gray eyes.
Narcissa Black was the youngest daughter of Cygnus and Druella Black. She was the spoiled child, but also the one who watched her sisters and parents arguing all the time. Narcissa was close to both of her sisters, and she felt sick when her older sister Andromeda left. Alice remembers that she never left her dorm for days.
Alice saw the redness in Narcissaâs gray eyes. She knew that Lucius Malfoy was not the best person, but it was so meaningless to get angry at your girlfriend over a game. She passed the blondish black-haired girl and went to the party at the Gryffindor Tower. That party was not the best party for Frank Longbottom, his girlfriend had broken up with him.

Alice Fortescue was a Gryffindor for a reason, she was brave as a lion. So she was going to befriend Narcissa Black. She planned to ask her if she had the notes from their last potion class together, where Alice was too busy to talk to her friend and couldnât take notes. Alice looked over at the table in front of her, âThank Merlin's balls, we sit near each other. It would be so hard to find her in this huge library.â Alice thought. She sat up and started walking slowly to Narcissaâs table. She had gotten Narcissaâs attention already, her plan was going so well.
âHey Black, may I ask you a question?â Alice was slightly smiling while Narcissa had a confused face, looking at the short-haired girl.
âYou have already asked me a question, Fortescue. But go on, what are you going to ask me?â Narcissa did not look happy at all, but at least she didnât look like she hated Alice.
âWell, I assume that you have the notes from the last potion class. You know, I was too busy to talk to Frank and all that. So could you please give me the notes? Or at least help me with the N.E.W.T.S, for the potions of course. You know you got the best results on O.W.Ls in the fifth year-â Alice knew she was rumbling, and she thanked Narcissa for interrupting her.
âWhy are you even asking me for notes, Fortescue? Donât you have friends? Or what about your lovely boyfriend?â Alice saw the coldness in Narcissaâs eyes, she wondered why Narcissa had gotten so angry about it. Her eyes looked colder than winter.
âWell, I thought you were the smartest student in our year, Black.â Alice knew what she was doing, a Black could never decline a wish with a good compliment. So Alice was pretty sure she would accept to give her the notes, and later on, convince her to study once a week.
Alice was sitting on the desk now, Narcissa was looking at her from below. A small line of her blonde loops were in front of her left eye. Alice couldnât help but stare at Narcissaâs grayish-blue eyes. She knew Narcissa was staring at her too, and she knew her anger was about Alice talking to Frank and that's why she couldnât take notes.
âWhat do you want, Fortescue? The only reason cannot be noted. So tell me, what do you want from me?â Narcissa was smart, of course, she was. Alice knew Narcissa would figure out it easily,
âAs I said before, Black. Youâre the smartest student in our year, and I need to get good results for the N.E.W.T.S., so I thought you would help me to study.â Alice was looking at the gray eyes, she knew Narcissa couldnât say no to a wish with a compliment.
âYou wonât let me be if I donât agree to study with you, right?â Alice slightly laughed while shaking her head positively, aware of Narcissaâs cold-as-snow eyes. âWell okay then, meet me right here, on Tuesdays around 6 pm and Iâll help you study.â Alice had gotten what she wanted, and Narcissa too at some point.

Itâs been three weeks since Alice and Narcissa started to study together at the library. Surprisingly, Narcissa seemed to enjoy wasting her time with Alice while she had to think about her wedding next summer with Lucius. The Blacks and Malfoys had been friends for years, and the childrenâs friendship made the parents think about marriage. So Narcissa and Lucius have been dating since fifth grade and their parents told them about the marriage plan.
âAlice stop daydreaming and focus!â Narcissa didnât mean to call Alice by her name, she didnât, She didnât even realize it until Alice started laughing with a shocked face. She started laughing even more when she saw Narcissaâs as pink as her lips, and cheeks.
âDid you just call me by my name?â Alice could hardly breathe while Narcissa looked like she was ready to jump off of the Gryffindor tower. Alice was punching the table they had their books on now. When Narcissa was about to leave because of the embarrassment, Alice dragged her hand and whispered around her laughs. âOkay, okay, Iâll stop laughing, please don't leave.â She was still laughing though.
Narcissa continued to look at Alice blankly until she stopped laughing, and well, that took a while. Alice coughed a little when she finally stopped laughing. She was red all over her face, but not for the same reason as Narcissa.
âSo what were we talking about, Narcissa?â Alice looked at Narcissaâs eyes, aware of what she was doing. Narcissa looked at her with confusion, but Alice knew that Narcissa was aware of what Alice was doing but still confused.
Narcissa stared at Alice blankly for some seconds, without even blinking, until she bursted into laughter. Now both of them were laughing, they tried to be as quiet as possible to not get kicked out of the library.
