They had just finished Charms class and are now headed to lunch in the Great Hall.
Someone had let it slip that there would be an actual creature used in their defense against the dark arts class today. Some people think it's a lie, other people think it's true, and everyone is placing bets on it.
Either way they would find out. After lunch they had a free period and then defense against the dark arts.
As they sat down at the table next to the girls (Lily Evans, Marlene McKinnon, and Mary McDonald) like they always do everyone in their year (or aleast the people who had defense against the dark arts) were talking about it.
"So, you guys think that the rumors are true?" Asked Marlene as the boys were sitting down. "No way there true. Defense against the dark arts is always a boring class, this year anyway. Why do they always hire a new teacher for that class every year anyway? And did they really have to hire Professor Sandborn? He's the most boring teacher in the world." James said.
James and Sirius always hated Professor Sandborn and he was one of their targets for a lot of pranks.
"Well, maybe they all quite because of you and Sirius. You two must be nightmares to teach." Lily said jumping into the conversation that her, Remus, and Peter had looked like they were trying to avoid being in till now. "How dare you. We are delightful." Sirius said and that had made everyone laugh (even Sirius himself) since they all know that definitely wasn't true and would never in a million years be true.
"I still don't believe it." James said and Sirius replied with "Me either. Sounds like a load of bullshit." "Well, I'll guess that we'll see later, won't we." Said Mary.
They all changed the topic and finished there lunch.
In the common room James and Peter are playing chess and Sirius is sitting in Remus' lap while Remus reads a muggle book he got over the summer.
A bunch of Gryffindor 5th years in their defense against the dark arts class are scattered around the common room talking about whether they think the rumors are true or not and what the creature could be as the time ticks closer to class.
The girls walk into the common room a few minutes later and sit by the boys. "Hey, you guys back." Peter said while James was taking his turn. "Yeah, since we only have a half an hour till class starts we figured we'll just stay here and walk with you guys when class starts." Marlene replied with sitting next to Sirius and Remus.
Lily sits on the arm chair by the fireplace and Mary sits on her lap both of them getting adjusted. "So, what have you guys been doing?" Mary asked (mainly to Sirius cause he was basically the only one not doing anything). "Nothing, really. We were basically just chilling until we had to leave for class. What about you guys? What have you been doing"? Sirius replied with. "We were hanging out with Marlene's girlfriend, Dorcas and her friend Pandora. But they had Potions so we had to leave." Lily said. "Doracs Meadows and Pandora Rosier?" Sirius asked. "Yeah, you know them?" Marlene asked. "Yeah, their friends with my brother, Regulus. I think I've meet Pandora and I've definitely seen Dorcas in the halls before. Pandora and Evan Roiser are twins, and Pandora and Evan are both Reggie's bestfriends. Well, so are Barty Crouch jr and Dorcas, but the point is yeah I know them." "Oh, yeah. I remember Dorcas mentioning being friends with Baby Black." Marlene replied with. "You know he hates my friends calling him that, Marls." "Yeah, but I don't really care that much so." Sirius just laughs at her and they all go back to doing there own thing until it's time for Professor Sandborn's class.
They all walk into the defense against the dark arts classroom and see that all the tables and chairs are moved to one side of the room instead of where they usually are.
"Okay, class. Today we will be doing something a bit different." Professor Sandborn says and half the class groans while the other half look smug while taking the money they bet on. Sirius is just glad he didn't bet on anything, he would have but Remus said that he couldn't and to not waste his money on some stupid bet and even though Sirius wanted to argue he could never say no to Remus, so he didn't bet on anything.
"Today, we will be working on Boggarts. Can anyone tell me what a Boggart is?" The Professor continued. To no ones suprise Remus and Lily rose their hands, but what did come as a surprise to people is that Sirius and James rose their hands to. They both knew what they were since Sirius encountered one when he was 5 and then again when he was 8 and James' dad taught him what they were when they had one in their house (although Fleamont and Euphemia both made sure James wouldn't see it since he would get scared). "Mister Potter." Sandborn called out. "A boggart takes the shape or form of whatever the person in front of it fears the most. No one has ever seen what a boggart actually looks like since they never show their true form in front of people." More people were surprised when he actually got it right and this wasn't some joke but they quickly got over it.
The Professor explained the spell to use and what to do. Sirius wasn't listening much, he wasn't even sure that he heard the spell they were supposed to use. He knew the spell though, he's used it before, he just couldn't remember the name. Oh, whatever. It'll come back to him. He thought.
They all got up and went to go stand in the line. Sirius was kind of nervous, he didn't know what his boggart will be. He hasn't see a boggart in a long time, he doesn't even remember what happened the last time he saw one.
He stands behind James and in front of Remus and holds Remus' hand.
Lily went first, it was some girl that kinda looked like her but older, less pretty, and she didn't have red hair, but that was quickly gone as she said the spell and suddenly the girl was spilling tea all over herself.
Mary went next. Sirius wondered what Mary's boggart would be, since she's not really afraid of many things. The boggart turned into Lily lying dead on the floor, then Marlene, then her mum, and then her dad, but she quickly snapped out of it and she cast the spell. Her dad's previously dead body turned into him dancing around the room.
Marlene was after Mary. Hers was similar to Mary's. Lily was dead, then Mary, then Dorcas, then Sirius, and then James. Her parents weren't there. Sirius knew that, much like himself, Marlene didn't really have a good relationship with her parents. As soon as Effie's (James' mum) dead body came up she casted the spell very quickly. Effie's dead body turned into her in an apron singing Spanish songs at the top of her lungs (no one complained though, she had a beautiful voice), something she apparently (James and Marlene had said) did a lot while cooking.
It was now James' turn. He stepped up and (Just like Mary and Marlene's) he first saw Peter's dead body, then Remus', then Sirius', and then Lily, Mary, and Marlene, and finally his parents. It was kind of weird to see your dead body not once but twice in one day. James was frozen for a second before he casted the spell. His dad's dead body was now in a weird pose just staying there like someone had frozen him or someone was painting him and he couldn't move.
And then it was Sirius' turn. He (sadly and hesitantly) let go of Remus' hand (since he couldn't keep holding it) and stepped in front of the boggart. He was really scared and nervous, but of course he was Sirius Black, so he didn't show it.
The boggart started to shapeshift into whatever it was that his worst fear was. Then suddenly his mother was right in front of him.
He couldn't move, he was frozen in place.
"You disgrace! You will never be good enough! No wonder no one loves you! And no one ever will because all you ever do is mess things up!" He could hear his mother yelling at him.
She was right, she always was.
James probably doesn't love him, and Remus to and Peter, Marlene, Lily, and Mary. They all are probably are pretending to like him so he doesn't feel bad.
No, snap out of it Sirius. Remember the spell! He thought to himself.
But he couldn't.
He couldn't remember the spell.
"Why can't you be better? Why are you such a disgrace?!" His mother yelled but he didn't answer so she yelled "Answer me boy!"
"I'm sorry, mother." Was all he said.
"You can't do anything right! Maybe this will snap some sense into you. Cruc-"
Then suddenly someone was in front of him.
It was Remus.
Remus stepped in front of him.
Walburga suddenly turned into the full moon but was quickly turned into a balloon.
He heard people talking to him but he couldn't listen. To many voices. He couldn't even listen to one. Until he heard someone say "Everyone step back, give him some space."
He looked at James, Remus, and Peter who were now the only ones by him.
"Hey, you alright?" That was James, he could never forget James' voice. "Padfoot, baby. Are you okay?" That was Remus, he could never forget his moony's perfect voice either. He wanted to answer, both of them, but he just couldn't get the words out. So he just shook his head 'no'.
"Alright, I'll take him to the dorm guys." He heard Remus say. "You don't need us to come with you?" Peter asked. "No, just don't come in the dorm for a few hours and we'll talk when you come back." "Okay, c'mon Pete, let's give them some space." James said and Peter and him walked away from Remus and Sirius.
"C'mon, love. Let's go." Remus said grabbing Sirius' hand and taking him back to the dorm.
When they were back in the dorm Remus sat Sirius on his bed (Remus' bed).
"Padfoot." Was all Remus said and then he couldn't stop the tears from coming.
This is stupid He thought and his mother's voice came into his head Blacks don't cry! Crying is for the weak! Are you weak Sirius?

"Sirius!" Remus' voice made him snap back into reality. "Hey, do you want to talk about it?" He shook his head no. No, not right now. Please not right now. He thought to himself. "Ok."
Remus started to get his pajamas and Sirius' pajamas. He put his own on first and then he helped Sirius put on his. He felt like a baby but also felt loved at the same time, something he used to only feel when Regulus was around.
They got into Remus' bed and turned off the lights. They were just there cuddling and after a minute or two Remus said something. "You know, we have to talk about this later, right?" "Yeah, I know. I just don't want to right now." "I know, baby. When we do talk though, anyone you don't want there won't be and anything you don't think you can say or want to say you don't have to say, alright?" "Ok."
With that they fell asleep cuddling each other. Sirius knew he would have to tell Remus (and probably James, maybe Peter) what was going on. A lot of secrets are going to be revealed.
But for right now he can just cuddle and sleep with his boyfriend.
