Myrtle never expected people to come to her bathroom. She knew that the first-year girls were always told one thing upon arriving at Hogwarts, never go to the second-floor bathroom unless absolutely necessary. So, when she heard the door of the bathroom open, she was surprised. Myrtle however decided to stay in her bathroom stall, not being interested in having wet toilet paper thrown at her, a game popular with students. Ever since that time those three Gryffindor rascals brewed a potion in her bathroom and discovered the chamber of secrets nobody came here anyways. So, who would enter the dreaded bathroom? Whatever, none of her business she decided, minding her own for the first time in her ghostly life.
After a while Myrtle had nearly forgotten the opening of the door, as she was busy brushing her two pigtails and thinking about which Prefect's Bathroom to stalk next. Watching the more handsome prefects bathe was one of the few perks of having to haunt bathrooms. Suddenly the most horrific, loud and piercing sob emanated from the other side of the bathroom stall door. Myrtle, who was an expert at wailing, had never heard such a horrific shriek. Angrily she flew out into the bathroom, this was her bathroom, and she was the only one who got to cry in here! Standing near one of the sinks stood a figure appearing to be a ghost.
As she flew closer, she recognized him, it was Nearly Headless Nick looking very miserable. “What do you think you are doing crying in my bathroom?” she inquired. “I-im sorry, it’s just that those wretched Weasley twins have been making fun of me again and I was sure that they wouldn’t come in here since students dislike this place.” He said between sobs “You’d think after hundreds of years of being nearly headless the comments wouldn’t get to you anymore.” “Oh so you thought you could just intrude on my peaceful bathroom? Also what do you mean ‘students dislike this place’?” Myrtle was getting even madder, she knew of course why people avoided this place, but hearing a fellow ghost talk about it was just insulting. “I’m sorry if I have insulted you, I had just heard that students don’t like this bathroom. But I don’t really see how they would with such a beautiful lady as yourself living here.” he winked at her.
Myrtle blushed, never dead or alive had anyone called her a beautiful lady. “Why thank you” she said shyly. Sir Nicholas seemed quite pleased with this reaction “Well, Myrtle was it? This bathroom of yours is quite lovely. How about I show you my tower. It’s the Gryffindor tower, I’m sure you’ll like it.” Myrtle thought for a second. Never had anyone ever been interested in her like this not even when she had been alive. Also taking a closer look at Nicholas he was somewhat handsome, sure his head was nearly detached but that didn’t bother her. He had a nice mustache and hair, dressed well and shared her problems with students. She made her decision.
