"Regulus?"
"Hi its me your ex-boyfriends little brother"
"H-how did you- i- i thought you were dead"
"I faked my death and seemingly disappeared from the earth on a very dangerous mission." He said
"And why are you here?"
"Because harry is being abused and i want to adopt him but im supposed to be dead."
"How am i supposed to help with that?!"
"I thought we could raise him together"

Remus thought it over for a couple of days and eventually ended up in 12 grimmuald place a week later. using cleaning charms while regulus is getting harry.

A black cat stood in harry's room now take that word loosely as harry slept in a cupboard under the stairs. Harry got thrown in by his uncle so fast that he hadn't noticed the little cat. It stared at him and he stared at it.
Then the cat got up and started cuddling harry as if comforting him. Harry smiled at it and picked the cat up cuddling it close.

The next day harry awoke from a nightmare free dream which never happened. The cat was gone but its memory remained. After finishing his chores harry went outside only to find the same black cat staring up at him.
The cat gestured for him to follow behind a tree and so harry followed the strange creature.
And then.. it turned into a human! Harry didnt make a sound but he did flinch. "Hi im regulus" "h-hi im harry"
"Dont be scared i take it youve never met an anamigi before?"
"A-a what now?"
"An animagi you know someone who can transform into a animal"
"N-no you would be the first"
"Oh my merlin.. you grew up without magic?!"
"Magics real?!" Said harry taken aback
"Yes magic is real!"
"Sit down i have much to tell you" regulus said
And tell he did, of everything he could, about magic, harry's parents, his werewolf godfather, his framed convict godfather who was regulus's brother. He even asked if harry wanted to come live with him and his werewolf godfather.
"I-" harry faltered unsure of what to say
"Yes." He settled on
