The first full moon - part 2

It had been a few minutes since Regulus and Remus had been left alone in the screaming house, they were both silent. Remus hadn't said anything and Regulus wouldn't be the one to say something first. Despite wanting to scream at the older man and ask how he could sit so calmly when Regulus's skin all burned and itched like hell. Didn't he feel it too? Could it be that for Regulus it was worse than for other werewolves as a punishment from the universe? "Shut up" he thought to himself wanting to stop the intrusive thoughts that were starting to arise.

"I didn't say anything" Remus replied looking confused, shit he had said that out loud

"It wasn't about you, sorry" he replied with a muffled voice due to his jaw being clenched, concentrating on not tearing his own skin with his nails in such agony

"Here" Remus handed him a bottle with a red liquid inside "put it on your skin, it will help with the burning" he added when he saw the younger man's confused face, who took the bottle muttering a thank you, before pouring the liquid. in your hand and pass it over your arms and neck. The burning had lessened a little, but the growing agony, the sensation of something tingling beneath his skin did not diminish.

"How can you... how can you stay so calm? Don't you feel... thousands of little creatures walking under your skin?" he asked, sitting down too

"I'm sorry, I just think I've gotten used to it" he took a deep breath "the first transformation is the worst one. Over time it will get easier" he stopped talking for a while and then looked at the sky "We only have a few more a few minutes, in 20 minutes the moon will reach its highest point and then it will begin... I know it might be too much to ask, but try not to fight the wolf, you'll feel worse if you do"

As if it were a trigger, as soon as Remus finished speaking and Regulus looked up at the sky, his entire body began to burn again, he stood up anxiously and began to walk from one side to the other mentally counting from 1 to 5 and then from 5 to 1. When he began to lose his concentration and his mind began to scramble, he fell into despair. He heard Remus asking for his wand to hide it and not run the risk of breaking it and he did so, even though he couldn't assimilate it very well. He felt his breathing hitch and heard Remus asking him to calm down, but at that point he couldn't anymore, he felt as if the force had been ripped out of his own body and he was just watching everything from another plane. Just before his mind blacked out for good, he remembered feeling extreme pain that caused him to fall to his knees and looking up at the moon displaying its full form in the sky above him.

When he woke up the next day everything in his body hurt, last night after the transformation was complete was a blur, his head was throbbing and the light coming through the window hurt his eyes, a whimper escaped his throat as he tried to get up just barely. to discover that he was too weak for that. If all his full moons were like this he wouldn't survive much longer, she thought to herself.

"Black! Are you awake?" he heard Lupine's voice ask in the distance, he couldn't respond verbally, his throat burned like hell, so he just nodded weakly and faced Remus who was clearly better than him despite being hurt "Okay, I don't know if I can take you back to the castle alone, so we'll have to wait for Madame Pomfrey here."

He didn't respond, Lupine knew he was listening and so he continued "you tore your clothes yesterday during the transformation, you have some reserves here but I don't think you can change, so I threw a blanket over you..." If at any other time Regulus would have cursed Lupine for seeing him without clothes, but now he didn't have the head for that so he just mentally thanked him. At least the oldest was trying to take care of him "you got hurt a lot last night, but don't worry it was your first time, your body and your subconscious are still fighting the wolf, they haven't accepted him they still see him as a stranger. With the weather improves"

Regulus wondered how long Lupine had been dealing with this to know about this kind of thing, probably for a long time. He knew there was no cure, but the hope flickering in his mind that maybe one day he would be able to get rid of it dimmed a little more when he realized that Remus had probably been dealing with it since childhood. He just continued staring at the other werewolf who was rambling about countless things, waiting until the time when Madame Pomfrey arrived. When the Hogwarts nurse entered, followed by Professor McGonagall. Pomfrey went straight to the Slytherin and crouched down beside him, whispering some quick healing spells to the more superficial one and administering some simple invigoration and pain potions so that the boy could at least get up and return to the castle where she would look after him in the infirmary. .

He and Remus returned inside the castle escorted by the teacher and the nurse, he was thankful that they arrived early at sunrise so there were no students in the corridors yet. When they reached the infirmary, Pomfrey bandaged Remus' injuries and gave him some potions, releasing him. Regulus would have to stay there for at least a few more hours as he was getting worse. Before leaving, the Gryffindor said goodbye to Regulus, leaving a chocolate bar on the table next to his bed before leaving.

Pomfrey released him from classes that day and after lunch when he left the infirmary he just went to the dormitory and threw himself on the bed exhausted. What a nightmare his life had become.
