enchanted to meet you

“I'm so excited to see what house I'm in!!!” Tsukasa practically yelled as the four performers sat at the front of the dining hall, waiting to be sorted into their houses. They had transferred to Hogwarts after showing acute signs of possible magic ability at their old school. Originally, Rui, Emu, and Nene had been hesitant about leaving Japan and traveling to the UK, but Tsukasa convinced them that it would be best for the group’s popularity.

Rui would never say it but he had a feeling he wouldn’t be in the same house as the rest of his group and it terrified him. Tsukasa was adamant that they would all be Gryffindor, but Rui wasn’t so sure. Yeah the other three would probably all be in the same house but Rui? He’d probably draw the short end of the stick and get Slytherin knowing his luck.

And it wasn’t that he had anything against Slytherin, he actually thought the house seemed pretty cool, but rather he was worried about his relationship with his friends and more importantly his boyfriend. He had a bad feeling that if the two ended up in separate houses, they would drift apart and eventually break up. The thought of breaking up with Tsukasa made Rui sick to his stomach, and he’d even brought the possibility up to Tsukasa who had reassured him that even if they were in different houses they could still stay together.

Now, sitting at the front of the dining hall Rui nervously fiddled with his robes awaiting his turn to get sorted. Next to him, Emu got up as she was called to the sorting hat. Almost jumping out of her seat, Emu skipped to the front of the hall and sat upon the stool awaiting her. As the hat was placed upon her head she giggled and kicked her feet.

“GRYFFINDOR!” yelled the hat, and the hall erupted with applause. The Gryffindor table obviously cheered the loudest, but Rui observed that Slytherin appeared to be the least enthusiastic. This made sense to him because as far as he knew the two houses had an intense rivalry that had been going since the school was first founded.

Rui watched as each one of his friends went up to the hat and repeatedly got placed into Gryffindor. Finally, when it was his turn he rose from his seat and nervously made his way up to the hat.

Sitting upon the seat waiting for the hat’s verdict, Rui felt more nervous than ever. He tried to tell himself that he would probably get put into Gryffindor like the rest of his group as they watched him from their respective table. He would be a Gryffindor like them and he and Tsukasa wouldn’t have to worry about breaking up and everything would be ok.

Except
It wasn't.

“SLYTHERIN!” yelled the hat.

Rui’s heart stopped. This couldn’t be happening. No, it had to be a mistake. But of course it wasn’t, the hat was never wrong. Rui watched as his friend’s expressions changed from ones of excitement and anticipation, to shock and maybe even…horror?

For the first time that entire night the Slytherin table erupted into roaring applause. In a daze, Rui made his way from the stool and to the end of the Slytherin table, trying and failing miserably to take in the situation at hand. It took a minute but once reality sunk in, Rui started spiraling. This was it, his friends would kick him out of the troupe, he would be stranded in Slytherin all alone, and worst of all Tsukasa would leave him.

No, no that would never happen, right? Afterall, Tsukasa promised to not only keep the group together, but to also stay with Rui no matter what!

…But if that was the case then why did Tsukasa have that look of horror on his face when Rui was sorted into Slytherin?

As he was desperately trying to calm himself down, Rui noticed an icy blond boy looking in his direction. Rui had to admit that the boy was quite attractive, if not more than a little intimidating.
